I stopped by Hakkotei in Kyotamba-cho on July 31, 2023. This restaurant is located along Route 9 and has a spacious parking lot with shuttle services available. The interior of the restaurant is quite large, with a front desk as you enter the entrance. On the left side, there are tables for small groups, while on the right side, there are private rooms available. The table seating area is spacious, with a glass wall facing the national highway, creating an open and airy atmosphere. The menu is quite diverse, ranging from affordable lunch options to dishes featuring Tanba beef, steak, sashimi, soba, eel, and seasonal dishes like sweetfish and conger eel. I originally planned to eat at a specialty eel restaurant on the day of the Ox Day of the Midsummer, but it was fully booked, so I decided to try this restaurant where I could also enjoy domestically produced eel. For my meal, I ordered the Eel Bowl (¥3500) which consisted of a whole eel from Mikawa. It was probably farmed eel and priced relatively affordably. The eel was crispy on the outside, with a good amount of fat that paired well with the sauce. The liver sashimi was fresh and had a rich flavor. The pickles of daikon radish and Shibazuke were a nice touch to cleanse the palate. I also had the Grilled Sweetfish, which I forgot to take a photo of. They were slightly small but tender all the way to the bone, and seasoned just right with salt. Overall, I was able to enjoy a delicious eel bowl unexpectedly, making it a satisfying dining experience. That's all for now, thank you for the meal.

We stopped by for lunch on our way to Kinosaki with my husband. The lunch menu had a good volume and was priced at 1000 yen or less, making it a great value. The staff were also very friendly and provided excellent service. Thank you for the meal! ^ ^Instagram maki07.11

I went to the restaurant recommended by a patient. It is located in front of Sachi High School, next to Tanba Nature Park. I had the Chicken Nanban set meal and Yuba Ankake Udon. The portions were generous. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant.

I had lunch at a Japanese restaurant in Kyoto Tango. This day, I was on a sightseeing bus trip towards Kyoto Maizuru area. I had never been to the Japan Sea side of Kyoto Prefecture before, so I was looking forward to it! Of course, the taste of the Japan Sea in winter! Snow crabs were also one of the highlights (laughs). I visited Hakkotei as a lunch spot included in the travel itinerary. The interior of the restaurant has a traditional Japanese style and a sense of luxury. I was guided to a room at the back. The tatami room had tables and chairs arranged, making it comfortable for a meal without hurting your legs. Recently, this style has become more popular, which I welcome. The appetizers, soup, salmon salad, and mixed rice were all ready in advance due to the large number of people. The appetizers were focused on color, but I didn't feel a particular commitment to the ingredients. There were many sweetly seasoned ingredients that didn't seem to go well with alcohol or rice. The steamed dish was light with white fish broth, shimeji mushrooms, and aromatic vegetables. It was not a rich broth, but it was okay. The individual hot pot was with conger eel and shimeji mushrooms, to be dipped in ponzu sauce. There was also eggplant and shiitake mushroom tempura with sweet miso sauce, but it might feel lacking without seafood. The steamed egg custard with savory sauce was the dessert. Overall, the dishes were made with inexpensive ingredients, mostly using potatoes that seemed filling but not very impressive. It seemed to be a cost-focused set menu for bus tours. There seemed to be other more delicious courses available, so I would like to try them next time. It was delicious, thank you for the meal. ^^

When you leave the town hall of Kyotamba and continue straight on Route 9, a shop suddenly appears. I remember there used to be a family restaurant at this location, but now it is part of the Hikarikan group in Nantan City. The exterior is not too imposing and has an inviting atmosphere, with a spacious parking lot. There is a menu board in front of the shop. Inside, there are several private rooms, and there is also a small sunken kotatsu seating area near the register. For small groups, you will be seated at tables in the back area. This space may also be used for group dining with reservations, as there were paintings and decorations in the spacious area. In addition to lunch menus, there are also a la carte options available for dinner. The lunch menu is not geared towards business settings, but more towards a leisurely lunch for elegant ladies, with prices above 1500 yen resembling a mini kaiseki meal. Since I didn't have time for such an elegant lunch, I ended up ordering the Joten Don. The bowl arrived with the lid gently floating on top, presenting a visually appealing dish. When I opened the lid, I found a generous serving of tempura: a single-fried conger eel, shrimp, shiitake mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, pumpkin, eggplant, and shiso leaf. There was grated daikon radish in one corner. The broth was relatively light, and the rice was average. The conger eel tempura was delicious, but the batter was a bit too thick, making it slightly heavy towards the end. Overall, the tempura was not exceptional. The atmosphere in the restaurant was nice, but the spacious layout with small groups scattered around made it feel somewhat lonely. It felt like a slightly more luxurious family restaurant, especially with the tempura bowl.

◆2014/07/06◆Visited Hakkotei in Kyoto Tanba for a meal with my family! (^^) This was a restaurant I had been curious about while on the way to a business meeting! I was expecting a slightly luxurious Japanese-style family restaurant, but upon entering, it had a more traditional Japanese inn atmosphere! However, the pricing was similar to a family restaurant, very reasonable! Hakkotei is a branch of Hakkotei, a high-end kaiseki restaurant based in Yagi. ◆Atmosphere◆ The interior had a high-class feel, and we were seated at a spacious table with enough privacy as the seating was well-spaced. There were also private rooms of various sizes, and the place seemed quite popular with several reservations. The soothing sound of a koto played in the background, typical of Kyoto. ◆Service◆ While some staff seemed inexperienced, they were polite and attentive. ◆Food◆ We opted for the summer limited edition Noryozen set menu for 1300 yen for lunch, and my son added the Ankake Udon for 800 yen. *Noryozen* Cold noodles served in a bamboo-shaped dish with crushed ice underneath, garnished beautifully with colorful condiments, looking refreshing and delicious. The tempura shrimp was of good quality, but nothing extraordinary. The chawanmushi was soft and well-made, very tasty. The eel scattered sushi had good eel and toppings, but the rice was a bit soft. *Ankake Udon* The ankake sauce wasn't too hot, which was perfect for my son who has a sensitive tongue. Overall, considering the price, we were quite satisfied. I would like to come back with my colleagues next time.
