Taiwanese classic sweets such as douhua, xiancao, and aiyu jelly have become more popular in Japan with the increase of chain stores like MeetFresh and So Dou Hua. However, this particular store specializes in douhua and surpasses the original taste of Taiwan. The owner also runs a shop called Tokyo Doujiang Life in Gotanda, making him an expert in Taiwanese cuisine. The "All Toppings" douhua costs 770 yen and is made by adding gypsum to soy milk to create a slightly softer texture than tofu. The toppings vary weekly and include purple yam balls, pumpkin balls, sweet potato balls, taro balls, lotus seeds, mung beans, adzuki beans, barley, purple rice, sweet potato, taro, shiratama, tapioca, white fungus, Job's tears, peanuts, and more. The "Fungui" topping made from sweet potato starch has a jelly-like texture and is highly recommended. During summer, they serve it with frozen brown sugar syrup, perfect for the hot weather. The brown sugar used is from Amami Oshima and adds a rich flavor to the dish. The douhua here is as delicious as the one found in the Ningxia Night Market in Taiwan. Thank you for the meal.

I visited a store that serves a popular Taiwanese dessert called "Douhua" (a softer version of tofu made from soy milk). The store is called "Akihabara Gyokou Kaikai" and is located near Akihabara Station. The store was quiet when I visited, with simple and clean interior. The menu is simple, offering plain or topped Douhua. I ordered the topped Douhua with all toppings, which was served in a bowl with a generous amount of syrup and various toppings such as sweet beans, green beans, and agar jelly. The Douhua was smooth and silky, and the toppings added a nice texture and flavor. Overall, I was very satisfied with the dessert and it reminded me of Taiwan.

I tried Taiwanese sweets for the first time. The taste was a new experience for me. The feeling of eating it was that it had healthy toppings, a lot of bean-based items, and the sweetness was brought out by red beans, so I had a good dessert. If I have the chance, I would like to go again.

The interior of the shop was cute and had a nice atmosphere. The menu was simple and easy to choose from. I was happy that I could have all the toppings. I want to try the warm tofu pudding next time. It was a shame that there were few seats inside the shop, but I still enjoyed waiting and eating there.

You can enjoy sweets here without feeling guilty, and it's refreshing to eat especially in the summer. The shop is small with about 6-7 seats. The staff may seem a bit cold depending on the time, but you can just think that's their personality. I prefer the tofu over the anmitsu. Toppings are recommended. The menu offers a choice between plain or with toppings.

It's been a while since I came here. The tables are still only two. I wish they could change this arrangement somehow because I think the rotation is not good. Unfortunately, I was the third person in line, and the tables were full with customers who had just placed their orders, so I had to wait. A bit disappointed, I was offered to eat on the bench in front of the counter. Luckily, I had plans later, so it worked out. I chose a cold dessert to beat the intense heat and of course, I added all the toppings. The dessert was perfectly chilled, with a nice balance of the jelly-like texture of the tofu pudding and the chewiness of the rice. The white wood ear mushrooms also added a great texture. After finishing, I was so full that I had to cancel my lunch plans. Since my favorite shop is nearby, I decided to always come here as a set! I happily headed to do some shopping.

I love tofu pudding and saw it on social media, but my expectations may have been too high. The broth was too much and there were only a few places where you could eat. I went with friends and it seemed like there were differences in portion sizes, some had more and some had less. With toppings, it costs 770 yen. I recommend it for those who want to try something that they can't eat elsewhere. By the way, there are only two tables, so it felt like a quick eat and leave kind of place.

In front of Kanda Yabu Soba, there is a Taiwanese tofu pudding shop called Tokyo Doujiang Life, which is also popular in Gotanda. The shop has a simple layout with only two small tables inside. There are bench seats at the entrance, but you cannot eat in there. Since the seats were full, I placed my order and waited for a while. The menu offers only two options: plain or with toppings. The price remains the same whether you choose all toppings or just a few. I decided to go with all toppings, which included mung beans, purple rice, Job's tears, white fungus, peanuts, red beans, white balls, and powder cake. You can also choose between warm, cold, or the summer limited edition with ice. I initially thought of getting warm, but due to the extreme heat, I ended up choosing cold. The tofu pudding had a subtly sweet and refreshing taste with a delightful tofu texture. It reminded me of the authentic Taiwanese tofu pudding. Next time, I'll try the tofu pudding in Gotanda.

