■A sweets shop serving the "thickest matcha gelato in Japan" by Marushichi Seicha, a tea maker from Shizuoka. I stopped by when I was nearby to try it out. You can also enjoy the gelato inside the shop as there is seating available, making it a cool place to enjoy gelato even in the middle of summer. In addition to gelato, you can also purchase chocolates, tea, and other souvenirs.■Matcha Gelato 4-Flavor Tasting Set 800 yen (tax included)The set includes bite-sized matcha gelato that gradually becomes richer in flavor from top to bottom. Topped with matcha cookies, red bean paste, and white dumplings. No.1 has a slightly milder taste with a hint of white. As you go down, the matcha flavor intensifies gradually. No.7 allows you to directly experience the full matcha flavor. Tasting the gelato with white dumplings, red bean paste, or cookies adds a nice touch.■Store Information・Access: Approximately 6 minutes on foot from Karasuma Oike Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway Karasuma Line, approximately 8 minutes on foot from Karasuma Station on the Hankyu Kyoto Line・Business Hours: 10:00-18:00・Regular Holiday: 1st Tuesday of the month・Seating: Bench seating・Parking: None (Coin parking available nearby)・Cashless Payment: Available

I had gelato at Nanaya, which has its main store in Shizuoka. I chose the No.7 matcha and black sesame double scoop, which is said to be the richest in the world. First, I tried the black sesame gelato. The flavor of the sesame was strong and distinct, which I really enjoyed. Next was the No.7 matcha. It was indeed very rich, almost like drinking thick tea. However, it didn't have much bitterness and the sweetness was quite prominent. The portion size was not large, and at first, I found it a bit challenging to finish due to the intensity of the flavors. But as I got used to it, I managed to finish it all. Personally, I think the matcha gelato could have been a bit lighter in flavor. The black sesame gelato was really delicious and I would recommend trying it.

I was rejected at the Shizuoka main store (closed for the day), so I'm seeking revenge in Kyoto!! Finally got to try No.7!! Rich, delicious, and happy*:ஐ(●︎˘͈ ᵕ˘͈)❤︎.* If I find Nanaya, I definitely want to go in. I want to eat there. I want to live there (laughs). Lately, I've been in love with matcha. I love you ===========

Today's Snack Time at the shop "Nanaya Kyoto Sanjo Store" in Kyoto Sanjo. I chose the Matcha Gelato No.7. This shop offers the world's most intense matcha gelato. I had the premium No.7 this time, which is the most intense. It had a refreshing taste with a strong matcha flavor, leaving a great aftertaste. It was delicious. Thank you! #SnackTime #Gelato #MatchaGelato #NanayaKyotoSanjoStore #Matcha #KyotoFood #TravelWithGako #GakoSnack

At the Kyoto store, they have a matcha gelato made from 100% Uji matcha with 7 levels of matcha intensity. When I first visited, I somehow ordered No. 6. Since then, Nanaya has become a very popular shop. This time, I tried the most popular No. 7, which is the world's richest matcha gelato. It was delicious with a strong matcha flavor, and I finished it all. Next time, I want to try a matcha gelato tasting set. Thank you for the meal.

I was able to try four different types of matcha gelato for 800 yen, which came with red bean paste and mochi, making it feel like a good deal. The matcha became stronger as I went down the lineup, but because it was gelato, it was easy to eat. Next time I go, I'd like to try the hojicha or other flavors.

After finishing our visit to Imamiya Shrine and on our way to the restaurant where we had lunch reservations, we stumbled upon "Nanaya." This renowned tea house from Shizuoka, known for its innovative management, is famous for creating "the world's most intense matcha gelato." It was a challenging journey to perfect this gelato, with machines breaking down even now when making their "No. 7" gelato. When I told my wife about having tried this gelato at the main store in Shizuoka, she couldn't help but express her envy, saying she wished she could have tried it too. So, when we encountered this opportunity, her sweet tooth couldn't resist. Despite offering to come back after lunch, she insisted on having it right away. She came out with a satisfied smile, sitting outside the shop and enjoying the gelato. When I asked her how the "world's most intense matcha gelato" tasted, she surprised me by saying she chose "No. 6" instead. I couldn't believe it! Why would you do that? But she simply thought that something so intense might not be as enjoyable, and found the No. 6 to be incredibly delicious.

