This week, I visited the Miyuki-cho Street area again. I had seen the exterior of a restaurant that caught my eye, checked the lunch prices outside, and decided to come here next time. The lunch set is 980 yen (tax included) with a choice of meat and fish. Today, the meat option was grilled chicken with leeks and miso, while the fish option was grilled mackerel. I chose the meat option. There is also a set menu for 1,280 yen, where you get both meat and fish dishes. When you open the door, a bell rings, and a woman pops her head out to greet you. After informing her that I was dining alone and taking off my shoes, she led me to a table with three kotatsu (heated tables). The warmth was comforting, and the atmosphere inside the restaurant felt like a grandmother's house in the countryside. The ambiance was similar to a restaurant I visited in Nakatsu, but this place felt brighter. I ordered from the lady, who served me a dark brown tea that resembled whiskey. As more customers arrived, the kotatsu tables filled up, and those who came later were directed to the second floor. I couldn't see what the second floor looked like, but the kotatsu was quite comfortable. There were two female staff members in short aprons, bustling around efficiently, serving customers and clearing plates. The food arrived six minutes later. The main dish was three pieces of pink-colored chicken, resembling salmon fry, accompanied by a yellowish paste that seemed to be miso sauce. There were also tempura, simmered daikon radish, potato salad, grapefruit, pickles, rice, and miso soup. The portion size looked generous. The chicken had a sweet miso flavor that was delightful. The tempura, made with pumpkin and shiitake mushrooms, was tasty but would have been better if served hot. The daikon radish was cold but flavorful, with a subtle taste that seeped through. I requested extra rice, and they brought me a mountain of it. The rice was fluffy and moist, complementing the side dishes perfectly. The dessert, pink grapefruit, seemed out of place in this setting but was delicious nonetheless. After finishing the meal, I looked around the room again. The restaurant seemed to have undergone significant renovations, with a large kitchen and a counter made of wooden boards, fitting for a dining establishment. I wondered what the place looked like before the renovation – whether it was a residential house or a shop. I noticed cables running along the pillars and beams, hoping that there wouldn't be any electrical issues causing a fire.
