At the beginning of the year, I went to Aeon Mall Kyoto Katsuragawa. Even though I knew it would be crowded, I couldn't help but go! If it were me 10 years ago, single and without kids, I would have said, "Why are we going there?" Well, things have changed now... Tokubei-san, not very well-known in Kansai, but quite popular in Aichi, Gifu, and the Tokai region, is a high-end conveyor belt sushi restaurant. I used to think it was pretty good, but now it feels like it has become just another typical place (quite expensive for its taste). When it reaches that point, it might transition more to a rotating izakaya style like Kura Sushi. If you think of it as conveyor belt sushi, it feels a bit overpriced, but if you think of it as an izakaya, it's actually quite cheap, and it's more reassuring than eating sushi from an unknown source at an izakaya. On this day, I ordered a shellfish assortment (around 1000 yen), fried lotus root (around 400 yen), hokkaido scallop sushi (around 200 yen), and a three-kind assortment of kue, fugu, and nodoguro (around 1000 yen), along with a non-alcoholic drink (around 400 yen). Total cost was 3000 yen. That's all I can say about it, haha.
