I went to "Sumibi Tori Koki" to eat delicious yakitori. As usual, the place was fully booked even with reservations, showing its popularity. I ordered a variety of skewers including the rare part called "hasamifurisode" (shoulder), bonjiri, tsukune with egg yolk, seseri, liver, gizzard, tebasaki, man-ganji togarashi, and a side dish of chicken and wasabi. The yakitori was all thick and juicy, bursting with flavor when bitten into. The chicken itself was also of high quality and very delicious. The side dish of chicken and wasabi was especially outstanding, with the combination of spicy wasabi and rare chicken flavor. The prices were reasonable, so I will definitely come back again.

The atmosphere was nice. There was a stylish guy grilling chicken skewers in front of me with great concentration. My dad used to say that a place with delicious chicken skin is always good, and it's true. The tsukune was also juicy and delicious. The chicken sashimi was tasty too. It was my first time visiting this restaurant. I was nervous, but the atmosphere inside, the staff's service, and the taste of the food were all excellent. Actually, my eldest daughter is currently training at a famous yakitori restaurant. We are a family that is picky about yakitori, but Torikou was really delicious ❤️ The master and the landlady were both wonderful people, and I would love to visit this restaurant again. It's a highly recommended place. ♥️

I felt like eating yakitori, so I visited "Sumibi Torisachi" for the first time, located west of Sanjo Nishinotoin. The restaurant is housed in a renovated machiya and has a nice atmosphere. I ordered various skewers, tsukune (moon-viewing), seseri, hasami, liver, tebasaki, furisode (rare shoulder part), Manjyoji pepper dish, karaage, half-cooked quail egg, and chicken yukke. Everything was delicious. Especially the skewers were thick and juicy, bursting with the delicious flavor and fat of the chicken when bitten into. The portions were satisfying. Seseri and hasami were particularly delicious. The sweetness of the liver was also irresistible.

I apologized for not making a reservation and they said it was fine. I ordered a rough-squeezed orange juice and a cabbage platter. The harami with ponzu sauce was good, and the chicken tenderloin with plum and shiso was really good. I recommend the seven-item set, especially the eggplant which was very tasty. The heart was juicy and delicious, the liver was extremely tasty, and the tsukune was really good too. This place is a hit, I ate so much that my bill exceeded 5000 yen, haha.

A yakitori restaurant located a 6-minute walk from Karasuma Oike Station. Visited with friends after making a reservation. Even though it was around 6 o'clock, the place was almost full, indicating its popularity. Started with drinks as one person was running late. Ordered a highball and cabbage, followed by chicken giblet stew and grilled thick tofu. When the latecomer arrived, we ordered the chef's selection of 5 items, including chicken breast, gizzard, neck meat, and heart (liver). Each item was delicious, especially the perfectly cooked items without any burnt parts, like the liver which was melt-in-your-mouth tender. We were surprised by the quality of yakitori in Kyoto, but this place had it all - a fantastic restaurant.

The new restaurant has a beautiful interior and a lively atmosphere. The yakitori being grilled right in front of you all look delicious, so I keep ordering more. The chicken liver is perfectly cooked with a creamy texture, and the sauce complements it well. The tsukune with egg yolk and grated daikon is a delightful combination, adding a refreshing touch. The chicken thigh is juicy and tender, and the vegetable skewers are cooked perfectly. Everything I tried at this yakitori restaurant was delicious. I truly want to come back again.

First visit. According to internet information, it seems that this place is independent from Chabuya. No wonder the menu is Chabuya-like. The only difference is that they have draft beer. A new popular yakitori restaurant opened in Kyoto on July 15, 2021. I stumbled upon it while walking around the city and found it on food review websites like Tabelog and Instagram. It's called Torisaki, which is ranked number one for yakitori in Kyoto on Tabelog, and they even offer orchids as decorations. I made a reservation for their second day of opening and went to check it out.
They use iron skewers and cook the yakitori over high heat, which results in incredibly delicious skewers that you can eat as many as you want. They also serve creatively prepared grilled vegetables that are so tasty that I couldn't help but order some, even though I don't usually go for grilled veggies. The owner, Atsuta Okumura, who used to work at a popular yakitori restaurant in Kyoto, has managed to bring his own unique touch to the dishes at his new place.
The atmosphere created by the friendly owner and his kind wife is wonderful, and despite Okumura's modesty in calling it an "introductory course to yakitori," the restaurant offers an authentic yakitori experience without any pretentiousness. I visited for a second time recently and noticed that they have improved even further, showing that they are constantly striving to evolve. I look forward to witnessing their continued growth and evolution in the future.
