I arrived at an old farmhouse soba restaurant in Kyoto Miyama Town, heading north from Prefectural Route 19. (≡≡c⌒っ゚Д゚)っ ズサーッ!! I arrived before the 11 o'clock opening, but they kindly welcomed me (*^ー゚)b The old farmhouse, renovated by the owner, has a lovely interior with a hearth and a wood stove that exudes the warmth of wood. I chose to sit in the tatami seating area on the veranda. It felt like visiting a grandmother's house in the countryside and was very relaxing. The menu features freshly made 100% soba noodles, caught game dishes like deer and boar by the owner, as well as home-grown vegetables and rice. I ordered various dishes that looked delicious!! Zaru soba. The soba noodles, made from 100% buckwheat, had a good texture without being too firm, with a nice chewiness and a proper soba fragrance. It was very delicious soba. Yummy! Vegetable tempura. Includes 9 types of vegetables such as green pepper, eggplant, potatoes, sweet potatoes, okra, maitake mushrooms, pumpkin, chickpeas, and golden dewdrop flowers, all freshly grown on their own. They were crispy and fresh, so all of them were delicious. The tempura dipping sauce was also included, but because they were crispy, salt was a better match. Yummy! Deer meat fry. Made from deer caught by the owner, it was tender without any gamey smell, and had a rich, wild taste unique to game meat. It was very delicious, and you could feel the power of the deer running through the mountains in your body!! Deer meat, yummy! Boar minced cutlet. With a hint of the wild scent of boar meat, this minced cutlet was also delicious with a strong sense of eating meat. Wild boar, yummy! Boar charge forward mountain vegetable rice ball. Mixed with various types of mountain vegetables, their homemade rice had a chewy texture and was packed with ingredients, making it very delicious. Rice ball, yummy! Everything was so delicious and I was very satisfied with the lunch. They also accepted various QR code payments. I would like to come back again (*^ー゚)b Thank you for the meal. Today, I went on a little drive for the first time in a while. My husband wanted to eat some delicious edamame, so we decided to buy some black edamame from Tanba, which we had tried before and loved. We also decided to visit my grandmother's house, which had been vacant for a while. Unfortunately, none of the local farmers' markets had the black edamame yet. So, we ended up having lunch at a soba restaurant near Kayabuki in Miyama. The restaurant was a bit hard to find, but customers from other prefectures were coming in one after another. The atmosphere was really nice, with a pleasant breeze coming in from the veranda. I had the 100% buckwheat soba with grated daikon, which was delicious with the slightly spicy radish. I've been to many soba restaurants, but this one was exceptionally tasty. The wild vegetable assortment, the soba tea served at the beginning, the wild vegetable onigiri, and the nukazuke were all delicious! They also serve game dishes like deer meat fry, croquettes, deer meat, and wild boar mince cutlets. I haven't been here in a while, but I definitely want to come back for their soba.

I had soba noodles at No.35 and it was delicious! It's been really hot lately, I feel like I have horns growing out of my head! I found a cozy soba restaurant with a garden full of bright orange lilies. The restaurant was renovated from an old traditional house, with a spacious interior and a wood stove. I tried the 100% buckwheat soba noodles with tempura and venison. The soba noodles were just right, not too soft or too hard, and the tempura was huge with a variety of vegetables. The venison fry was also tempting, but I decided to stick with soba this time. Overall, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. The restaurant is located along Route 162, hidden among the grass, and even has a friendly cat welcoming guests. It was a hot day, but the vibrant orange lilies and the tasty meal made it a memorable experience.

In the fall, I was looking forward to enjoying "koi no arai" and mushroom dishes, along with hand-made soba at the hearth side. However, the restaurant had changed a bit since my last visit. The atmosphere was still cozy and welcoming, with a wood stove providing warmth. I ordered the zaru soba and wild boar mince cutlet, which were both delicious. The soba had a nice texture and flavor, and the cutlet was rich and flavorful. The pumpkin stew and vegetable tempura were also tasty. Overall, it was a satisfying and enjoyable dining experience.

