I climbed up the promenade of Rurikei from the bottom to the other side of Lake Tsuuten. They not only have bread, but also lunch menus. There were several types of gratin and hamburgers. The gratin had cheese that stretched well on top of a tomato sauce. Penne pasta and eggplant were mixed in the tomato sauce. It came with two types of bread and was very filling. Thank you for the meal. You can also buy bread normally. It seems nice to take out and eat while looking at the river in Rurikei.

After walking along the Ruri Valley and playing in the river, we stopped by a cafe called Bakery Cafe Gardens. I had an iced lemon tea and a small-sized shortcake for 450 yen. These days, cakes tend to be large and cost over 700 yen, so I was happy with the smaller size and one-coin price. It was nice to be able to try two different kinds of cakes. The shortcake here wasn't too sweet, with plenty of fruits on top, making it delicious. The bread also looked tasty. Thank you for the meal.

Located near the border between Kyoto and Osaka, the Rurikei area is bustling with hot spring facilities and glamping options. A cafe in the area was quite busy, with people purchasing items like tuna mayo bread and other deli-style bread. I bought some to eat warm, and it was delicious! It may be even better enjoyed during glamping at dawn or dusk. I look forward to trying it next time I stay overnight in the area.

A cafe located within the Rurikei Valley Potato Park. The interior is warm and inviting with natural wood decor. You can enjoy tea time while surrounded by the expansive natural beauty, including outdoor seating on the terrace. The cafe offers a high-level menu with handmade bread and sweets created by top chefs who graduated from culinary school. We tried several cakes from the Red Lapis Lazuli Tea Tapioca Cocoa Chocolate Fair and some macarons. The Red Kyoto Wasoku Benifuki Japanese Red Tea, Tea Flower Lemongrass Pepper Mint has a soft and sweet taste that pairs well with the desserts. The Lapis Lazuli Hibiscus Lemongrass Sencha Black Tea Pepper Mint is a blend of herbs with a hint of sweetness and acidity. The chocolate fair menu includes Opera Tapioca Cocoa Chocolate Cheesecake and Chocolate Choux, both rich and delicious. The cafe also offers pasta lunches and a variety of breads, making it a cozy and versatile place to dine.

- Vanilla Ice Cream: I changed it to normal vanilla ice cream. Yes, just as I imagined.
- Cream Puff: The pastry had a crispy texture with nuts on top, and the custard had a strong traditional egg flavor. The cream was not smooth but rather chunky... how should I put it, not smooth but slightly coarse cream. It was delicious!

I visited the store around 1 pm on a weekday for the first time. Inside, there were individually wrapped bread on the left and cakes in the showcase. The right side of the store was a cafe space. I bought 4 slices of yomogi bread for 396 yen (excluding tax), yomogi anpan for 220 yen, baked curry bread for 198 yen, and walnut cheese bread for 198 yen. The yomogi bread had a nice aroma and tasted delicious, especially when toasted. The curry bread was filled with plenty of meat and curry that had been simmered for a long time, making it quite tasty. By the way, the same bread was also available at the souvenir corner of Rurikei Onsen.

I was quite surprised that this location within the facility was quite popular. I visited for the first time on May 12, 2016, during my stay at Rurikei Onsen. While exploring the "Potepote Park" within the facility, I decided to stop by. Despite the unassuming building, there were quite a few customers even after lunchtime. The location itself seems to attract a good number of customers. The interior of the restaurant was filled with the tempting smell of hamburgers. Already full from a BBQ lunch, I decided to take a coffee break. I was feeling quite thirsty after only having a beer at the BBQ venue, so I ordered an iced coffee while my companion had a cappuccino. We also tried a strawberry cream puff as they were having a strawberry fair. It seems like many customers are familiar with this place. The coffee came with delicious baked goods, which were a nice touch. The bakery items for sale also looked very appetizing. While we were having our tea, more and more customers arrived. Most of them were having the hamburger lunch, which must be really delicious. On that day, there was an event where you would receive a Rurikei Onsen bath ticket if you spent over 1000 yen at the cafe, which may have contributed to the high number of customers. Despite that, I still thought it was a wonderful experience.

The cafe in the Ruri Valley was unfortunately crowded due to the rain with no other places to go. I ordered a strawberry shortcake and an iced coffee, but the cake turned out to be store-bought, not freshly made. The coffee was average, served in a cheap-looking cup. Overall, it seemed like a typical cafe in a resort area with inexperienced staff members.

