Located in the back streets of the bustling Gion district. The restaurant has a semi-basement interior. The yakitori is delicious, but the yakisoba dipped in Japanese-style broth is especially tasty. It's the perfect way to end the meal. There are also many other unique menu items to try. I would definitely like to visit this restaurant again.

End of year to New Year Osaka to Kyoto Day 4 Night Second Stop On New Year's Eve night, after waiting for Kwa's work to finish at HUB watching RIZIN, we left HUB around 10 pm and met up with Kwa. We were planning to visit Yasaka Shrine for the first shrine visit of the year, so we were looking for a restaurant nearby. We came across a nice yakitori restaurant called "Torisuke." Many restaurants were naturally closed on New Year's Eve, so it was quite difficult to find an open one just by searching on our phones. We finally found this place, and just being able to enter without a reservation was already a relief. Today's order was: Minchi (520 yen), Kawa (520 yen), Sunazuri (520 yen) - three skewers each, Agedashi Tofu (550 yen), Konnyaku Dengaku (550 yen), Assorted Katsu Skewers (950 yen), Onigiri (550 yen), Akadashi (350 yen). The yakitori was all delicious, especially the sauce. As we ate the onigiri and sipped on the red miso soup, we suddenly realized that it was already New Year! Wishing for a great year ahead... Cheers! Thank you for the meal!-------- End of review-------- Thank you all for your hard work. I have now finished all the reviews for 2021, and even though 2023 is right around the corner, I will now begin the reviews for 2022. I'm thinking of changing the style a bit next year, mixing in reviews from closer dates. Thank you all for your support this year! I hope all my followers have a happy year ahead... Please have a wonderful New Year!

A popular yakitori restaurant in Gion. The menu offers a choice between salt or sauce. It is a popular restaurant with a high proportion of female customers, and the taste is refreshing and easy to eat. The yakisoba here is delicious and unique to this restaurant! I couldn't try all the dishes as some were sold out, so this is just a brief comment.

There is a yakitori restaurant in Gion that is open until 5 am. They serve yakitori in sets of 3 skewers per person, so it's best to go with 2 or 3 people. The taste is consistently good. In the winter, they also serve chicken sashimi, but in the summer they have horse sashimi instead. After drinking, they offer chicken soup and porridge, which is nice. They have a decent selection of side dishes, so it's fine to focus on drinking. Some recommended dishes include grilled seseri with sauce, grilled rocket cartilage with salt, grilled chicken wings with salt, enoki mushrooms with butter, and horse sashimi.

I heard from an acquaintance that "Tori Suke" is open until morning, so after 1 am, I went out to eat with someone and decided to go there. The restaurant has a small entrance with a counter that seats about 6 people, and there are also table seats in the back. We chose to sit at the counter since the tables were close to each other. The grilled chicken dishes were served very quickly, surprisingly fast compared to other places I've been to. We ordered a variety of items such as liver sashimi, grilled liver, and grilled chicken skewers. Everything tasted delicious. The grilled liver sashimi was so good that we ordered a rare grilled liver skewer. The fact that they could make a dish from the sashimi menu into a grilled skewer was amazing service. The restaurant was bustling with customers coming in one after another, showing how popular it is!

It's been a while since I visited Torisuke, and there have been some small changes in the shop's accessories, but the cozy atmosphere and stability are still there, which makes me feel warm and fuzzy! I might go again tomorrow (laughs).

In the middle of Gion, it's a bit hard to find but once you enter, it's surprisingly okay to dine alone. I ordered the basic set of 3 skewers, starting with 2 skewers for one person. I ordered chicken neck meat with salt, liver with sauce, and chicken tail. While waiting for my order, the chicken tail arrived first, which was cut into thin slices and seemed to be cooked a bit too much for my liking. Next came the liver, which was supposed to come after the salted skewer, but it was served before that. The chicken neck meat was slightly undercooked and a bit spicy. The skewers were okay overall, but the seasoning was a bit off.

