On the third day of my trip to Kyoto, we started our journey in the morning and headed to Yūhigaura by car. It took about 2 and a half hours from Kyoto city. We arrived about an hour before check-in, but they kindly let us into our room. We relaxed in the hot springs and prepared for the evening crab feast. The Japan Sea was rough due to the rain. Dinner started at 5:30 pm, with free drinks including beer and sake. The room also had complimentary drinks, but only a couple of bottles of alcohol, so I recommend bringing your own if you plan on drinking in the room. The dinner had a variety of dishes with impressive textures and flavors. The live snow crab was brought out before being steamed. It looked impressive and raised our expectations. The seasonal crab meat soup was incredibly gentle. The crab sashimi, tuna, and snow crab sashimi were sweet and rich in flavor. The snow crab legs and horsehair crab were rich and intense. The steamed snow crab was sweet, fragrant, and had a great texture. The grilled snow crab legs and horsehair crab were flavorful when dipped in soy sauce. The steamed crab was the highlight, with its sweetness, fragrance, and texture. The crab hot pot was also delicious. The tempura was a bit heavy on the batter, but overall, the meal was amazing. After a long crab feast, we finished with chawanmushi, porridge, and dessert. We spent about 3 and a half hours enjoying the meal. We may have eaten too much, but it was worth driving all the way here. I may not come back many times, but I would love to enjoy such wonderful crab dishes again next year. Thank you for the feast. (The price includes accommodation and breakfast the next day)

The freshly cooked rice from the pot was delicious (*´꒳`*). There were plenty of side dishes in small bowls, making it visually appealing (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵). There was fatty dried fish, warm tsukune hot pot, crab soup, freshly made rolled omelette, beef simmered in soy sauce, as well as natto and raw egg, making it hard to resist getting seconds of rice. On the way back, they gave me rice ball made with pot-cooked rice and tea, along with a thank-you message, leaving me feeling warm and fuzzy. The casual and welcoming hospitality made for a relaxing trip. Thank you very much ╰(*´︶`*)╯

We went to Kyotango to eat crab and stayed at a charming inn where we could relax while watching the sea and the sunset. The drinks during dinner were free-flowing, with no additional charge, so we paid for everything including accommodation upon check-in. We were also allowed to take drinks from the room fridge and were offered complimentary ice candy after bathing, which felt like a great deal. The meals were generous in portion, and when we couldn't finish everything, they kindly agreed to let us take some food back (boiled crab and crab shabu-shabu). It was our first time at Yuhigaura Onsen, and we found the nearby beautiful coastline to be a lovely place.
