I explored the area near Hankyu Kyoto Kawaramachi Station. I walked north on Kawaramachi Street from the station, and found this restaurant a little to the west. It seems to specialize in seafood bowls. I've been seeing more of these types of restaurants lately, but personally I haven't tried many, so I was curious. I arrived at 9pm, which is quite late. However, when I entered the restaurant, I was surprised to see that it was almost full. Even though it was the end of the year holiday, it was still impressive. There were mostly women as customers, but there were also a few men sitting at the counter facing the wall. Additionally, there were quite a few foreign customers, which left an impression on me. The atmosphere was like a fast food restaurant, in a good way. It was a relaxed environment. Now, onto the order. The menu seemed to have a variety of bowl options. However, I quickly decided on the "Uni, Ikura, Negitoro Bowl" (1,320 yen, plus 100 yen for extra large). Totaling 1,560 yen including tax. There was a sign near the entrance that said it was the "No. 1 popular dish", so I had already decided before entering. The dish arrived in less than 5 minutes after ordering. It was quite heavy when I picked up the bowl. The extra large portion seemed to have a generous amount of rice. I tried it immediately and... yes, the taste was satisfying. The "uni" and "ikura" were plentiful, and I could taste each flavor distinctly. The "negitoro" had a refined taste. Personally, I prefer it with a bit more texture, but this one was finely minced. The "shredded seaweed" between the ingredients and rice added a nice texture and flavor. It's not exactly cheap, but considering it's a seafood bowl with "uni" and "ikura", it's reasonably priced. It's a valuable restaurant for a casual seafood bowl experience. According to the wallpaper inside the restaurant, they also have a food challenge menu for those confident in their stomach capacity. If you're up for it, why not give it a try?