I had been wanting to visit a matcha ice cream shop in Kyoto for many years, and finally, my wish came true when I had a reason to go to Kyoto. The matcha ice cream had different levels of intensity from 1 to 7, creating a beautiful gradient. I was curious about other flavors like genmaicha, so I decided to go for a triple scoop with levels 7, 4, and the seasonal mango flavor. The staff were very polite and I enjoyed my ice cream inside the shop. I love matcha, so I was expecting it to be very bitter, but it was actually delicious and quite intense. I tried three flavors, and I liked level 7 the best. Level 4 was similar to Haagen-Dazs in my opinion. The difference between levels 4 and 7 was minimal. Maybe I could have tried level 3 to compare. The mango flavor was nothing special, just your typical mango taste. I also tried some craft chocolates and really liked them, but since it was still morning and I had plans to walk around in the hot weather, I decided to skip them.

I actually wanted to try No. 7, but I was worried it might be too strong, so I opted for No. 6 instead. No. 6 is indeed strong, but you can taste the matcha well and it's just right for adults. The milk was very sweet. I will challenge No. 7 next time! There was also an option to try 4 types of matcha (1, 3, 5, 7 I think) for 1000 yen, and I was also considering that, as it seemed good too.

After a stroll, I enjoyed a refreshing drink. I visited in search of the No.7, said to be the strongest in the world. It was indeed intense! However, it was easy to drink without any bitterness. Personally, I found the roasted green tea and brown rice tea to be very delicious. The sensation of the fragrant flavor spreading in my mouth was wonderful.

This is a famous shop that often appears on TV, known for its matcha ice cream where you can choose from 7 levels of richness. Despite being known for their ice cream, they also sell chocolates. You can enjoy your treats either on the benches outside or on the round chairs inside. I had a double cup of gelato, opting to pay extra for the richest matcha flavor "Premium NO7" and the Kyoto store exclusive "Kyobancha Walnut". Unfortunately, they didn't quite meet my taste preferences. The "Kyobancha Walnut" was extremely sweet, almost like a lump of sugar. The cinnamon was noticeable, but the overwhelming sweetness masked the tea flavor. As for the "World's Richest Matcha Gelato" with high expectations, it was not as intense as I had hoped. While it was rich, I've had richer and more tea-flavored matcha ice cream in other Kyoto shops. It's easy to eat, but in terms of value for money, I don't think I'll be revisiting. Just my personal opinion. Thank you for the meal.

I saw on TV that there is a shop with the world's thickest matcha gelato... I happened to come across it!! So I want to try it out~! There are some benches in front of the shop, so if they are available, it would be lucky♬ The matcha gelato thickness is rated on a scale of 7 levels♬ A single cup costs ¥400, and No.7 is an additional ¥220. I chose No.5 \( ˆoˆ )/ while my partner decided to go for No.7 (^◻︎^)Even at No.5, it was rich and smooth, absolutely delicious!!! It's way better than high-end matcha ice cream you can buy in stores!!! (*≧∀≦*) I also tried my partner's No.7... yes, it is indeed very rich in flavor~(^ν^)So tasty♬♬ I was impressed!!! Inside the shop, there were various matcha products... I'm curious about the matcha chocolate as well. Lately, I've been making and drinking matcha lattes but haven't quite achieved my ideal taste... I found an easy matcha can for ¥540 for 40g, matcha cup chocolates for ¥390, and bottled tea for ¥240. I bought each of them...♪(´ε` ) The bottled tea was... just okay, even though it was twice the price I usually pay, I had higher expectations. I made a matcha latte using the easy matcha... it has oligosaccharides but is not too sweet and tastes delicious♬ It dissolved easily even in cold milk (^^) The matcha chocolate was the best! It's so delicious! The matcha flavor is strong!!! My partner also loved it!! I thought this shop originated in Kyoto, but when I checked the label on the back, it was actually in Shizuoka Prefecture♪

I visited the restaurant around 12:40 on Saturday. There were two other customers. There were 4 seats inside and 1 child seat, as well as 4 seats outside. I tried the Double Cup for 470 yen. It was mentioned that after №5, the bitterness gets stronger, but it wasn't overwhelmingly bitter and I enjoyed it. I ordered something different and ended up with "genmaicha flavor," which was surprisingly delicious. I would definitely want to come back for this unique taste.