On the first four-day weekend of the GoTo Travel campaign, I decided to visit Miyama, a secluded town known for its thatched roof houses. About an hour and a half drive away on Route R162, you'll come across Moku-an, a renovated traditional house in Nantan City, Miyama Town. Here, you can enjoy hand-made 100% buckwheat soba noodles, mountain vegetable dishes, and game dishes such as wild boar and deer meat. The restaurant is about a 15-minute drive from Miyama Town's iconic spot, Thatched Roof Village. Depending on the season, you can savor the blessings of the land, from wild vegetables in spring to mountain flavors in autumn and game dishes in winter. The entrance curtain caught my attention as it was hanging upside down - was it intentional or just a mistake? Inside, the spacious restaurant exudes a traditional Japanese atmosphere with a large hearth, tatami seating, and table seating. The owner's collection of wild boar and deer fur adds to the rustic charm. The soba tea served was rich in aroma and comforting. Soba noodles are available in white or black (with or without husks) varieties, served with toppings like grated radish. Other options include rice ball sets, vegetable tempura sets, and game meat sets. The vegetable tempura set was made with homegrown organic vegetables and was served piping hot. The white soba noodles were delicious with a firm texture and smooth finish. The okra tempura with coarse salt was crispy and had a unique texture. Overall, the meal was a delightful experience in a serene mountain setting.

I stopped by on my way to Kayabuki no Sato. The atmosphere was nice, and the inside of the restaurant was very clean with proper COVID-19 measures in place. The staff were all friendly and provided excellent service. The soba noodles were delicious from the first bite! It was really tasty. I definitely want to visit this place again when I'm nearby. Next time, I will try the white soba noodles!笑

On the way back from Obama, I stopped for the first time in Miyama-cho, where I usually just pass through, and had lunch at this traditional house soba restaurant with a Bengala painted exterior. Upon entering the entrance, there is a wood stove where you take off your shoes. You can also eat at a table with a hearth or in a tatami room with a view of the garden. We ordered the set meals with mountain vegetable and vegetable tempura, and the set meals with deer croquette. For an additional 500 yen, the set becomes quite luxurious. We shared the tempura and deer croquette. All the vegetables are said to be from their own farm. The rape blossoms and rolled omelet side dishes are included. The slight bitterness of the rape blossoms is refreshing. The stew-like dish with deer meat, wild boar meat, potatoes, carrots, onions, etc., tasted delicious with a broth made from the deer meat and wild boar meat caught by the owner. The deer meat croquette is quite large and made with minced deer meat, potatoes, onions, and is very spicy. The 100% buckwheat soba made fresh every morning has a good aroma, and the dipping sauce was a spicy one to my liking. I'm not a fan of sweet sauce, so that was good. Despite being 100% buckwheat, it was not too dry, but also not as smooth as 80% buckwheat soba, but it was well-connected and delicious. 1-1 Nogahata, Shizuhara, Miyama-cho, Nantan City, Kyoto.

I stopped by this soba restaurant on my way back from Kayabuki no Sato in Miyama Town. I ordered the tororo soba. This soba restaurant uses 100% buckwheat noodles. The restaurant is in an old traditional Japanese house, which gives a very calming and relaxing atmosphere. It takes a while for the food to be served after ordering, but the leisurely pace allows for a relaxed dining experience. As for the soba noodles, I have tried 100% buckwheat noodles at another restaurant before, but they were a bit too firm. However, the soba noodles here were perfect - they had a great texture and were delicious.

On May 5th, I went to Miyama by motorcycle. Along the way, I saw an advertisement for this restaurant at a vegetable stand and decided to try it out. I ordered the zaru soba (90%) for 800 yen. The soba had a lot of black specks in appearance, but it had a simple and straightforward taste without any strong flavors. The soba broth was a bit heavy. Perhaps the lack of soba fragrance was due to the season. There was one person in front of me and two more groups came in after me. At Kayabuki no Sato, there was a long line at the soba shop. I thought it would be nice to visit there as well.
