Around 7:00 PM, I visited "BABBI GELATERIA KYOTO," a specialty store for Italian gelato and wafers, with one other person. This shop offers authentic gelato along the Kamo River, where you can enjoy it on a cool summer floor. The best time to visit is during dusk. The lanterns create a charming atmosphere along the river. There is a charge of 550 yen to use the cool summer floor, but it is definitely worth it. I highly recommend it. The gelato was delicious as expected. Single scoop costs 660 yen, double scoop costs 880 yen, and triple scoop costs 1,100 yen. For single and double scoops, you can choose between a cone or a cup. Triple scoop is only available in a cup. You can choose between cocoa cone or plain cone. Unfortunately, the plain cone was sold out on the day of my visit. Flavors include pistachio, rich milk, chocolate, hazelnut from Piedmont IGP, ricotta fig, yogurt passion fruit, amarena, tiramisu, biscuit & custard, amaou strawberry, lemon, Alphonso mango (Japanese flavor), Uji matcha jyobetsugi, black sesame, Okinawa black sugar syrup kinako (seasonal item), chocolate mint, new summer orange, and wafferini hazelnut. In addition to hazelnut gelato, there are other items on the menu such as shaved ice, parfaits, and frozen drinks. I tried the Ricotta Fig which had a refreshing ricotta flavor that paired well with the fig, and the Amaou Strawberry which had a clear strawberry taste. I highly recommend the cool summer floor. It is truly a great experience, especially during dusk. The photos turn out beautifully as well. Thank you for the meal. #Gourmet #KyotoGourmet #Sweets #KyotoSweets #Gelato #KyotoGelato #BABBI #IceCream #Dessert #CoolSummerFloor #KamoRiver #Sorbet #Foodies #KyotoSightseeing

We came to eat gelato at the only shop in the medieval world where you can eat on the floor of the Kamogawa River, alternating between groups of girls and couples. It was evening and the place was full of customers, creating a nice atmosphere. *Additional seating fee of 500 yen will be charged for dining inside the restaurant. *No WiFi.

Shaved ice like sliced strawberries not only looks good but tastes amazing! I really enjoyed the riverside atmosphere and definitely want to visit again. The shaved ice with pistachio sauce, vanilla gelato, strawberries, and ice was delicious! The ice was high quality and didn't hurt my teeth at all, and it paired well with the strawberries and vanilla gelato. The pistachio added a perfect touch. Overall, it was really delicious. Visited on a weekday at the beginning of September, the riverside setting was pleasant with nice weather. I plan to visit again in the summer. Thank you for the meal.

I had a snack during my break. Eating in was an extra charge. Due to heavy rain just before, the floor was wet and couldn't be used, which made it feel a bit overpriced. I learned for the first time that BABBI is a wafer specialty store. The gelato was simply delicious. I especially liked the amaretto flavor. My husband, who had the chocolate, said it reminded him of gelato he had in Italy. It was much tastier than the popular chocolate specialty store's luxurious gelato. I would definitely stop by when I visit Kyoto again. Thank you for the meal.

When you go to the area around Shijo in Kyoto, you always want to stop by BABBI. Today, once again, let's enjoy delicious sweets while overlooking the Kamogawa River. Please note that there is a seating fee of 550 yen for terrace seating (as of mid-June). Well, everyone probably wants to use the terrace seats, so the competition is fierce. Terrace seating may have a seating fee until the end of September. They also have a lovely parfait available. I tried the Gelato Shake with strawberry and pistachio. It was topped with pistachio sauce, and BABBI's pistachio sauce is really delicious! As expected, it was delicious this day too!

BABBI in Kyoto is so delicious that I always end up going there whenever I visit Kyoto! I usually choose either strawberry or lemon because they are both so tasty. But honestly, every flavor is delicious! During department store events, they have pistachio soft serve ice cream, which is also incredibly delicious. BABBI is truly too delicious to resist!

Eating shaved ice at Kamogawa Noryo Kotatsu. It was a bit humid, but both my body and stomach felt refreshed. The strawberry syrup had lots of fruit pulp, giving it a nice sour taste. There was also a sweet pistachio sauce that made it enjoyable until the very end. Kyoto is really great after starting my Kansai trip from Osaka. This is my first time using Foodlog. Thank you to everyone who liked my reviews. I will be heading back to Chiba Prefecture tomorrow, but I will continue to post even after returning to Kanto. Thank you for your support.

Single gelato for 660 yen (tax included) plus a seating fee of 550 yen (tax included). This gelateria is perfect for a mood change. It can be difficult to find a place with high-quality gelato that also has comfortable seating. But with BABBI, you can enjoy the atmosphere for just a little over 1,000 yen even if you're alone on a clear night. It's truly a blessing. The gelato itself is smooth and silky, worth the price. The staff are also lovely and their smiles are very comforting!

