When you get off at the Karasuma-Oike Station on the Randen line that connects Arashiyama and Shijo-Omiya, it's just a 1-minute walk. There are few coffee shops open on Sunday mornings at 8 am, so the options are limited. Remembering the amazing experience I had at the Teramachi branch of the same chain, I decided to try out the Smart Coffee Uzumasa branch this time. The egg sandwich had a thick layer of egg, similar to a rolled omelette, sandwiched between slices of bread. Unlike the rectangular cuts at the Teramachi branch, this one was cut into triangles. Perhaps it's because it's midsummer, but the plate wasn't warmed like at the Teramachi branch. The aroma of the oil used to cook the egg added to the experience, making it enjoyable to savor this hot egg sandwich. I felt like there was a bit too much pepper compared to the Teramachi branch, but the moist thin slices of bread had a great texture, and I found myself reaching for more until I finished it all! The coffee is freshly roasted and aromatic, but I found it a bit weak, so I'll try ordering an espresso next time!

Located just a short walk from Kyo-no-Tsutsumi Station, this shop is a place I often visit the Teramachi branch, but I haven't been to the Uzumasa branch much. I visited around 11 o'clock on a weekend. Pancakes and a drink for 990 yen, toast sandwich and a drink (ham and cheese mix) for 950 yen. It was served in about 5 minutes. The toast sandwich is simple, with freshly toasted bread sandwiched with ham and cheese, and it tastes good. The pancakes have a traditional taste, and the syrup is not too sweet, making it easy to eat. Tea is served in a pot, and the coffee has a fairly acidic taste. The pricing, including drinks, being under 1,000 yen is also nice. I would like to visit again if I have the opportunity.

A café located right in front of Kyōto-shi Ukyō-ku Katabiranotsuji Station, affiliated with the famous Smart Coffee. I mistakenly thought they served lunch because the main store in Teramachi does, but they don't. Feeling disappointed, I ordered a set of fluffy delicious pancakes and coffee to fill my stomach. The pancakes had a classic taste, and the coffee was strong and bitter, reminiscent of the main store. The Teramachi store always has long lines, but if you stick to the same menu, this place is just as good. Depending on how you use it, it can be a good choice.

I stopped by around 2 o'clock on Saturday afternoon on my way back to Kyoto city after visiting Arashiyama and the Uzumasa Shrine. This cafe is located on Sanjo Street, east of Arashiyama, just before the turn to the shopping street in Uzumasa. I had been curious about it for a while. While Sanjo Teramachi's Smart Coffee is famous, especially for its lunch which always has a line, this branch feels more local and cozy. The cake set with coffee and Mont Blanc was delicious and reasonably priced, which made me happy. Since I often pass by here, I definitely want to visit again in the future.

I casually dropped by around 2 pm on a Sunday. About 80% of the seats were filled with customers. The place had a retro atmosphere, which was nice. I ordered a set of hotcakes and a drink with an added scoop of ice cream, which cost 1170 yen. Since it was a hot day, I opted for iced tea. The hotcakes were beautifully cooked with a slightly thick texture, consisting of two layers. The fluffy and dense hotcakes, along with butter, maple syrup, and vanilla ice cream, were delicious! They had a satisfying texture. The iced tea was fruity and refreshing, with a good flavor and aftertaste. I was comforted by the delicious and nostalgic hotcakes and iced tea. This place is frequented by people from the filming industry. Thank you for the meal.

In front of Kyoto City Hall, there is a shop that always has a line. They offer a variety of Western dishes, but this place only has a simple menu. The hotcakes are popular, so I ordered them with ice cream. The hotcakes were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They were amazing. The combination of ice cream and butter added a delicious touch. The place was bustling with locals, and I had a relaxing time there.

I was in the Uzumasa area today. I stopped by a branch of "Smart Coffee" near the Kyo-no-Maegamiji Station on the Randen line. Smart Coffee's main store is located in Sanjo, Kyoto, and is a popular cafe selected as one of the "Top 100 Cafes" on Tabelog. This branch in Uzumasa seemed to have its own roasting machine, as green coffee beans were casually displayed near the entrance. The interior had a relaxed atmosphere with local customers. I ordered the "French toast and drink" set, which came with a choice of coffee or tea. The coffee had a nice aroma and the French toast was thick and crispy, soaked in egg and drizzled with honey. The subtle egg flavor, crunchy sugar coating, and generous honey topping made for a delicious combination with the coffee. Overall, it was a convenient cafe located near the station.

I had some errands nearby and felt relieved when they were done. This coffee shop is a sister store of a famous temple town shop. The old Daiei and Toei film studios used to be nearby, and I read somewhere that Misora Hibari, a famous singer, used to like the juice here. But I still want to have coffee. I also want to try the famous hotcakes here, but I already had sushi for lunch, so I'll have to save it for next time. As I drink my coffee and watch the cars passing by on the narrow street, I find myself lost in thoughts. What should I have for dinner tonight? Haha. The coffee here is old-fashioned but very delicious, especially with milk.

Katatira no tsuji station is located near the restaurant. It is a branch of a famous cafe in Kyoto. I haven't been to the main store for years, even though it used to be one of the options when shopping around Kawaramachi area. We visited here because of the excitement of talking about the actor Makoto Fujita with my husband. It is said that many actors used to visit this cafe (since Toei and Shochiku studios are nearby, maybe they still do). The atmosphere of the cafe was familiar to me since I was young. I had a set of hotcakes and iced coffee, while my husband had an iced cafe au lait. They even brought us plates and napkins without us asking. I was impressed by their level of service. The reason for their high ratings might be because of this hospitality. The seating area was spacious and we had a comfortable time. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

The famous Sanjo-Temple Coffee in Uzumasa branch is known for being close to a film studio, where celebrities sometimes visit. However, when I visited, there were no celebrities around (disappointing). It was very hot, so I revived myself with an iced coffee. Just a normal coffee shop in a very ordinary town. I will definitely stop by again when I come back to this area. Thank you for the meal!

After moving to a new place, my family told me about a wonderful café nearby, so I was looking forward to it. It's been two years since I last visited a café in Kyoto! I chose the egg sandwich, while my family all went for the egg toast. The egg sandwich I ordered was about 1.5 times the size of the egg toast they had. Maybe it's a matter of how it was cut? The eggs were fluffy and had a natural sweetness that I haven't tasted in the country I used to live in!! I struggle with my lack of vocabulary, but all I can say is that it was delicious. The mustard also added a nice touch. It was nice to have morning café with my family after a long time^^ Japan is overflowing with happiness, even in the smallest things, but there are still a lot of dark news... I wish Japan could become brighter^^

This is a place near Uzumasa Station where you can enjoy a leisurely morning. The morning set was around 700 yen. The omelette was creamy and the bread was thin. However, the potato salad that came with it was a pleasant surprise with its curry flavor! I was expecting a regular potato salad, so this was a delightful twist. The coffee also had a wonderful aroma, making it a truly happy morning. It's no wonder this place is so popular.

On a very cold day with light snow falling, the sound and aroma of roasting coffee beans in the shop created a calming atmosphere. The unique ambiance is irresistible, something you wouldn't expect in Tokyo. The coffee is as delicious as ever. ◎

I visited Smart Coffee at Nishiki-Koji for the first time. I haven't been to the main store so I can't compare, but the bread and honey were delicious and made me feel warm and cozy! Thank you for the meal, I will come again!
