The restaurant seemed like an izakaya at first, but they have a wide selection of set meals centered around bonito tataki. It's great that you can have set meals even at night. The straw-grilled bonito tataki set meal allows you to choose the portion size, and a set with five slices costs around 1200 yen. Each slice is large enough to serve as a sufficient side dish. The tataki is flavored with sauce and served with sliced garlic as a condiment, which adds a pleasant kick. The rice is cooked in a kettle and the portion left in the bowl without being served was slightly crispy, like scorched rice. Enjoy it as you like. I liked it, so I would like to visit again.

I visited Aeon Mall Kyoto Katsuragawa for the first time because there was a bargain at L.L.Bean. I decided to have a meal at this restaurant that I had found through a search beforehand. I'm not a big fan of bonito tataki, but it had been a while since I had it in Ibusuki, and I enjoyed it with a sauce that suited my taste. I would like to visit again. Date of visit: July 16, 2023. When I searched for Ryujinmaru in Kochi and couldn't find it in the Kinki region. Instead, I found a similar place called Ryujin at AEON Mall Katsuragawa. It's my first time here, and it's a very spacious mall with a lot of specialty shops. There are plenty of dining options and even a cinema. Although Daiei is gone, AEON seems to be meeting consumer needs. Now, about Ryujinmaru. I've never tried the Silver Hirasu pickled in malt, but it sounds delicious. The bonito tataki and salt tataki have a smoky flavor, but they still can't beat the ones in Kochi. Ryujinmaru wins! This place used to be managed by food and beverage chain stores like Suehiro. Thank you for the meal.

I ordered a set of 5 slices of salted bonito tataki for about 1200-1300 yen. I thought it was a bit expensive considering the taste. The bonito was delicious, but it wasn't worth paying that much for it.

This is a restaurant on the second floor of Keikawa AEON. The atmosphere inside is like an izakaya. It was a weekday, but there was a line, so I waited in line. I ordered the Tataki and Chicken Nanban set meal for ¥1380 (excluding tax). The rice was delicious, cooked in a pot. There was about two bowls worth in the tea cup. The Tataki was thick and satisfying, but a bit tough, so it was a good workout for my jaw. The Chicken Nanban had tartar sauce on the tempura chicken. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

This is a store located in Ion Mall Katsuragawa. I went there on a Saturday afternoon, so I didn't have to wait long to get in because it was early. The interior of the store has a calm atmosphere, making it easy to stay longer. I ordered the bonito and avocado poke bowl, and it was really delicious. The menu was also extensive, so I would like to go again and try other dishes.

This is a shop located in AEON Mall Kyoto Katsuragawa. I used it for lunch on a weekday. I was drawn to it by the sight of bonito being seared from the storefront. The bonito tataki, which is a signature dish, was delicious. It was freshly seared, fragrant, and had no fishy taste. The rice cooked in a feather pot was also good. The straw-grilled bonito tataki and oyster fry set meal cost 1,518 yen, and the straw-grilled bonito tataki and grilled chicken thigh set meal cost 1,408 yen, including tax.

"Wara-yaki katsuo tataki" is delicious on its own, but it becomes even more delicious when it's straw-grilled. The sauce is also very good. "Wara-yaki katsuo no shio tataki teishoku" is also delicious with just salt. The umami of the katsuo is well-balanced and not overwhelming. The side dishes are also very tasty, and I was very satisfied.

I went shopping at Ion. Before that, I had a meal to satisfy my hunger. The restaurant had a decent amount of customers, and they recommended their specialty dish, straw-grilled bonito with sauce (880 yen) along with a Yamasaki Farm yuzu tamago (150 yen). I ordered the 5-piece bonito dish which came with freshly cooked rice, miso soup with seaweed, and pickles. I also ordered a delicious-sounding egg to make tamagokake gohan (egg over rice). The taste was excellent, with the fresh bonito providing a satisfying bite. The beer served in a small glass (220 yen) was perfect for a quick drink. Although the staff seemed a bit lackluster and the floor was sticky, the food was delicious. After shopping for clothes and beer, I headed home.

When it's hot and you want something refreshing to eat, dishes like soba noodles or fish are perfect. This time, I had bonito sashimi. The thick slices of bonito with a hint of straw grilling aroma were delightful. It was so satisfying to eat. The freshly cooked rice was also delicious. I even had my wife's leftovers, so I ended up having three bowls of rice in total. My wife shared a piece of horse mackerel fry with me, so I exchanged it for the bonito sashimi. It was a crispy and delicious dish. I enjoyed the bonito sashimi and the seafood, making it a delightful and delicious lunch.

There is a restaurant located in Aeon Mall Katsuragawa in front of Katsuragawa Station on the JR Tokaido Line. I had previously mentioned in this column that "Myojinmaru," known for its straw-grilled bonito, is not in Osaka, but I was informed that "Ryujinmaru" is. I looked at the menu and expected something similar, so I ordered it. What came out was a dish with freshly cooked rice, unlike Myojinmaru, which uses rice from a rice cooker. However, the crucial Tataki was cold and seemed like it had been cut from the refrigerator, despite the staff performing the straw-grilling performance in front of the store. I think the goodness of straw-grilling lies in the aroma of straw and the warmth of the Tataki. It was a bit disappointing that both were missing.

