"Sizuya" is a local bakery in Kyoto that has been familiar to locals for a long time, along with "Shinshindo." It is located inside the AEON Mall Kyoto Katsuragawa store. One of their signature bread is the "Carne" (250 yen), which is a ham and onion sandwich with margarine between slices of bread. The bread itself has a unique texture and flavor, making it a must-try. Another popular item is the "Cascut Mini" (250 yen), a sandwich made with French bread, ham, and cheese. The simplicity of the ingredients allows the bread's flavor to shine through. In contrast to the overly elaborate and gimmicky breads in the market, Sizuya's bread focuses on the quality of the bread itself. The "Original Beef Cutlet Sandwich" (650 yen) stands out for having two beef cutlets in each sandwich, making it a luxurious treat. The focus is on the toast bread and sauce, rather than the quality of the cutlets. Overall, Sizuya offers delicious and satisfying bread options that are worth trying. After having lunch at the food court in Ion Mall Kyoto Katsuragawa, I went shopping at the bakery "Shizuya" located on the 1st floor of Katsuragawa Koji. Shizuya is a popular bakery that was established in 1948 in Kawaramachi. The store is named "KYOTOSizuya" and has a stylish atmosphere. Inside the store, there were various types of bread displayed, all looking delicious. I couldn't resist buying more than just the famous Carne bread. I was particularly drawn to the cute "Pork Stew Bread" and ended up adding it to my tray along with other items. The Carne bread came in different varieties such as "Pepper Carne," "Cheese Carne," "Danish Carne," and even a red labeled "Carne." I decided to buy something unique that I could only find in this store. Another reason for my visit was to go to "Miyama Megumi Milk Factory." They offer sweets made with Miyama milk from the nature-rich area of Miyama in Kyoto. The rich and milky Miyama milk was used in their gelato and ice cream, which I had tried before and loved. Unfortunately, I had to give up on buying the gelato this time as there was no place to sit and enjoy it. I purchased only the Miyama milk and had to skip the gelato. I ended up getting the Carne bread, and to my surprise, it was not the spicy one I was expecting, but a normal Carne bread. I also bought the Danish Carne bread, which was delicious when toasted. The Pork Stew Bread was rich and flavorful, with a soft and fluffy bread dough. Overall, the experience was enjoyable, and I would definitely buy the Pork Stew Bread again if I have the chance. There was another item that I forgot the name of, but it was also delicious. It seems that they also offer eat-in options.

It is a shop with delicious bread and a café. Personally, I love Carne! I visited to buy Carne. This time, I got the Truffle Mayonnaise Pepper Carne and the classic Carne. The bread is soft and tasty, even though my weak teeth feel like they might fall out. The filling with onions and ham is simple yet exquisite. The Truffle Mayonnaise Pepper Carne seems to be a collaboration with JoJo, but I don't know the connection between JoJo and Carne because I'm an old man. I could taste the mayonnaise pepper flavor, but couldn't really taste the truffle. Overall, it was a delicious Carne.

This is a bakery on the first floor of Ion Katsuragawa. It is a well-established bread chain store in Kyoto. The variety of bread is often limited, especially in the evening. However, my husband loves their bread and happily chooses some for snacks and for the next morning. On this day, he picked a chocolate bread and a melon bread. He was disappointed that they didn't have any New Bird bread.

I went to Shizuya at Aeon Katsuragawa in Kyoto and had the Cheese Carne (270 yen) and Iced Tea (set price) (470-100 yen). Today I visited Kyoto to pay respects at a grave. After that, it was tea time. Whenever I come to Kyoto, I always buy Carne from Shizuya to take home. But when I searched online, I found a cafe (not a full-fledged eat-in place, more like a large bakery) and decided to visit for a snack. Just like at Shizuya, I placed the bread on a tray, paid at the register, and they warmed up the Carne in a toaster and brought it to my table along with my drink. Hmm, as always, the Carne was delicious! My wife, who loves bread, discovered a new type of Carne called "Danish Carne" and was very excited. Looks like we'll be trying this pattern more often from now on.

