Tokyo Cafe Visit! Chuo Ward, Ginza Edition Exploring a cafe in Tokyo, in the Chuo Ward, Ginza area The famous anpan specialty store, Kimuraya's cafe Popular for their variety of sandwiches, such as the shrimp cutlet sandwich and beef tenderloin cutlet sandwich First visit to the well-established coffee shop "Cafe Kimuraya"! On a humid late summer day with overcast skies, I had some errands to run in Ginza. As I walked along the way, I remembered that I had planned to visit a cafe for my favorite sandwich. So, I decided to stop by for lunch in Ginza! Located near the Ginza 4-chome intersection, on the second floor of the famous anpan store Kimuraya, is the cafe. With a modern interior and a view of Ginza, this cafe has been in business since 1869, making it 153 years old. Kimuraya is famous for being the originator of yeast starter for bread, not using East Asian yeast. The first floor is a store, the second floor is a cafe, and the third floor is a Western-style grill. A specialty of Nagoya, the shrimp cutlet sandwich, is available in Ginza, along with a variety of sandwich options such as the small shrimp cutlet sandwich and the beef tenderloin cutlet sandwich. First visit to the popular coffee shop "Cafe Kimuraya"! Arrived around 11:30 AM on a weekday, and it was almost full of customers! The elderly waiter greeted me politely and showed me to my table. Without hesitation, I ordered my favorite small shrimp cutlet sandwich set with a drink included for ¥1750, and an iced coffee. After waiting for about 15 minutes, the generously filled shrimp cutlet sandwich arrived. The crispy and golden brown shrimp cutlet was topped with mayonnaise sauce, sandwiched between slices of toast. Served on the side were olives, baby cucumbers, and pickled tomatoes. When I took a bite of the shrimp sandwich, the crispy breading and plump shrimp texture were excellent. The mayonnaise sauce had a gentle and elegant taste, complementing the shrimp sandwich perfectly. The perfectly toasted bread had a crispy and chewy texture, which paired well with the shrimp cutlet. The iced coffee had a slightly bitter aroma and tasted excellent. While not as punchy as Nagoya's Co-op mayo sauce, the elegant and gentle mayonnaise sauce on the shrimp sandwich was superb. These refined dishes truly showcase the expertise of this long-standing anpan shop. I definitely want to come back next time to try the beef tenderloin cutlet sandwich. These exceptional flavors are addictive and make a revisit a must! Super delicious and exquisite!

I came to the café on the second floor of Kimuraya, located across from Kimuraya Ginza Mitsukoshi. Today, I ordered the Kimuraya special, which is anko pie with whipped cream and iced coffee set for ¥1,050 (tax included). My companion ordered the anpan set with hot coffee for ¥1,100 (tax included). The anko pie, with its perfect combination of anko and pie crust, becomes even milder with the addition of whipped cream. It was delicious. This time, we were able to sit by the window and enjoy the view of Ginza's streets. Thank you for the meal.

The cafe on the 2nd floor had about 8 people waiting, so I decided to get a sandwich to go. They said it would be a 5-6 group wait. Takeout orders are done quickly, within 5-10 minutes. I ordered a shrimp cutlet sandwich and a beef cutlet sandwich. I usually only buy the shrimp cutlet sandwich from the counter. The shrimp cutlet is still delicious even after some time has passed. Of course, it's better fresh, but it's still good. The pork cutlet is fried quite a bit, so when it's cold and has been sitting for a while, it becomes tough and not as tasty. That's why I prefer it fresh. I had never tried the beef cutlet sandwich before, but it looked a bit tough in the photos, so I gave it a try this time. The shrimp cutlet is delicious when fresh. The shrimp cutlet at Kimuraya is made of small pieces of shrimp connected together, so it's firm and tasty. It could use a bit more sweetness, as it's a bit too savory. If they could add a bit more sweetness, it would be even better. The beef cutlet sandwich is cooked medium-rare, but the meat isn't of great quality and it's not cut well, making it hard to chew in some parts. I wish they would change the way they cut it. In the end, it's best to stick with the shrimp cutlet sandwich.

I used it for lunch on Sunday. The beef cutlet sandwich was very tender and delicious. The location overlooking the main street of Ginza is also nice. It was a more elegant time as it is a pedestrian paradise.