I love the Tokyo Tofu Pudding Life, a branch of Gotanda that I love so much. I never imagined that I could enjoy such delicious tofu pudding in Tokyo, it brought tears to my eyes! I always prefer my tofu pudding warm, even on hot summer days (which is the default at this location). I opted for all the recommended toppings. They don't use any preservatives or artificial flavors, and they make fresh tofu pudding every day without storing any. The syrup is not too sweet, and the toppings have a natural taste that really brings out the flavor of each ingredient. It's like having delicious tofu pudding on a street corner in Taiwan. Despite being quite filling, it's easy to finish it all in one go. The entrance is usually left open, so it can get a bit warm inside, but it adds to the authentic Taiwan street food experience! I will definitely visit again when I'm nearby!

Because I'm not feeling well, I decided to come here and eat douhua, letting my body choose what it wants. The syrup on the tofu is not too sweet, so it should be gentle on my body. Since it's getting hot, I think having it cold or with ice would be nice, but for my health, I ordered it warm with toppings. Based on my past experience, I chose powder cake as the main topping, with tangyuan and white fungus as the three additional toppings. It's been a while since I last had it, but the mild sweetness and gentle taste are enjoyable. The sweetness and texture of the powder cake and white fungus are a nice accent. I could probably have two servings easily, but I'll take it easy today.

This is a popular tofu pudding shop that often appears in the media. I ordered the "all toppings" option for 770 yen. I like Western-style cakes and coconut milk-based Asian sweets, with a preference for desserts that are not too sweet and easy to eat. Taiwanese sweets like this are gentle on the stomach and I crave them occasionally. The "all toppings" option is recommended, especially the powder cake (fungui) which was delicious. Made from sweet potato flour, it has a smooth texture similar to bracken rice cake and tastes great. I also like the sweet potato garden, but this was also good. The tofu pudding and syrup flavors were also delicious. Thank you for the meal.

In front of Kanda Yabusoba, there is a Taiwanese traditional tofu pudding specialty shop. Tofu is topped with syrup and your choice of toppings. You can choose between cold or warm tofu, and black sugar or ginger syrup. There is limited seating inside the shop with only two tables and a bench near the entrance. I ordered a warm tofu pudding with all the toppings. Although the seats were full initially, a table opened up while I was ordering. After a while, the tofu pudding arrived. Today's toppings included red beans, peanuts, Job's tears, white fungus, mung beans, purple rice, white pearls, and sweet potato starch balls. First, I tasted the tofu. It was lightly sweet with a soft texture, and I liked that it wasn't too sweet. I gradually enjoyed the toppings one by one. The standout was the sweet potato starch balls, which had a great texture and flavor. Before leaving, I confirmed that you can adjust the toppings, although the selection may vary. Next time, I would like to choose my own toppings to suit my preferences.

A friend told me about a new tofu pudding shop, so I decided to try it out. Since I had plans in the evening, I opted for takeout. I ordered the tofu pudding with toppings, choosing the cold black sugar syrup. The shop was small with only two tables, so I waited for my order to be ready. The wait was about 2-3 minutes. The tofu pudding was delicious, with a balanced sweetness. I shared it with a friend and the portion was generous. Next time, I'll try a different syrup flavor and maybe even the warm option. Thank you for the meal!

This is a shop that I had been curious about for a long time. They are said to recreate the authentic taste of Taiwan. The menu has two options: plain or with toppings, and this time I chose the one with toppings. I went with the winter limited warm ginger syrup. The syrup was not hot but at a pleasantly warm temperature, with a refreshing sweetness. The douhua had a soft, silky tofu-like texture and I felt it wasn't overly sweet. I visited on the weekend and there were a few groups lined up. Since there are few seats, it felt like you have to leave soon after eating, so you can't relax. I would like to come back when it's less crowded, like on weekdays. Thank you very much.

