A new Syrian and Arab cuisine restaurant has opened in the place where the Seven Hills restaurant used to be. I parked my car in the parking lot behind the restaurant and found a table easily. There was a Japanese female staff member, which made me feel comfortable placing my order. The staff poured water from a golden pot for us to wash our hands on the table, which was a new and refreshing experience for me. I ordered Chicken Shawarma (grilled chicken on a rotating skewer with Arab bread) for ¥1000, Mutabbal (roasted eggplant and sesame paste with yogurt) for ¥800, and Zaatar (oregano spice pie Syrian style) for ¥300 after looking at the menu with pictures. The Chicken Shawarma seemed to be cut from the rotating chicken at the entrance of the restaurant, and it was served rolled in thin bread with a refreshing paste sauce for dipping. It was quite tasty, and the potatoes on the side were good too. The Mutabbal had a nice yogurt flavor with a hint of sourness, and when eaten with the bread on the side, it made me feel like I was in the Middle East. Besides Zaatar, they also had paprika paste pie and cheese pie Damascus style, which were unique and delicious flavors not commonly found in Japan. Since I visited during the pre-opening period, I am looking forward to seeing if the menu will change in the future.
