It was 1 o'clock on Sunday, but we were able to get in easily. Freshly fried tempura~♪ Especially the thick sweet potato was delicious with a soft and sweet inside, so happy╰(*´︶`*)╯♡ For lunch, you can get extra rice and miso soup. The Sunday lunch for 1,400 yen is nice.

Tempura batter is too heavy... I wish it was lighter. It feels like a tempura shop for foreigners. Tempura set meal for 1,400 yen. If this is the taste for this price, I probably won't go back. The daikon tempura was watery and not great. The sweet potato tempura (more like a tempura of baked sweet potato wrapped in foil) had a good taste, but it was not what I was craving when I came to a tempura shop. For this price, I would expect squid, pickled ginger, or egg tempura to be included for higher satisfaction. There are cheaper and tastier places out there, overall it was disappointing. The miso soup was not great either. However, the white rice was delicious. The menu picture in the restaurant showing the set meal had rice on the right and miso soup on the left, which felt odd.

Since it was the day of the Gion Festival, there were a lot of people and I had to wait in line right after the store opened because the turnover rate seemed to be quite slow. The most popular item seemed to be the Special Tempura Set for 1,400 yen <Large Tempura (large shrimp, chicken, kisu fish, specialty sweet potato, oden daikon, 2 types of vegetables), miso soup, rice, pickles>. I ordered this dish. The oden daikon was juicy and I thought it was a nice touch. The specialty sweet potato was deep-fried at a low temperature for an hour, and it was incredibly sweet and almost like a dessert. However, since I had it last, it was quite heavy. It was the type of dish that really filled you up. I couldn't eat much rice after that... Maybe I should have gone with the tempura rice bowl! The drink menu was extensive. I was excited to try the delicious local drinks! The Ehime mandarin orange juice was the best.

For lunch, we had tempura in Kyoto at 11 o'clock with a reservation, and the total bill was 9,100 yen including tax. We ordered: 2 pieces of tempura with one whole lobster and truffle salt for 1,900 yen each, lobster porridge for 500 yen, yuba with wasabi soy sauce for 400 yen, soft shell crab tempura for 800 yen, blue cheese and mushroom tempura for 500 yen, daikon radish simmered in red snapper kelp broth with tempura for 400 yen, Sapporo Lager beer for 800 yen, and Amazake sour for 600 yen. The soft shell crab was freshly molted and very tender. Thank you very much!

I went before noon, so I was able to get in without a reservation right away. While waiting for my friends outside, someone called out to me and saved a seat for us. I had the "Tenrin Special Tempura Set". The sweet potato tempura was soft and creamy, unlike any I've had before. The daikon radish tempura soaked in broth was also delicious. Both were thick and satisfying to eat. I also had tempura shrimp, kisu fish, eggplant, bell pepper?, chicken, miso soup, rice, and pickles as a set. The freshly fried tempura was really delicious. Thank you for the meal.

This is a tempura restaurant located inside Shinpu Hall. This time, I had the special Tempura Tendon set. On top of the rice were shrimp, chicken, green pepper, eggplant, enoki mushrooms, and lotus root tempura. Each tempura was soaked in a soy-based sauce. The rice portion is on the smaller side, so you can easily finish it all. You can also get a large serving of rice if you prefer. The set comes with miso soup and pickles. The tempura is fried after you order, so you can enjoy it warm. They also offer daytime drinking options, but the clean and inviting atmosphere makes it easy for solo diners to visit. The service was quick, so it's convenient to visit during your free time.

The tempura and pickled tuna chirashi sushi set was delicious and satisfying. The sweet potato tempura was particularly tasty. However, it was inconvenient that there were only counter seats and no place to put our belongings.

I am visiting Kyoto. I wanted to have a quick meal near my hotel, so I came here. The restaurant is small with only counter seats. The chairs have no backrests. Despite the current situation, there is no spacing between chairs, and the seating arrangement is tight, not ideal for a leisurely meal. Everyone is eating quickly. I ordered the special tempura rice bowl for 1,000 yen. The tempura is cooked just right and delicious. It absorbs the sauce, making the batter soft. The sauce is a good balance of sweet and savory. However, the rice underneath was watery, which was disappointing. There is also a healthy option with brown rice. The casual atmosphere with only counter seats may not be suitable for those looking to enjoy a relaxed meal. It's a good place for a quick tempura meal.

I once visited this place for drinks, and was recommended to try their lunch as well. The lunch menu was very popular, with about 10 groups of customers. I ordered the healthy brown rice vegetable bowl for 1000 yen, which was on a limited-time special offer. It came with large leaves, tofu, corn, avocado, cherry tomatoes, thick salmon, and crispy tempura with cheese-filled chikuwa on top of brown rice. The portion of brown rice was small, but I quickly felt full. It reminded me of the fun times I had ordering various tempura dishes and drinking at night. They also serve alcohol during lunchtime, so I wish I could have a drink on a day with nothing else to do... For lunch, they offer a selection of 6 tempura dishes including seafood, eel, and shrimp. I highly recommend visiting Shinfukan for a delightful dining experience!

Visited the restaurant on February 2, 2023, a little after 6 pm. There was one other customer already there. I ordered a beer and a mixed tempura platter. Sitting at the designated counter seat, I enjoyed the unbeatable combination of tempura and beer. First, a draft Ebisu beer was brought to me, followed by the tempura dipping sauce, and finally the tempura itself. There were five types of tempura, including shrimp and chicken breast, but the recommended sweet potato and daikon radish tempura were the best. Delicious! Tempura and beer are a match made in heaven!

