On the 12th day of my solo trip, I made a last-minute hotel reservation in Kyoto Tango City. The hotel is located next to a roadside station. I didn't expect much from breakfast since it was connected to a roadside station, but it turned out to be a surprisingly delicious buffet with a good mix of Japanese and Western dishes. The food was high quality and the flavors were gentle, bringing out the freshness of the ingredients. There was a wide variety of vegetables, giving me a healthy start to the day. I had to resist overeating at breakfast, but it was a great way to kick off a good day.

Tango Ajwai no Sato was rebranded as Tango Kingdom "Food Capital" in April 2015. The former Ajwai no Sato, now called Yurapia Hotel, was renamed Tango Kingdom Hotel. It boasts one of the largest road stations in western Japan, offering famous gourmet foods and local products from Tango, as well as hosting various events. On the day of my visit, a local chamber of commerce event was taking place over the weekend. The hotel, situated on a vast, nature-rich property, features athletic facilities and spaces for interacting with animals, allowing visitors to enjoy Tango's specialties and gourmet foods all day long. Despite the chilly winds on Sunday, many people still came to visit. The large communal bath offers radon hot springs with a slightly lukewarm weak alkaline temperature of around 38°C, with an admission fee of 150 yen. The hotel has 26 guest rooms and serves a breakfast buffet with around 40-50 dishes, including pickles, possibly made by Nishitoshi. There is a bakery called Anju Bakery within Tango Kingdom, which offers bread, and they use Tango-grown rice and other local ingredients. I ate so much for breakfast that I wasn't hungry until dinner time. It seems like I overindulged a bit! (laughs) With various events happening throughout the day, time flies by quickly.