I visited around 12:30 on a weekday and bought some bread for takeout, but also ordered a drink to have there. Besides the bread, they also had lunch menu items available. I bought a croque monsieur and a cream puff, and ordered an iced cafe mocha. The croque monsieur was cut in half for easier eating. They didn't suggest reheating, but the bread wasn't too hard, so it was fine as is. The cafe had about half the tables occupied, and being an open-air cafe in a mall, it didn't feel closed off, which was nice. The bread was tasty, though the croque monsieur was a bit difficult to eat. The cream puff was filled generously, almost spilling over, and the bread was soft. The cafe mocha was a bit diluted with ice, but overall it was convenient and easy to visit. It's great that you can bring your shopping cart inside as well. I'll definitely visit again.

I stopped by to buy my favorite Carne. I noticed that there was a "Denish Carne" sticker on it at this time. Next to the regular Carne, there was also a Pepper Carne! I had never seen it before, so I decided to buy both the Carne and the Pepper Carne to try. Inside, they are the same as Carne and Pepper Carne. The difference is probably that the bread is Danish, making the flavor richer and the saltiness stronger. It tastes really good. I think I'll have the regular Carne for breakfast and the Pepper Carne for dinner.

The other day, I tried a bread called "New Bird" at a well-known bakery, but I was disappointed because the flavor was surprisingly bland. I wondered if it was just a bad batch, so when I saw the same bread at another bakery, I decided to give it another try. Unfortunately, it was the same lackluster taste. I couldn't understand why it's so popular among locals, but I guess there must be some charm that only locals can appreciate. However, considering the price of over 200 yen, it seems a bit expensive.

I bought the limited edition February-only Chocolat Whip Sandwich. It's like a luxurious version of the nostalgic "Silver Chocolate" from the past. The bread is soft and the chocolate flavor is rich and crispy. The whipped cream is also delicious. I like the combination of textures. I wish this could become a regular menu item.

Kyoto's long-established bakery. If you're from Kyoto, you probably have a favorite bakery that you've been familiar with since you were a child. For my husband, it's Shizuya = New Bird. I bought ohagi at Koufukudo and when I turned around, my husband was gone (^-^; I looked around and found him in front of Shizuya's register. He said, "Freshly fried ones just came out." When we got home, it was almost dinner time. I thought we bought snacks, ohagi. What are you thinking? But when we got home, my husband quickly snatched it and said, "It's still warm and delicious." Well, I also had half of it (≧▽≦)

I'm feeling a bit hungry. I'll buy some bread♪ After shopping, I'll have Mister Donut for a snack. For my hunger, I'll go to Shitsuya. My stomach was surprised by the naming of the bread "Kotatsu with Mandarin Orange" (laughs). Thank you for the delicious meal.

On this day, I took my mother-in-law to Katsura River Aeon for shopping. We decided to take a break in this place. I ordered a carne for 190 yen and an iced coffee for 380 yen, while my wife ordered a cream bun for 180 yen and an iced coffee for 380 yen (you get a 100 yen discount on drinks if you order bread). Since it was early for lunch and I hadn't eaten much, I chose the bread set. My mother-in-law had a Suzu Ramune soda for 550 yen. The carne was heated up and surprisingly delicious. It seems that it tastes better when slightly toasted. The cream bun was filled with custard and had just the right amount of sweetness. The Suzu Ramune soda was refreshing and tasty. Overall, it's a great place for a quick lunch break while shopping.

Ion Mall on the first floor near the food section, there is a cafe attached to Shizuya. I often visit this mall for shopping, especially recently I have been using the paid play area on the third floor. Surprisingly, children as young as 3 years old can enter alone! Parents can have free time during that time! It's a maximum of 2 and a half hours, so you might just have enough time to catch a movie. But being able to shop freely on weekends while my daughter plays is the best. Before, I used to be able to shop while my daughter was at kindergarten, but now that I have started working, my shopping time has been limited. So, while my daughter is playing with all her might, I can shop freely and then take a break at the nearby cafe Shizuya! I felt like having something sweet, so I ordered the following: - Pancake with strawberries and custard from the bakery set for 950 yen My husband ordered: - Pancake with maple syrup and sweet red beans from the bakery set for 950 yen. It's great that you can enjoy pancakes with a drink for under 1000 yen! The pancakes are cooked after you order them. The "Pancake with strawberries and custard" has a large and thick pancake. The surface is crispy and well-cooked. It comes with plenty of cream and soft serve ice cream. The strawberries are not fresh, but there is a generous amount of strawberry jam on top. The warm pancake goes well with the cold soft serve ice cream! The pancake itself is sweet, perfect for a snack! It's convenient to be able to stop by after shopping. I haven't reviewed their bread because it's too much work, but I occasionally buy bread from there as well. It's nice that they have different types of bread too.