What I ate was an eel tempura bowl and sweet potato tempura. The sweet potato tempura is delicious but the portion is large, so people who eat small amounts or can't eat a lot of fried food may need to be careful. It seems that a different menu is available in the evening, so it might be good to try going at night.

I visited around 7:00 PM on a regular day. There was one customer before me. I ordered the Tai (sea bream) tempura and Kujou Negi Tai Dashi Curry Don for 900 yen. The dish came with three large pieces of tai tempura. The curry was not too heavy, allowing me to enjoy the tai with rock salt. The curry had a good flavor. The pickles were delicious and matched well with the curry. Even though the portion looked small in the bowl, I ended up feeling full.

The restaurant had a glass exterior and a nice atmosphere. There was a famous celebrity's autograph on display. The staff were friendly and I had a good impression. I ordered the tempura bowl for 1000 yen, which was the cheapest option. It didn't quite meet my expectations, but it was a learning experience.

I decided to have lunch at a restaurant in Shinfukan and stopped by this place that caught my eye. Around 12:30 on a weekday, there were about 3 groups waiting, and I had to wait for about 15-20 minutes before being seated.
What I ordered:
- Autumn-filled mixed rice and seasonal tempura set meal
The mixed rice contained mushrooms, salmon, and salmon roe, allowing me to taste the flavors of autumn. The freshly fried tempura was crispy. It came with a small side dish and miso soup. The portion was just right.
I enjoyed a delicious lunch. Thank you for the meal!

I visited the restaurant around 18:00 on Friday. They used to only have expensive menu items at night, but perhaps due to the influence of the coronavirus, they now offer more affordable options for everyday use. There was only one other customer when I visited. I tried the "Old-fashioned Mother's Tempura Bowl" for 1000 yen. When I went in September 2021, but as of February 2022, they no longer had the Mother's Tempura Bowl and instead offered a different tempura bowl for 1000 yen. The protein sources included chicken tempura, shrimp tempura, and chikuwa tempura, and there were four types of vegetables: green pepper, eggplant, lotus root, and enoki mushrooms. I learned that enoki mushrooms are counted as a vegetable. The chikuwa tempura had a salty taste because the chikuwa itself was seasoned, and the eggplant was thick enough to make the sauce seem insufficient.

Today's lunch was at "Tempura Tenkin" in Shinpukan, Karasuma Sanjo. This tempura restaurant is located in the newly renovated Shinpukan building. The stylish glass-fronted shop doesn't look like your typical tempura place. Their recommended menu item is the beef tongue curry. The counter seats are high, catering to a young, mostly female clientele. The lunch menu consists of a mix of tempura and curry dishes. I opted for the "Tempura Set Meal" for 1100 yen. It comes with tempura, miso soup, and rice. I enjoyed the tempura with both the dipping sauce and salt. The tempura selection included chicken, lotus root, green pepper, enoki mushrooms, eggplant, smelt fish, and shrimp, all perfectly cooked. The shrimp had a slight tendon, but overall, the tempura was top-notch. Despite its appearance, this place serves authentic tempura.

Visited in May 2021 with a rating of 3.09 on Tabelog. I came to "Shinfukan" for the first time in about ten years since a friend's wedding reception. Today, I came to try the curry offered at "Tempura Tengin" in Shinfukan, which is a limited edition spring lunch. I fell in love with the curry after seeing a photo on Instagram. The menu with pictures displayed outside the restaurant included the "Sea Bream Soup Curry & Beef Tongue Keema" that I was looking for. I was surprised to see another option, the "Sea Bream and Seasonal Vegetable Soup Curry," as well. The lunch menu was quite extensive, but most items were over 1,000 yen. I ordered the "combination" curry as planned as soon as I sat at the counter. Since the large portion was free, I decided to go for it! The dish included beef tongue, daikon radish, squid, konjac, sea bream, seasonal vegetables (shishito peppers), clams, sea bream soup curry, homemade pickles, green onions, tempura flakes, and bonito powder. The soup curry had a subtle sea bream flavor and a mix of various tastes. The beef tongue keema was rich and creamy. Both curries were mildly spicy, so those who prefer spicier curries might find them a bit lacking. It would have been nice to have some chili spices on the table. After eating about half of each curry, I thoroughly mixed them together, which enhanced the flavor even more. I finished the meal with some pickled radish on a separate plate. The staff mentioned that the limited edition menu may continue for a while, but there was no clear answer, so I recommend visiting soon if you're interested. Thank you for the delicious meal.

There is no partition between the counter and the customers nowadays? I don't feel any COVID-19 measures at all, and even though I wanted to eat quickly and leave, the food is not coming out fast enough considering the few customers. I asked twice if it's still not ready yet, and I laughed at how small the tempura shiitake mushrooms were.

I didn't know they had a branch in Tokyo, so I entered thinking it looked delicious in Kyoto! From tempura to the seafood rice bowl at the end, everything was delicious! I love the combination of octopus and cucumber, so I was happy to see it on the menu! It turned out to be very good, so I want to visit the Tokyo branch as well.

Since the opening of Shinpukan, I have been looking for a place to have lunch and have visited frequently. It is always close to full capacity, so I had been curious but unable to get in. I arrived before 12 o'clock and had to wait outside the store for about 5 minutes. I ordered the 7-color tempura rice bowl. I was told to eat half as it is, and the other half with tempura dipping sauce and egg. I think it was delicious, but not worth waiting in line for. I hope for better service in the future. Thank you for the meal.
