It seems like a 130-year-old traditional house. We drove there and parked at a paid parking lot a short distance away before walking to the restaurant. The dishes were made with plenty of organic vegetables. Time passes leisurely. The course menu costs 3500 yen. It was a sunny day, but even a fan was enough to keep cool. I highly recommend this great restaurant when you are nearby.

In mid-February, I visited for a 3500 yen (excluding tax) lunch course that I had reserved by email a month in advance. I was asked to take off my shoes before entering the old folk house. The dishes were beautiful and seemed good for the body! I couldn't believe this quality at this price. The course included dishes like carpaccio of rockfish, a soup with helmet shellfish and local chicken egg tofu, pizza, chicken meatballs, grilled rice balls with sauce, and a dessert of frozen crème brûlée. Everything was delicious!! I will definitely go back again.

Lunch costs 3850 yen. The surroundings are all old folk houses, but the lunch is full of flavor. The appetizers include Kyoto-style simmered dishes and traditional Japanese dishes. Skilled red snapper and egg tofu. Marinated octopus. Pizza with Kujo green onions and spinach. Wild boar and fish. Black rice grilled rice balls in a sauce. Catalan cream. Coffee. Depending on the season, there are quite a few vegetable dishes. There is about a 30-minute interval between each dish during the 2-hour meal. At the end, I was hungry again. The dishes seem to be good for the body.

I made a reservation for lunch at this restaurant three weeks ago. It is located along the road leading to Jakkoin Temple. The lunch is only available as a course menu for 3500 yen including tax. The meal included various appetizers like burdock root, chili peppers with dried baby sardines, carrots with sesame, pumpkin with sansho pepper, and yam with sesame dressing. The soup had red snapper and egg tofu, and there was a fresh salad with basil and honey sauce. The main course was grilled chicken with various toppings and tempura with sweet shrimp, taro, bamboo shoots, broccoli, and turnip. The dessert, Catalana, was delicious, and the meal ended perfectly with bitter coffee. The lunch lasted for a generous 2 hours, with a wide variety of dishes and ample portions. Every dish had a gentle flavor. I would love to visit again when I'm in Ohara.

Lunch at the old folk house restaurant Wappado in Kyoto's Ohara Sanzenin. Visited Jakkoin and Sanzenin, then had a late lunch at the traditional restaurant Wappado. The dishes were all delicious and impressive, with plenty of tasty vegetables. The green onion pizza was so light and delicious that I could easily eat a whole piece. The thin crust was amazing! The meat and rice were also really tasty. And don't think it ends there - the dessert was also delicious. The restroom had forks and spoons instead of chopsticks.

I visited a Kyoto vegetable shop in Ohara, which is quite far from the city and feels like a little trip. The air is different and the sunlight is dazzling, but the shade is cool. There is no parking lot, so I parked at the paid parking lot of Ohara Workshop (300 yen all day). After a 5-6 minute walk, a splendid 130-year-old traditional Japanese house appears. I took off my shoes, entered, and sat at a table for two. Lunch is by reservation only, a 3500 yen course. The menu included: 5 kinds of appetizers, chicken and egg tofu, rockfish carpaccio, and red okra and cucumber somen noodles. The vegetables were very fresh, but a bit bitter. The atmosphere of Ohara and the freshness of the vegetables grown by the shop owner were impressive. The dishes felt like an extension of home-cooked meals, but the cool air of Ohara and the owner's seasonings were a nice touch.

I visited this restaurant for the second time. Last time, I went with my parents and it was really delicious, so I decided to go back after a few months. This time, I went with my husband. Since we drove there, my husband had a non-alcoholic drink and I had a beer. The location can be a bit hard to find for first-timers, but it's in a nostalgic setting, as it's a renovated house. There were foreigners there last time, and this time too. It had a Kyoto-like and Japanese atmosphere. When you open the door and enter, you can smell the aroma of the wood burning stove, which is exciting. The inside of the restaurant gives a feeling of time passing slowly, so it's not recommended for those in a hurry. But for those who want to relax and enjoy, this place is a must-visit! The dishes ranged from Japanese cuisine to pizza and carpaccio, and ended with grilled rice balls in tea. If you ever go to Ohara, I highly recommend this place! Thank you for the delicious meal.

I was healed by a lunch full of early autumn vegetables. I think 2500 yen is a great deal. I feel like my mind and body have become healthier. It all starts with growing organic vegetables and rice, and finally being able to eat them. I deeply felt grateful and enjoyed the delicious meal.

I was about to enter a shop renovated from an old folk house. It would be great if I could take a nap after eating.

Last year, I casually saw a TV program featuring "Wappado" where you can enjoy exquisite dishes made with fresh vegetables in an old folk house in the mountain village. I immediately wanted to go there, but decided to wait for the right opportunity. Initially, I thought of going with friends who often gather in Kyoto. However, when I checked the access from Kyoto Station, it was a one-hour bus ride. So, I gave up on that plan and decided to drive there instead, as it would only take an hour from my house. I visited with my mother, in the popular area of "Ohara" in Kyoto. Despite the heavy rain that day, we managed to reach Wappado. It is a charming old folk house with a 130-year history. The place operates by reservation only, and even on weekdays, all seats except for the counter were reserved. They were very accommodating, asking about any food preferences or allergies when making the reservation. We were open to trying everything, so we left it up to them. We had the lunch course for 2500 yen, which included a variety of dishes such as appetizers, gratin, salad, pizza, grilled items, tempura, rice dish, and dessert. The dishes were all delicious and beautifully presented, with unique flavors and ingredients. The standout for us was the gratin made with bamboo shoots, which was the most delicious dish of the day. Overall, it was a memorable dining experience despite the rainy weather and we wished we could have enjoyed some sake with the meal.

In a quaint shop inside an old traditional house, the walk from the parking lot to the shop was a delightful experience in itself. Starting with appetizers, a variety of flavors using seasonal ingredients kept coming, allowing us to try many unfamiliar foods in one day! The only downside was that the final coffee was a bit lukewarm, but other than that, it was a very enjoyable experience.