After having lunch in Akasaka, I walked around the warm city and ended up at this shop. It's not a normal walking distance, but in order to eat deliciously, I need to burn the calories I consumed. Plus, it was a warm day and walking around the city led to new discoveries, making time fly by. I arrived at the shop around 4 pm, with only two groups of customers. The shop offers eat-in options, but there are only two tables, so you may have to wait depending on the timing. I ordered the cold black sugar syrup bean curd with all toppings. The gentle sweetness of the syrup, tofu, and various bean toppings creates a comforting feeling. It's a guilt-free sweet treat. I will definitely visit again when I'm in the area.

The taste is neither good nor bad, the operation is confusing as they don't guide you in the order of lining up, they might move you to a different seat while you're eating, and the default seating arrangement requires you to move to open the toilet door for someone else. It's just chaotic.

The small shop has only two table seats. The bright interior, open door, and large glass windows create a cozy atmosphere. I'm not sure if Taiwan is like this, but it feels very comfortable to visit on a sunny afternoon. I chose the topping bean curd and enjoyed trying different toppings by reducing 1 or 2 depending on my mood. The bean curd is similar to regular tofu, with red beans and green beans having a subtle sweetness and a bean flavor. The soft texture of the peanuts is surprisingly delicious. It might be worth reducing other toppings and adding more peanuts. The brown sugar syrup has a refreshing sweetness. A customer who arrived later ordered a warm topping bean curd, and it looked incredibly delicious with steam rising from the bowl. I should revisit before it gets too hot and try the warm version.

I went to "Tokyo Douhua Workshop" located right in front of the famous "Kanda Yabusoba". They offer authentic Taiwanese "douhua" desserts. The menu only has two options: "Plain Douhua for 550 yen" and "Topping Douhua for 770 yen". There was also another option called "Hua Dou (Peanut) Douhua for 800 yen" posted on the top right. I decided to try the "Topping Douhua" as the plain one seemed a bit lonely with just tofu and syrup depicted in the picture. The douhua is handmade daily using traditional Taiwanese methods. The owner asked if I wanted it warm or cold, and I chose cold. I also chose black sugar syrup. The douhua came with various toppings floating in the syrup, with the tofu underneath. The syrup was less sweet than I expected, and the tofu tasted similar to regular tofu. The toppings included restrained sweet red bean paste, boiled peanuts, white mochi balls, popcorn-like beans, agar jelly, and frog egg-like agar jelly. It was a unique and not too sweet dessert that even someone like me, who is not a big fan of sweet treats, enjoyed. It was an interesting experience of Taiwanese cuisine!

Topping variety platter for 770 yen. I ordered the cold black sugar flavored tofu pudding. The tofu was softer than I imagined, with a gentle sweetness of black sugar flavor, and unique toppings such as Job's tears, purple rice, mung beans, and boiled peanuts that are characteristic of tofu pudding. Each topping was carefully made and delicious on its own. The boiled peanuts were very soft. The texture of the rice balls was just right. The various textures were enjoyable and not boring. The toppings seem to change daily. The sweetness was just right for me, as I like sweet things but not overly sweet. The portion was generous but I was able to finish it feeling refreshed. I would like to try tofu pudding at other shops as well. I wanted to try pumpkin dumplings and purple sweet potato dumplings, so I would like to visit again if I have the chance.

I stopped by the soba shop across the street to warm up before heading in for dessert. The toppings change daily, and unfortunately they didn't have my favorite taro that day. So, I decided to go for the full topping of douhua with warm ginger syrup. I was curious about warm douhua, but it turned out to be perfect for winter with a gentle, soothing taste. They also had a black sugar syrup option. Since it wasn't too crowded due to the season and the late hour, it was easy to get a seat. I never expected to find such a stylish place on the outskirts of Akihabara. However, as more people came in, it quickly filled up. The seating is limited and the interior isn't very warm, so it might be better to eat quickly and leave. They have books and guidebooks inside focused on Taiwan, so it made me crave Taiwanese food!

It is located across from Kanda Yabusoba. We stopped by while waiting for the soba restaurant. We have been to Taiwan several times, so we have eaten douhua many times. The one here is trying hard, but compared to the delicious shops in Taiwan, it was disappointing.
