Today I had work at Toji Temple, and after finishing work, my colleague and I decided to go for a drink at Yoshitori, a yakitori izakaya in Kujo. It's quite popular on Saturday nights. They have a vinyl barrier for COVID-19 prevention. The place has two staff members, and you order using a touch panel which is very convenient. Unfortunately, they were sold out of sand liver. We started with a highball and draft beer to cheers. We quickly ordered some edamame, tomato slices, and grilled items like chicken tenderloin, shiso rolls, and quail. We arrived at 10 pm and last order was at 11 pm, so we quickly enjoyed our meal. It's nice to visit a yakitori place like Yoshitori once in a while, the food came out fast and was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

Today, I went to the sports gym for the first time in a while and ran into a friend. We decided to go out for drinks. Yoshitori Kyoto Kujo is a yakitori restaurant located near Oishi Bridge. There was a sign in front of the restaurant that said "Yakitori with wine," which had caught my attention before. First, we ordered a yakitori assortment and some wine. The liver, heart, and gizzard went really well with the wine. There was also a unique drink called "Ichiban Shibori Frozen" with frozen foam on top. It was quite interesting! We also tried other dishes like pickled radish and ginger, fried chicken, sausages, chicken nanban, meat and potatoes, grilled mackerel, and french fries. We had quite a variety of dishes while chatting about work. It was a cozy izakaya with a nice atmosphere.

We went to have dinner with two people. There were counter seats and several 4-person tables, as well as seating on the second floor. Towards the back of the 4-person tables, there were cute dog-patterned blankets laid out. It seemed like there were many regular customers, as they were chatting with each other and the atmosphere was lively. However, it didn't feel unwelcoming for newcomers, so it was a good vibe overall. We each had a drink, a platter of skewers (5 types with 2 each), and a few other items, which came out to just under 4000 yen. The price was reasonable, especially since we didn't eat a lot. The taste was good overall, although some of the skewers were a bit too strongly seasoned. The only thing that bothered us was the service. When we tried to place our order by saying "excuse me," the staff at the counter didn't respond well and it was hard to tell if they heard us or not. Even after being told "coming right up," they still prioritized taking another customer's payment and it took a while for them to come take our order. It would have been nice if they could at least say "please wait a moment." It's not a big deal, but because of this, we deducted 0.5 points for service.

This time, work ran late and dinner turned into a late-night meal. With limited options, I decided to try out this restaurant on a whim. It was a typical yakitori chain restaurant in the area. I didn't have high expectations, given the circumstances. The prices were standard. I ordered a salad, assorted yakitori skewers, and agedashi tofu, keeping it safe. The food tasted pretty much as I expected. There were no standout dishes that I would consider a hit, nor were there any extremely disappointing items that would make me vow never to return. The only downside was that the beer I had, after a long time, was a bit watered down.
