I visited Ohara Sanso at the entrance of Ohara Jakko-in, which is a hot spring inn with an outdoor bath. It was very comfortable, but there were too many foreign guests. For dinner, the specialty is chicken, but my companion doesn't like chicken so we had pork shabu-shabu instead. The shabu-shabu broth was made with sake lees, and it came with ramen too. I also had sake lees ramen for lunch earlier, but the flavor was slightly weaker here. The meal was very satisfying due to the generous portion. For breakfast, they served a traditional meal with yudofu (tofu hot pot). The rice was delicious and I ended up having seconds. I would love to visit this inn again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

This is a cafe located in front of Jikkoin Temple. I heard that there is a cafe with a foot bath under the table, so I decided to visit. I was thinking I should bring a towel, but they had them available in the store (which was helpful). This area is famous for shiso (perilla), so I ordered a shiso juice. It came with a cookie. The drink was refreshing and delicious! Even if you are not prepared to go to a hot spring, you can easily stop by and relax here.

I stopped by for miso hot pot with Jidori chicken at a hot spring inn. Compared to the one I tried at Ohara no Sato last year, this one was a bit more light in flavor. Of course, the flavors will intensify as the hot pot continues to simmer, but I think the one from last year left a bigger impression on me. It could be due to the difference in the homemade miso used. Some people might prefer this version though. Nevertheless, this miso hot pot is something that really resonates with people from Nagoya, and I definitely want to come back to try it again. The meat used was Hinadori chicken instead of young chicken, and the idea of simmering half-cooked udon in it stirs up my Nagoya cravings. It was a meal that made me want to visit again.

On my way back from Jikkoin Temple, I stopped by Ohara Sanso Ashiyu Cafe. My body was feeling a bit cold, so I decided to relax in the foot bath before heading home. I ordered amazake (sweet sake) and yuzu tea. Drinking them while soaking in the foot bath made my body nice and warm. It's amazing how effective it is to warm up your palms and feet. This is a nice foot bath cafe where you can relax a lot. I haven't really taken foot baths before, but they provided towels which was really great.

Kyoto Ohara Sanzenin♪ Enjoying hot springs and hot pot dishes at Ohara Sanso~☆彡
Kyoto Ohara Sanzenin♪ For the weekend, we stayed at Ohara Sanso~☆彡
Heading up the narrow road to Jakko-in, you will find Ohara Sanso at the end. Although not in Shigaraki, a raccoon dog greets you. The patterns on the cushions in the room are unique. First, we enjoyed the bath. It was not in the room, but in a separate building, so we had to move there. Going outside and up the stairs. It was a bit cold as it was raining a little at the end of February. Along the way, we were accompanied by a raccoon dog...
Returning to the dining room, we had hot pot dishes. It was chicken hot pot and it was quite delicious. The rice was served in an ohitsu in the center of the dining room, so we had to serve ourselves from there. A very nice inn. I would like to come back again~

During a stroll through Sanzen-in and Jakkoin in Ohara, Kyoto, I took a break at a foot bath. Unfortunately, the main onsen was only open to the public in the morning and evening, but they had a foot bath cafe where I could relax. The foot bath was a bit pricey but worth it. The setting was nice with tables and two foot baths, and the hot stones felt invigorating. I enjoyed a cup of coffee with a view, and the Wi-Fi was a nice touch. They provided towels, making it easy to use. The jazz music playing in the background was soothing, so be careful not to linger too long. After walking all morning, my feet were tired, but a quick soak in the foot bath helped me relax and feel refreshed. If you're visiting Jakkoin, I highly recommend stopping by this foot bath cafe next door.

We used it for a family trip. For dinner, we had sukiyaki with Omi shamo chicken, which had a great texture and plenty of flavor. We finished with udon topped with a delicious egg, and it was a very satisfying dinner.

I came during the autumn leaves season. It gets cold in Ohara in November. This time, I ordered amazake again. Adding ginger enhances the deliciousness. For more details, please refer to my first review.

After walking around visiting temples during a break from Ohara sightseeing, the foot bath was heavenly for relieving tiredness! The perilla juice was delicious. I would like to visit again when sightseeing in Ohara.

When I visited Ohara last year, I decided that I wanted to come back and stay overnight to relax, and since it was the season for botan-nabe (wild boar hot pot), I planned a weekend trip. In Ohara, there are two inns with hot springs that are like ryokans but more like traditional Japanese inns. They are Ohara no Sato and Ohara Sanso. I chose Ohara Sanso because they have renovated rooms with high ceilings, giving them a cozy mountain lodge feel. The room was clean and comfortable, and I especially enjoyed the hot spring. However, when it came to the food, I opted for the botan-nabe plan. The wild boar used in the nabe is said to be sourced from Tanba-Sasayama, but the strong gamey flavor of the meat was difficult to mask even with the miso broth. It was a bit too much for my taste. I heard that during this season, they also offer botan-nabe with Kyoto Akadori chicken or duck, which might be a safer and more delicious option. The nabe plan mentioned that the portion size was smaller, but there was plenty of vegetables, making it a filling meal (almost too much to finish). Overall, despite the disappointment with the botan-nabe, the inn provided a reasonably priced opportunity to enjoy the charm of Ohara (with Jikkoin Temple nearby). In conclusion, it was not a bad inn to stay at.

My friend is really into day spas and chose this one from a few options. I left it up to my friend to decide, so I accidentally went to a similar-sounding place first. There's a place nearby that sounds kind of similar, so be careful! I chose the chicken sukiyaki because I had it about three years ago and it was delicious. The one I had before was tastier, but this one was still good. I couldn't help but notice the hot pot the person next to me was having, so maybe that's why. They offered seconds for rice, so I ended up eating too much. The restaurant had a view of the garden, so it was nice to relax and have a hot pot lunch. We had the hot pot after soaking in the hot springs, so I felt like taking a nap afterwards.
