This is a restaurant run by Laotians. I visited after a long time, combining it with a visit to Sanjusangendo. The restaurant was still thriving despite the pandemic. For lunch, I ordered the Larb Moo (Savory Minced Pork Salad) and the Isan Piset Set (Special Isan Thai Lunch Plate). Isan refers to the northeastern region of Thailand, which is across the river from Laos. The set included Tom Yum Goong, Ping Gai, Khao Kha Moo, Het To, Fak Khong Ko, Tam Maak Hung, and dessert. It was a great value for money. After sightseeing in Kyoto, I visited again for dinner. This time, I only ordered Laotian dishes. I ordered the Or (Braised Chicken in Herbs), Yor Chuen (Laotian-style Spring Rolls), Khao Soi Lao (Laotian-style Dan Dan Noodles), Khao Piyak Sen (Laotian-style Udon in Sauce), and Sup No Mai (Bamboo Shoot Salad). The Yor Chuen, with the unique idea of wrapping vegetables in spring rolls, and the spiciness of Sup No Mai reminded me of my trip to Laos. In Laos, they use a lot of herbs and local ingredients in their simple and healthy dishes. Unlike other Southeast Asian countries, they mainly eat sticky rice as their staple food. The dishes included Larb and Or Lam, which are made with essential herbs like galangal, lemongrass, and padaek. The restaurant is located near Keihan Shichijo Kawaramachi Station, just across the bridge, and the interior is designed like a riverside terrace. The Kamo River flowing in front of us made us feel like we were dining by the Mekong River. I have compiled the dishes I received into a video, so please check it out if you're interested.【Shichijo Kawaramachi】Keen Khao