It is located a little off the main street. There is a seating fee for eating in, but the atmosphere along the river is nice, so it's worth paying if you want to relax. I had pistachio gelato. The pistachio flavor was rich and very delicious!

At the foot of Dango Kuribashi in Kiyamachi Kawara, there is a gelato shop. Despite it being May, the midday felt like midsummer, so I went in seeking some relief from the heat. Various delicious-looking gelatos were displayed in the showcase. After much deliberation, I decided on a double cup of passion fruit yogurt and rich milk flavors. I also tried the Earl Grey tea ice cream. While it's popular to sit on the floor facing the Kamogawa River, I opted for a leisurely time indoors to avoid the ice cream from melting. The view of the Kamogawa River from inside the shop was still excellent, so I was glad I chose to sit indoors. I thought the eat-in fee of ¥500 per person was a bit expensive, but it might be worth it to avoid the crowds.

Eat-in has a seating fee of 500 yen. Most of the seats are on the floor, so you can enjoy the unique Kyoto experience for 500 yen! Opinions are divided depending on whether you think it's worth it or not. Around 2 pm on a holiday, the restaurant was about half full. I've always noticed that there are many people who seem to be just eating and moving on, and now I understand why. There is a seating fee of 500 yen. The gelato itself is also on the expensive side, so it might be tough for students. However, after paying the bill, they offered a snack box to those who paid the seating fee. You can choose one from the classic wafers or terrines. I thought it might be better to lower the seating fee instead of offering snacks afterward, but maybe that's just my opinion... [Food Ordered] Double ¥700 (Seating fee ¥500) #Excluding tax, total payment was ¥1320 The lemon flavor was quite sour, and the pistachio was rich, so I chose this mix. I ate it while struggling with the sourness. It was delicious, but it wasn't to my liking. I chose the cone because it's a well-known wafer maker, but it was a bit dry. (Sorry) This area is just so crowded. It was nice to be able to relax in the empty restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

I visited during lunchtime. The weather was so nice that I initially planned to get takeout, but the glass table seats looked inviting so I decided to dine in. I chose lemon and pistachio ice cream, and a regular cone. The lemon ice cream was refreshing and tangy, with diced candied lemon peel that added a nice touch. The pistachio was delicious and a must-try.

Enjoying gelato on a riverbed. BABBI♡ Kyoto ❤️ Gion Shijo ♡ my pick! Pistachio♡ One of the best places in Kyoto right now is here, BABBI GELATERIA KYOTO. The reason? It's the only place in Japan where you can enjoy the top-notch Italian gelato from "BABBI"! And the location is along the Kamo River where the traditional summer event "cooling floor" takes place. The popular flavors here are the high-quality chocolate and wafer sweets from "BABBI". While there are 7 stores nationwide, only the Kyoto store sells gelato. Located in the area along the Kamo River and Takase River, near the Shijo Kawaramachi area. Here, you'll find famous shops for the Kamo River cooling floor like "Torimiyasan" and "Honke Tan Kumamoto Store". The gelato here always offers about 18 flavors. The gelato ingredients are directly imported from "BABBI" in Italy, and they are made in-store following the recipe from the Italian chef and kept at a perfect temperature of minus 13-15 degrees for immediate consumption. The seasonal limited flavors like "Maple Pumpkin" in autumn and "Yuzu Honey" from winter to spring are added. The most popular flavors are Pistachio and the recommended Fig by the staff. You can get a 2-flavor mix for 660 yen, which most people choose over the 1-flavor option for 550 yen. The Fig gelato, with a gentle sweetness and rich flavor, is made by slowly simmering and thickening the sauce, then paired with Ricotta cheese gelato. The Pistachio is a blend of pistachios from various regions around the world, always maintaining the consistent taste of "BABBI". The world of rich and dense Italian gelato awaits you. The flavors truly stand out, offering a satisfying experience of "taste comparison" that is unmatched. It may be a waste to only try one flavor! Kyoto was chosen by "BABBI" to open a gelateria because of its rich history and the fact that it attracts people from all over the world, not just Japan. Additionally, this area of Shimo-Kiyamachi is closely tied to the local tradition of the Kamo River cooling floor. The spacious interior with a view of the Kamo River allows you to relax and enjoy your gelato. When I visited in spring, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. From May, the cooling floor will be set up. The first-ever "Gelato Floor" will have around 20 seats and will be available from May 1st to September 30th.