Every morning at Damande ~ Shizuya in Katsuragawa ~ My child liked the Katsuragawa limited almond croissant, so I went to buy it again. It's a bit far from the places I usually go to in Kyoto, so I was a bit hesitant to go, but it was just right. The caramel-flavored cream-like sauce inside... my child really liked it. It's true that I haven't eaten caramel-flavored damande anywhere else, so it's quite unique. Almond croissant 200 yen (tax included) Inside, there's a creamy almond cream and caramel-flavored sauce. It overflows from the bread. Delicious~. I love it too. My child ate the whole thing, but it seemed like their mouth became too sweet, so they said half was enough and ate a few pieces of seaweed to balance the sweetness. There were plenty on the shelf this time too, but the Katsuragawa limited plate that was there before was missing. Does that mean... it's being sold at other Shizuya locations? If that's the case, I would be happy. There are many Shizuya shops in Kyoto. It would be very helpful if it could be sold at all stores, so please consider it.

On this day as well, I headed to AEON Katsuragawa to get the bread for lunch tomorrow. I usually buy bread from Canteborre, but since it's not Tuesday, there was no 100 yen sale (laughs). Seeing that the prices were a bit high on this day, I decided to go for Shizuya's Carne instead! There is an in-shop of Shizuya at Katsuragawa AEON Mall. I went to get Carne, and they had a new Pepper Carne. I purchased it without hesitation and enjoyed it as the first thing for lunch at work. The spicy black pepper mayonnaise perfectly complements the mild boneless ham and onion slices. As they say, the aroma of pepper, ham, and onion combination was delicious. The other breads I had were also enjoyable for lunch. Thank you for the meal.

Shitsu-ya is located on the first floor of AEON Mall Kyoto Katsura-gawa, in the back of the food specialty store area. They also have an eat-in corner. It is an old and well-established bakery in Kyoto, where you can find delicious bread no matter what you choose. However, when I visited around lunchtime, there were few varieties of sweet bread available. There were many options of deli items (such as carne). I bought a few items, but only managed to take a photo of one. Or rather, I couldn't resist and ate them right away. They were delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Every morning, I went to the Shizuya bakery near Aeon Katsuragawa. They had a croissant almond, which my friend said is from a well-established bakery in Kyoto. I've been to the Shizuya bakery at Kyoto Station before, but they didn't have almond croissants there. The almond croissant cost 200 yen (tax included) and they had a special plate only available at the Katsuragawa store. I was so happy and bought 3 of them since I don't come here often. It's always exciting to try almond croissants for the first time. When I took a bite, I was surprised by the milky taste. It was so buttery and milky, with a hint of sweetness in the croissant. Inside, there was almond cream, more like almond sauce, which was very creamy and oozing out of the pastry. I also tasted a hint of caramel flavor. This almond croissant was a hit. The bakery has a café inside, and they serve morning sets until 12 pm. They have a good selection for lunch, and if you order a drink, you can eat your favorite pastry inside the café. I might come back again for this limited edition item. I wish they would also have almond croissants at Kyoto Station or other Shizuya bakeries. Even though it's far, I hope they consider it.

On a regular Tuesday at 11:00, I entered the shop. Customers were scattered between eating in and taking out. The baguette costs 300 yen including tax (they cut it to your preferred thickness). The bacon epi costs 220 yen including tax (a French bread shaped like a rice ear with crispy bacon that goes well together). The crescents cost 150 yen each including tax (shaped like a crescent moon with bacon, with a strong salty flavor). The total bill was 820 yen including tax. The bacon epi and crescents look cool, but they're not really my style. The baguette, however, is delicious.

Around 5:00 PM on January 18, 2015, I visited the restaurant for the first time to eat in. I ordered a pancake made by the bakery. It was more like a Danish pastry with soft serve ice cream on top, resembling a cafe-style dessert rather than a traditional pancake. It came with a solid piece of raw caramel, which made it difficult to eat. Overall, I was disappointed that what I received was different from what I had expected. Thank you for the meal. The pancake set cost 880 yen (including iced coffee) and the iced latte was 430 yen.