- Date and Time: Visited around 13:30 on a weekend afternoon. Waited for about 20 minutes as there were 3-4 groups ahead. - Location: Came by train, with the nearest station being Ginza Station, about a 1-minute walk away. - Atmosphere: The exterior clearly marked as Kimuraya, with the first floor for bread sales and the cafe on the second and third floors. A mix of elderly, young people, and families were seen, but it wasn't noisy like a family restaurant. - Orders: Small Shrimp Sandwich with drink set for 1750 yen - shrimp was delicious and firm. Beef Fillet Cutlet Sandwich for 1950 yen (solo) - the meat was tender and tasty. Fruit Sandwich for 1250 yen - limited-time item, cream not too sweet and easy to eat. - Overall: Even on a weekend afternoon, there was a wait, making you conscious of finishing quickly to free up the table. The food was delicious, but the prices match, making it a bit challenging for solo diners to become regulars. (Of course, there were solo diners too.)

Visited with my family around 4:00 PM. The kids had cola and apple juice, while the adults had coffee float and iced coffee, along with a pork cutlet sandwich. The kids were surprised by the strong carbonation of the bottled cola. The cutlet sandwich was sliced into bite-sized pieces for easy eating. The pork cutlet had a thin crispy coating and a thick, tender meat which was delicious! The bread was toasted and came with cabbage inside. The pickles on the side were tasty and refreshing. The staff was polite and provided good service. Thank you for the meal. The red bean bun I bought from the bakery on the first floor on the way out was also delicious as expected! I forgot to take photos, so the only pictures I have are of the bakery on the first floor and the menu.

The morning set at Kimuraya Honten's 2nd floor cafe is a bit on the late side. Limited to weekdays, you can enjoy a Small Shrimp Cutlet Sandwich for 1550 yen (with drink included). The 10-11 am weekday special set is a bit of a high hurdle to reach (laughs). The quality is so high that I couldn't hide my joy... I couldn't help but smile. It was delicious! I thought it would be light, but the satisfaction after finishing it was great. The small sandwich had plump shrimp inside, crispy breading, and was very tasty. Pickles were served on the side, and when I bit into them, the sourness surprised me as I'm not a fan of sour flavors. It's a bit of a tricky time frame, not quite early morning or lunchtime, but the weekday morning menu with a drink included is recommended. Thank you for the meal.

We were able to enter after a short wait for the melon parfait and iced coffee. Even though we were already full, we shared the parfait between the two of us and enjoyed its refreshing taste. The parfait was tall but relatively light. We took a break while drinking the iced coffee.

Next to Ginza Wako, on the second floor of the main store of Ginza Kimuraya, is Ginza Kimuraya Tea Room. I arrived at the store at 12:10 on a weekday, it was my first visit in a while. The place was full except for a seat by the window that became available. I ordered the May limited edition "Strawberry and Matcha Parfait" as a single item for 1400 yen, with coffee or tea for 1600 yen, or with iced coffee for 1600 yen. The parfait consisted of vanilla ice cream, white chocolate on top of vanilla ice cream, decorative strawberry and cherry, blueberry, matcha warabi mochi, strawberry-filled water manju, shiratama, corn flakes, matcha cream, half-cut strawberry, red bean paste, matcha sponge, agar jelly with chopped strawberries, matcha syrup, matcha cream, and strawberry sauce. I enjoyed this diverse mix of Japanese and Western parfait while looking out onto Ginza Street during my lunch break.

I visited the restaurant around 12 o'clock on a weekday. Both the third-floor restaurant and the second-floor cafe had lines, but the wait seemed shorter on the second floor, so I wrote my name and waited. I was fourth in line, but I was seated in about 10 minutes. I had the small shrimp cutlet sandwich set for 1,750 yen, and the warm and chewy shrimp was very delicious. I didn't have time to try them, but I would like to try the fruit sandwich, apple pie, and red bean paste pie someday. However, the small shrimp cutlet sandwich was so delicious that I definitely want to come back for it! Thank you for the meal.

I tried shrimp cutlet for the first time and it was so plump and delicious! I went alone but couldn't help but smile (*^^*) The restaurant is located right in front of exit A9 of Ginza Station. It's a popular spot, but when I went around 5pm, it wasn't too crowded. The order arrived in about 5 minutes! The bread was crispy and delicious, as expected from a bread specialty shop. But the best part was the shrimp, it was really delicious. I love shrimp and have tried many shrimp dishes, but this was the first time I had shrimp of this size and this plumpness! I will definitely go back again.