After enjoying lunch to my heart's content, I visited Kennin-ji Temple, which I had been putting off due to time constraints. I paid the entrance fee, requested a temple seal, and enjoyed the view while waiting. I immersed myself in the charming historical atmosphere. Despite usually being in a rush, I felt strangely refreshed and my mind felt cleansed. It was a very refreshing and light-hearted experience. As the tea time approached, I reluctantly left the place, making the most of the limited time I had. It's amazing how having a dessert can make you feel less full, especially when faced with a variety of cool sweets. When I inquired about eating in, the place was unfortunately full. I was in the mood for a parfait, but considering the waiting time, opting for a handheld cone ice cream seemed like a reasonable choice. After much contemplation, I chose the "Sakura & White Chocolate" flavors, which both had a delightful surprise of chocolate inside. The logo waffle and cocoa cone base were perfect accompaniments to the gelato. Dining alone, I enjoyed my ice cream at my own pace while gazing at the Takase River. It made me realize how peaceful tea time can be without children around, where sharing is not a given. It was a moment of peaceful tranquility that made me appreciate the simple things in life.

I visited on a regular Thursday around 6 pm. I had an early dinner nearby and decided to have ice cream for dessert. It was a bit chilly, so I also had a warm pistachio drink. They also sell bottled pistachio that you can use to make the drink at home.

On Saturday, I went to the Kyocera Museum of Art and realized I had lost my annual pass somewhere. I went back on Sunday after the Wine Festival ended to get a new one. On my way back, I walked along the Shirakawa River to Shimo-Kyoto. I arrived around 4 o'clock and there was no waiting line, as it had cooled down. I had the seasonal Mont Blanc and black sugar kinako on a plain cone. I ate it in a nearby park while looking at the Kamogawa River. The slightly strong sweetness was perfect for the season. I would love to enjoy it inside the shop when it gets a bit colder.

I had passed by this place a few times and was curious about it. I was interested in the pistachio Mont Blanc, but since it was before dinner, I decided to just have gelato. There were so many flavors of gelato to choose from, it was hard to decide. I think the most popular one is pistachio, so I got that, and I also wanted something refreshing, so I chose lemon. The pistachio flavor was stronger with mascarpone than I expected, but it paired really well. The lemon was very refreshing and I could eat it anytime.

I love BABBI's soft serve ice cream so much that once I try it, I can't forget the taste. It's like the number one for me, so I really wanted to go to the shop. Finally, I was able to go. I ordered Yogurt Passion Fruit and Mont Blanc (since it was autumn). I thought the Yogurt flavor would be light, but it turned out to be a rich cheese-flavored ice cream. I couldn't taste the passion fruit flavor that I love, as the rich ice cream was on top of it, overpowering the Mont Blanc flavor underneath. My daughter ordered Chocolate Mint and Tiramisu, but the Chocolate Mint on top overshadowed the Tiramisu flavor as well. It seems that the hardness of the ice cream also plays a role, but having a strong-flavored item on top can be a bit tough! I learned that BABBI's soft serve ice cream and gelato are completely different. The staff was also very impersonal.

This year, I went to BABBI again. I'm addicted to chocolate, so I tried the chocolate mint x chocolate combination. Last year, it was towards the end of summer so I was able to eat it a bit more calmly, but this year it melted all at once haha. By the way, there was a 500 yen charge for sitting by the river. I don't remember paying that last year though...

There is a gelato shop along the Kamo River in Kyoto. They have a riverside seating area where you can enjoy your gelato. It's definitely a must-visit! However, there is a seating charge of 550 yen per person, so it's 1100 yen for two people! We hesitated for a moment, but Kyoto is known for its luxury. The indoor seating was full, but surprisingly, we had the riverside seating all to ourselves. We enjoyed our gelato while chatting about how nice the breeze was and watching people taking a stroll. It was a luxurious time. I wonder if the riverside seating is only available in the summer? I'm not sure, but it's a great way to experience it easily. Highly recommended. Thank you for the delicious meal. ********************** ◆ Single Cup (Yogurt Passion Fruit) 550 yen ◆ Asahi Super Dry 770 yen ◆ Seating charge 550 yen x 2

Located about a 5-minute walk from Gion-Shijo Station, this gelato shop received a rating of 3.22 during my visit. It is a popular spot in the heart of Kyoto's tourism. I tried the double scoop (648 yen including tax) of Pistachio and Rich Milk flavors. The shop has a nice Kyoto-like atmosphere with a calm interior. They offer around 18 rich gelato flavors. Both flavors had a rich taste. The Pistachio flavor tasted like eating actual pistachios, perfect for pistachio lovers! The sweet milk gelato was also refreshing and highly recommended. There were many other delicious-looking gelato flavors to choose from, making it a tough decision. Overall, it was a great experience. Definitely worth a visit!