I visited this shop in Kyoto, which has its main store in Shizuoka City. I was curious about their matcha gelato, said to have the highest concentration of matcha in the world. When I tried it at the main store, it was truly shocking. Similarly, the Kyoto store also had an impressive intensity that left a strong impression. As a side note, I also tried their refreshing hojicha gelato to balance out the intense matcha flavor.

At Nanaya Kyoto Sanjo store in Kyoto City, you can enjoy the world's richest matcha gelato. You can choose the intensity of matcha from 7 levels, and it is said that the combination with other flavors is important. Anyway, the richer the matcha, the better it tastes!! Just my opinion, haha.

On Saturday at 12:30, we visited Din's (Din's) at Nanaya Sanjo store for lunch. The single cup costs 370 yen and the double cup costs 470 yen. I chose "Japanese black tea" and my daughter chose "Matcha 4" and "Gyokuro". The matcha comes in levels from "1" to "7", with higher numbers indicating a stronger flavor. The matcha seemed to be from Shizuoka. The store doesn't have tables but has chairs, so we were able to enjoy our drinks there. Although the store is known for its matcha, I really enjoyed the subtle sweetness of the Japanese black tea I had. My daughter and I shared and enjoyed our drinks. I was interested in the matcha chocolate sold there, so I would like to visit again. Thank you for the meal.

I had been curious about this shop since seeing it in a magazine before. It seems to be a tea shop with its main store in Shizuoka. I was surprised to find it right in the heart of Kyoto! This time, I purchased the most concentrated gelato, which was a bit more expensive than usual, about 200 yen extra! But the taste was quite rich in return. It had a deep flavor similar to sencha rather than matcha. It's more of a place where you sit on the chairs outside the shop rather than inside. Since it's a cold treat, it's a shop I'd like to visit during the good seasons. Maybe in the pre-COVID times, you could even eat inside? Next time, I'd like to try flavors like black tea.

I visited a shop with the catchphrase "The world's richest matcha." They offer matcha flavors ranging from No.1 to No.7, with No.7 being the richest in the world. I wanted to try a taste comparison, so I chose the recommended No.3. I ordered a double scoop of matcha ice cream, one scoop of No.3 and one scoop of No.7, for 670 yen. No.3 had a nice balance of creaminess and delicious standard matcha flavor. On the other hand, No.7 had a very intense flavor and a deep green color, truly asserting its matcha taste. After trying it, I felt that one scoop was enough. It was a fun experience, and I am grateful. The shop also had perfect COVID-19 measures in place.

In March 2020, I went to Kyoto in the afternoon. Since I had some time before dinner, I decided to stop by "Nanaya Kyoto Sanjo Store" for a quick gelato treat. I thought they would use Uji matcha because it's Kyoto, but they actually use Shizuoka matcha from Fujieda (Marushichi Seicha). When I entered the store, I saw a variety of gelato flavors lined up (they also have a tea leaf sales corner in the back). The lineup of gelato was mostly green, reflecting the tea theme of the shop. The gelato flavors available that day were as follows: Matcha Gelato No. 1 to No. 7 (No. 1 being lighter and No. 7 being more intense), Black Sesame, Chocolate, Strawberry, Plain (Milk), Adzuki Bean, Hojicha, Japanese Black Tea, Genmaicha, Citrus Highball, Gyokuro, Kinako Walnut, Salted Caramel. I chose a double cup with "Matcha Gelato No. 7" and "Kinako Walnut" flavors. I enjoyed them in the store. Matcha Gelato No. 7 was incredibly rich but not overly bitter, with a smooth and enjoyable taste. The Kinako Walnut was a perfect palate cleanser after the intense matcha, and it was delicious as always. Overall, it was a satisfying treat.

The incredibly rich new MACHA7 chocolate caught my attention. The chocolate has a beautiful gradient like a xylophone, colored from green to brown. It comes in seven levels of matcha and eight levels of deep hojicha. It is made without using milk, which is a distinctive feature. The richest matcha flavor was absolutely delicious!

Today was a gourmet tour in Kyoto! Finally got to visit Nanaya, the matcha gelato shop I've been wanting to try. You can choose from 7 levels of matcha intensity for your gelato. I ordered No.3 and No.7. No.3 was easy to eat and just right for those who like regular matcha. No.7 didn't feel as intense as I expected, but that may be due to matcha overload today. Even at its strongest, matcha lovers will enjoy it! Honestly, if you come here, I recommend trying No.7. It's something you can't get elsewhere and will leave a lasting impression. I definitely want to come back again.