I love Kimuraya's anpan, but I had never tried it at a cafe before, and I only vaguely knew that they had other menu items, so I was excited to visit. It's amazing that their anpan originated from yeast from sake instead of yeast from bread, which gives it a rich aroma. The bread is made on the upper floor of the same building, so you can enjoy it freshly made at a reasonable price. The main store is on the first floor, with a shop, the cafe on the second floor, and a Western grill on the third floor. This time, I visited the cafe on the second floor. The interior has a retro coffee shop atmosphere with a counter and table seats, and it's spacious. Despite being a long-established store, the cute patterns on the wet towels and coasters made my heart flutter. It was a cute retro space. Moreover, with the glass windows by the window, natural light comes in, making it pleasant on sunny days. You can also enjoy the view of the Ginza streets from the table seats, giving it an open feel. I had trouble deciding between the pie and anpan, so I had the staff help me decide. I ordered the following two items: - Small shrimp cutlet sandwich: This was the most delicious small shrimp cutlet sandwich I've ever had. I have an image of cutlet sandwiches having a lot of filler, but this one was packed full of plump shrimp, which was impressive. It was served hot and freshly fried, which was delightful. The orle sauce, a blend of tomato ketchup and mayonnaise, had a mild sweet and sour taste that complemented the small shrimp nicely. - Fruit sandwich: This is a limited menu item only available at the second-floor cafe. The fruits used vary depending on the season. It has a distinctive thin form, and a fork is provided, making it feel like a cake. The bread is a moist Danish pastry, and it uses rum, giving it a fragrant and slightly lighter taste compared to buttery Danish pastries. The cream is not just whipped cream but also includes cream cheese, giving it a rich and creamy texture. The sandwich contains strawberries, mangoes, and kiwis, all cut into large pieces, giving it a fresh and juicy taste. Both items were so delicious that I might get addicted to sandwiches. I want to visit again to try other menu items that caught my eye. I also might end up buying something at the shop on the first floor on my way in and out... I hope to visit again in the near future.

[Cafe Kimuraya] Ginza Recommended points: - For those who love shrimp cutlet sandwiches - For those who love shrimp - For friends/family Recommended orders: - Fruit sandwich (with coffee or tea): 1,250 yen - Small shrimp cutlet sandwich: 1,550 yen I visited the cafe of the long-established store "Kimuraya," famous for their anpan since 1869! - Fruit sandwich I ordered it after hearing the staff say it was the last one available as a limited item on the second floor cafe. It was filled with plenty of strawberries, mangoes, and kiwi. Instead of using sandwich bread, they used a moist Danish pastry, and you could really taste the butter! The cream wasn't too sweet, so it paired well with the sweet and fresh fruits! - Small shrimp cutlet sandwich I was extremely impressed by this! The cross-section was irresistible, with plenty of shrimp packed inside. The crispy shrimp cutlet on the toasted bread, combined with the savory sauce, was exquisite. You must try this shrimp cutlet, it's a must-have! The atmosphere inside the cafe is clean and cozy, with a sense of history. If you're looking for a relaxing cafe in Ginza, this is highly recommended!

■Shop Information When it comes to a bakery in Ginza, Kimuraya is the place to go. Not widely known, but they have a café on the second floor with about 30 seats. What sets them apart is that they serve freshly made items, not just what you purchase. Today, I ordered the Small Shrimp Cutlet Sandwich! ■Food Ordered - Small Shrimp Cutlet Sandwich ¥1550 It arrived in about 20 minutes. The presentation was stunning, perfect for Instagram! The sandwich was cut into 6 equal parts. The cutlet was packed with small shrimp and had a nice texture. Of course, being a bakery, the bread was delicious as well. While the price may seem a bit high, considering the location in Ginza and the quality, I think it's reasonable. If you love shrimp sandwiches, you should definitely give it a try! I got a beef fillet cutlet sandwich for takeout on a Sunday afternoon. They offer takeout service where you can either call ahead to reserve or order in person. I called last minute on the day and was able to purchase it. I was very satisfied with the taste. When I opened it, I thought the cutlet was thin, but the meat was tender and the breading was light, not greasy, and paired well with the sauce. The bread was soft without being toasted, so it might be a matter of preference. I reheated half of it in a toaster and ate the other half as is, and it was delicious even when it cooled down. The size is on the smaller side, so just this alone might not be enough for dinner after having it for lunch.