Traveling to Kyoto with my partner, our main purpose was actually to watch an away game of Avispa. Despite the intense heat, it was a close match but we managed to win with Wellington's goal! We then took the Hankyu train from the stadium to Kawaramachi. Crossing the Kamogawa River, we made our way to Gion, but unfortunately, the restaurants we were aiming for were all closed for the Obon holiday. Eventually, we found "Torisuke". First things first, we celebrated with a beer! The appetizer was daikon and cucumber with a sour dressing which helped relieve our fatigue. We also had dried fish with grated radish for 450 yen. My partner pointed out that it was similar to the appetizer, but it was fine. Moving on to the skewers, we had to order them in sets of three. We tried the chicken breast for 480 yen, which was quite generous in portion and delicious with plum paste. The cartilage skewers were also 480 yen for three, and they were tasty as well. The chicken wings were the same price, with a mild saltiness and a variety of condiments available. For the second round, we had highballs. There were some unreadable characters on the wall, perhaps "安" or "宴"? Anyway, the first day in Kyoto ended successfully with Avispa's victory. Well, at least we won. Overall, a good start to our Kyoto trip. Restaurant information: Torisuke, 075-551-4399, 347 Gionmachi Kitagawa, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto.

The skewers here are packed full (lol) and just that alone makes me super happy, but the taste is also amazing! My favorite is the skin and cartilage, which are just so delicious and have a great volume to them. When I order skin at other yakitori places, the pulled skin is skewered, but not here. It's skewered tightly. Eating it with sansho pepper while pulling it off the skewer and drinking beer is the best. Another favorite of mine is the appetizer, a daikon salad with ponzu dressing! It's light and helps cut through the fat. Many Gion mamas and masters come here. They really know their delicious food. I always think that simple food is the best when I come here. I'm always satisfied no matter how many times I come. I always forget to take photos, but this time I managed to take one at the beginning (lol).

I went down the stairs to the half-basement and entered the restaurant. Even though I didn't make a reservation in advance, there were available seats. The draft beer was served in a frosty cold glass, perfect for a hot summer day. The sashimi platter included breast, gizzard, and liver, all fresh and without any fishy smell. The yakitori skewers are usually priced at 480 yen for 3 pieces, but they kindly served me 2 pieces. I ordered skewers like skin, chicken with leek, duck with leek, gizzard, triangle, minced chicken, and minced chicken (which is actually tsukune). The taste of the skewers was nostalgic and delicious, especially the skin skewer. I later found out that this restaurant, Torisuke, is actually the first branch of "Waraza." The efficiency and speed of the elderly male staff members were impressive, and they served drinks and dishes quickly and meticulously. This made the dining experience very pleasant. Located in the heart of Gion, this restaurant offers delicious yakitori at a reasonable price.

Located in the heart of Gion's bustling district, this restaurant had caught my attention for a while, so I finally decided to check it out. On this day, I ordered a sashimi assortment, grilled dishes, asparagus sauté, eggplant dengaku, and chicken hot pot. The food was decent overall, with the chicken hot pot standing out as particularly good. Considering the cost, it was a great value and would be a good option for casual dining. I would definitely like to visit again if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal!

Despite being in business for many years, this was my first visit to the restaurant. Located in what is known as the Korean district (now called International Street?) in Gion, I somehow overlooked this place even though I thought I knew the area well. The restaurant has a long history of operation. During my visit, I didn't try any raw dishes, but the grilled dishes were exceptional and stood out from other places. Despite being reasonably priced, the quality of the food was top-notch. While I have visited many of the top-ranked yakitori restaurants in Kyoto, this place has been the best so far. They also offer takeout, which is convenient for those who want to enjoy their food elsewhere. This place is popular for group outings and post-dinner drinks, but it also attracts regular diners, so don't be put off by its location in Gion. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves yakitori. I will definitely be going back.

I used this place for a girls' year-end party because it's my friend's favorite spot. Don't expect anything fancy, just a cozy atmosphere! My friends are regulars here, so as soon as we walked in, the lady who runs the place greeted us warmly. She even chatted with me, a first-timer. The menu has a lot of skewers and small dishes, perfect for those who enjoy drinking. The portions are decent and the prices are reasonable. Located in Gion, it's a great spot to stop by before heading to the restaurant. I can't wait to visit again soon and see the lovely lady who runs the place!

I visited this restaurant around February 2014. I have been here a few times before. This time, I went with five colleagues for a meal. The location was in Gion, as I was asked to choose. I didn't hesitate to pick this place because the yakitori here is delicious, so I knew it wouldn't disappoint. My favorite dish here is the chicken hot pot. Even though it's a yakitori restaurant, the hot pot here is even better than at a dedicated hot pot place. It has a rich and deep flavor that isn't too heavy, and it goes perfectly with both the chicken and vegetables. You can enjoy it so much that you might forget about your beer. I highly recommend trying the hot pot. Also, the staff are all very friendly, which adds to the pleasant atmosphere. Please note that the photo does not include my colleagues.