On June 7, 2013, my husband took a day off so we went on a drive. Our goal was to conquer Kyoto Prefecture! We headed towards Rurikei from Kameoka to Fukuchiyama, deep into the mountains. In a secluded area, there were leisure facilities such as hot springs and tennis courts. There was a water park, jacuzzi, hot springs, and a relaxation zone, all for around 1000 yen. We decided to visit a cafe nearby instead of the hot springs. The cafe had freshly baked bread and cakes. The cafe was almost full inside, with terrace seating available outside. We arrived around 3 o'clock, and even though I thought they wouldn't have a morning menu, they assured us they did. My husband ordered a soup set for 530 yen, while I chose a highland cream puff and tea for 630 yen. The garden view and spacious seating made time flow slowly. The soup set came with five different types of bread, each with a unique flavor. The soup was delicious. The cream puff had a tasty custard filling, likely made with good quality milk. The tea served in a stylish cup was exceptional. We had a relaxing time and bought some bread as souvenirs on our way home.

I moved to Nantan City less than a month ago. Compared to Kyotango City, there seems to be fewer stylish cafes here. Today, I found this cute cafe located in the park at Rurikei Onsen. It was mid-April, and they had classic cheesecake, black bean roll cake, strawberry shortcake, and tart on the menu. My partner ordered the highland cheesecake, and I got the tart with tea. The tea came with a cookie, which was a nice touch. The highland cheesecake was a classic and delicious. The strawberry tart was a bit small but tasty. They also sold bread like mountain bread, walnut bread, and fig bread, so I bought some as souvenirs. It might be a bit hard to get there without a car, but it's close to Kyoto City, with hot spring facilities, walking paths, and facilities for kids. It's a great place for a weekend getaway.

The restaurant is located a 5-minute walk from Rurikei Onsen, making it a nice spot for a leisurely stroll. The exterior is painted in pink, giving off a unique vibe, while the interior has a cozy, woody feel. I tried the morning set, which included a variety of sliced breads and a regular potage soup. The breads were rustic and not overly buttery, with options like mugwort and orange bread. I particularly enjoyed the orange bread, which had a subtle sweetness and aroma. My companion had the toast morning set, which featured buttery and crispy toast. We also took home a popular cheesecake and a black bean roll cake, both of which were delicious. The black bean roll cake had a rustic texture and a good balance of sweetness. Overall, we were satisfied with the food and plan to visit again with our children next time we go to Rurikei Onsen.

Bakery cafe with a bright red roof and pink floral walls located in Rurikei Onsen. They offer lunch and morning options. I decided to buy some handmade bread and sweets to take home since I didn't have much time to dine in. The black bean roll cake and smooth pudding looked delicious, but I went with the most popular item, the "Highland Cheesecake." It had a light and fluffy texture with a generous amount of cream cheese that was moist and refreshing. The taste was simple yet delicious. I could easily devour this cheesecake.

In 2010, the planned barbecue was canceled due to the ongoing hot weather and the risk of heatstroke. Instead, I spent a relaxing day at Rurikei Onsen Main Building. I wanted to try Fish Therapy, but it was fully booked. Before heading home, I bought a souvenir of Black Bean Roll for 1,500 yen. The sponge was a bit dry, maybe due to temperature control during transport.
In June 2010, I visited Rurikei Onsen for some relaxation. It is known for its radon hot spring, ranked 7th in the country. Located in the Kyoto Tamba Highlands, Rurikei is a designated scenic spot in a nature park. You can enjoy the hot spring or outdoor activities like swimming and stargazing at the resort. One of my favorite spots is Cafe Gardens, a bakery cafe with homemade bread, cakes, and a lunch buffet with all-you-can-eat bread. I bought their popular item, the High Altitude Cheesecake, for 1,000 yen. It had a fluffy and moist texture like souffle, with a light and not too sweet taste. Even for those who don't like sweet treats, this cheesecake is a good choice. It was so delicious that I wanted to have more even after cutting it into six pieces. Considering the size and price, it's definitely a great deal!

The location is easy to find. However, I'm not sure if I should park in the parking lot of Rurikei. I usually park on the road next to the store because I'm not sure (and there are always a few cars parked there, so I guess it's okay?). I've never been told anything about it. This cafe, located inside such a facility, has a nice atmosphere. The bread and cakes are all delicious with a rustic and natural taste, so you can't go wrong. Also, it's very reasonably priced. It's a perfect place for a short break during a drive.

This is a cafe located in Rurikei Onsen. We drove from the Kameoka area, and although there were some narrow roads along the way, we managed to arrive. It took about 30 minutes from Kameoka. Before soaking in the hot springs, we took a walk around and stumbled upon a cute cafe with a bright red roof. The staff seemed a bit rough, perhaps due to the large number of customers on the holiday, which was disappointing. However, we ordered some tea and the most popular item, the highland cheesecake. The cheesecake was indeed delicious and worth coming all the way here for. We wanted to buy some as souvenirs, but we had other plans ahead so we had to give up on that. The cafe is conveniently located within easy reach, and it gives you a feeling of being in the highlands, so I would like to visit again.