I went for lunch. The restaurant was spacious with a wide variety of menu options. I was thinking of ordering a set meal, but when I saw that the rice was cooked in a kiln, I thought it might take some time. So, I decided to order a small drinking set with beer while waiting for the set meal. The set meal consisted of chicken tempura, bonito sashimi, and the small drinking set arrived first. It included draft beer, bonito salt Tataki, sweet potato tempura, and edamame. The Tataki was delicious with a strong flavor. The sweet potato tempura came in two varieties, and I think the edamame was probably frozen. I think ordering this set twice would be just right. When the set meal arrived, I started with the sashimi, which had a nice sesame flavor. The Tataki from the drinking set was actually tastier. The chicken tempura was average, and the kiln-cooked rice was delicious with each grain distinct and tasty. Next time, I would like to order two more drinking sets and finish with kiln-cooked rice.

A family dinner with four people at Aeon Mall Katsuragawa last summer. We were drawn to the photo of the Katsuowarayaki on the menu and decided to try it. We started with the recommended dish, Katsuowarayaki salted tataki. The thick slices were impressive, with a crispy charred exterior. Each of us ordered a set meal. I chose the Oyster Kamameshi and Buri (Yellowtail) Tatsutaage set. The dishes were served one by one, so let's dig in. The Kamameshi needs to be mixed with a paddle and steamed for 2 minutes before eating. Enjoying a cold beer while bonding with family. The Buri was boneless and easy to eat. The Oyster Kamameshi was truly delicious. Lastly, pour some broth over it for a tea-infused finish. This restaurant is also great for casual drinking. The local sake from Kochi was also delightful.

I visited the restaurant at 1 pm on Saturday and had to wait for about 15 minutes before being seated. I ordered the Katsuo and Avocado Poke Bowl set (tax included 1078 yen). It came with a seaweed miso soup and pickles. The katsuo (bonito) was not marinated but still tasted great without any fishy smell. Even though it had sauce on it, I felt like it was a bit bland and needed some soy sauce to enhance the flavor.

I chose this restaurant because there was no line. On January 2nd, there were only two pairs of two waiting, so we decided to go here right away! It turned out to be a good choice even though we didn't think much about it. The straw-grilled fish was demonstrated and cooked perfectly. One thing to recommend at this restaurant is the rice! They cook individual portions in small pots, so you get piping hot freshly cooked rice. Scooping it out with a spoon and eating it is so exciting that even my family, who usually leaves rice behind, finished every last bite. The grilled bonito and rice make this place worth a visit! Lunch is also recommended.

I recently started liking this restaurant. I went there alone the other day. They serve bonito sashimi with both salt and sauce. I prefer the sauce. The bonito here is delicious, but the rice is the real star! They cook each rice in a pot and bring it to you as is. I'm quite particular about rice, we even cook it in a "kamado" at home, but I think the rice here is really delicious. It's hard to believe it's from a mall. I keep praising the staple food, but if you're nearby, I recommend you try it. The only downside is that the staff here seem to lack proper training. They don't smile and look like they find it bothersome. Maybe they should work on being more cheerful in their customer service. Besides that, the portions are generous and you'll leave feeling satisfied.

After watching a movie, we decided to grab something to eat. I wanted to try bonito tataki. We ordered a set with small dishes like dried fish, edamame, bonito tataki with salt, and beer. It was called "warayaki" on the menu. I was a bit hesitant because I'm not a fan of the smoky smell, but I actually found it quite tolerable once I tried it. The bonito had a soft and sticky texture. The salt tataki was new to me, just sprinkled with salt I guess? The dried fish was decently tasty. The edamame had tiny beans. The lingering smell of the warayaki was strong in my mouth afterwards. We were thinking of ordering more if it was good, but the lackadaisical attitude of the staff, constantly saying "excuse me," put us off. We ended up leaving after just having the beer and small dishes set. It felt like a good deal, but it was a bit disappointing. Overall, the experience was not great due to the service and lack of attention to detail.

I felt like eating bonito tataki, so I went to Ryujinmaru in Keio Mall. I arrived around 1 pm when lunchtime had calmed down a bit, but about 80% of the tables were already taken. Although there was a space for grilling with straw, there were no signs of grilling. As expected, I ordered the bonito tataki set, but there was no scent of straw-grilled. And to make matters worse, I ordered the salt version but was served the sauce version, which was a shock. If you are looking for the taste you had in Kochi, it's a bit disappointing... But if you are just looking for a fish set meal, it might be okay. (T-T)

In Ion Mall Katsuragawa, there is a Tosa cuisine restaurant operated by a company that mainly expands its business in Okayama's in-shop restaurants. The most popular place in Ion Mall Katsuragawa seems to be Nigiri no Tokubei. Also, Gyutan no Morishoten is always crowded on weekends for lunch. On the other hand, this place can be used more like an izakaya, so it was relatively easy to get in (even with children). I once had a shocking experience at the shabu-shabu restaurant just across the street, so I entered this place without much expectation, but it was surprisingly good (lol). The Choisami set (880 yen) includes salt Tataki and the fish surimi was delicious. If this is Tosa cuisine, then Kochi must have a lot of delicious food. The contents of the set meal are normal, but the rice was very delicious, and the grilled saury was cooked and sized well. This is my second time here, but it's quietly good. When I think of Tosa cuisine, I remember Hachikin in Sannomiya, Kobe. I tried eating sea cucumber there. It may seem difficult to find good food in a shopping mall, but if Nigiri no Tokubei is crowded and you can't get in, I think this place is good. Just for your reference. :)

The Tataki of bonito itself did not have much freshness, possibly due to being prepared in advance or storage issues. However, the rice, freshly cooked in a pot each time it was ordered, was delicious with perfect texture.