I visited Cafe Kimuraya for breakfast today, after being impressed by the lovely atmosphere on the floor above. Despite it being a weekday, there were already two groups waiting when I arrived around 10:20 am. I ordered the shrimp cutlet sandwich with a side of mini salad and a warm tea. The mini salad was generous and satisfying. Then the shrimp cutlet sandwich arrived, packed full of plump shrimp between crispy toasted bread. It was delicious and the pickles on the side were a nice touch. The tea was also served with care, with warm milk on the side. As the morning went on, more seats became available, allowing for a relaxed dining experience. Overall, it was a delightful visit.

Kimuraya as usual for our regular course. My mother always wants something sweet after a meal. She walks quite slowly and gets tired easily, so we decided to come to this place near Mitsukoshi. It was surprisingly crowded, but we got inside in about 15 minutes. A kind person offered a seat to my mother. Seeing that, I strongly felt that I want to do the same! It would be nice if kindness could create a good chain reaction. Today, all three of us had anmitsu. Anmitsu and sandwiches are not that different in price, so I hesitated a bit. But I already had rice earlier, so I might gain weight if I eat too much, haha. The taste was quite ordinary, but we were able to sit and relax a bit, so this place is convenient. Depending on the season, they might have a monthly parfait. I can't remember if it was last year or two years ago, but the lemon parfait was the most delicious I've ever had, and I want to try it again. I need to check when I pass by next time.

I have passed by the Kimura family's restaurant many times, but this was my first time actually going in. The second floor is a café and the third floor is a restaurant. I wanted to have a sandwich, so I decided to wait in the café. It was a little after 3 PM on a Sunday, and there were 4 groups in front of me, then 3 groups, so I had to wait by the elevator. The interior of the restaurant was quite cozy. I ordered the beef cutlet sandwich with a drink set (2150 yen). It seemed a bit pricey, but the sandwich was amazing. The meat was rare and the breading was flavorful, making it moist. The toast had a crispy texture. It was a very satisfying lunch.

This is a cafe located on the second floor of Ginza's famous "Kimuraya" known for its anpan. The first floor is a sales floor where you can buy bread, the second floor is a cafe, and the third and fourth floors are for dining. The cafe has counter seats and table seats, with windows overlooking the streets of Ginza, allowing you to relax and enjoy your tea. We tried the Beef Fillet Cutlet Sandwich for 1950 yen. The cutlet sandwich comes in three pieces, each cut in half for easy eating. It consists of fillet cutlet and lettuce only, with plenty of special sauce that has a nostalgic ketchup flavor with a hint of lemon. The bread is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The meat is tender and juicy, matching the softness of the bread. It comes with pickles. We also had the Matcha Cream Anmitsu for 1100 yen. It includes agar jelly, red beans, coarse sweet bean paste, matcha ice cream, cherries, four pieces of mochi, and chestnuts. The agar jelly is soft, the sweet bean paste is rich with less moisture, and it has a good level of sweetness. The chestnuts are large and gently sweet, with a slightly firm texture. The first floor is crowded with customers, but the cafe on the second floor is less busy, allowing you to enjoy your tea at a leisurely pace. Both the fillet cutlet and anmitsu were delicious. This cafe might be a hidden gem.

I visited the place for the beef fillet cutlet sandwich, but it was priced at 1,980 yen, not 1,680 yen as I thought. It's a bit expensive compared to Ginza Sand, I thought. However, since the menu photo didn't show it as a mille-feuille, I concluded that it must be delicious! So, I decided to try the 1,300 yen pork cutlet sandwich instead. The restaurant was crowded, but the sandwich arrived quite quickly. The cutlet was tender with no fatty parts. The sauce seemed to have more vegetables and fruits, giving it a slightly fruity flavor. It was delicious in its own way. Some might find it expensive for the portion size, but I didn't feel unsatisfied, so I think it's worth a rating of 3.5 stars. Pork cutlet sandwich for 1,300 yen.

This is my first visit to Café Kimuraya. Located in the well-known Ginza 4-chome, it is a café within the main store of Ginza Kimuraya. I was surprised to find out that each floor has a different shop. This time, I had lunch at Café Kimuraya on the second floor. Luckily, I was able to enter without waiting in line due to the rain. I ordered the White Fish Fry Sandwich for ¥1100. Since it is a bakery, I wanted to choose a menu item using bread. I found a weekly lunch set which looked delicious, so I ordered the White Fish Fry Sandwich. In addition to the main sandwich, it came with a salad, dessert, and drink, making it a reasonable price for Ginza standards. The crispy fried white fish was sandwiched between soft bread slices, and the fish was thick and satisfying to eat. I chose a hot coffee as my drink. I would like to come back next time to try the dessert.
