The special soy sauce ajitama ramen costs 869 yen (tax included) and you order first before receiving your meal after payment. There are free toppings like chopped green onions and pickled radish available at the counter. The ramen features a rich pork bone soy sauce broth with plenty of back fat, sliced chashu pork, and the classic Kyoto ramen taste, making it consistently delicious.

After placing my order, I joined the line and waited for about 10 minutes to receive my ramen. The special toppings looked like petals of chashu pork. You can also add green onions and pickled radish as toppings. Kairikiya, along with Ra Ra Ra, has been instrumental in spreading Kyoto ramen throughout the country. This ramen has a rich soy sauce broth with plenty of pork fat and includes Kujo green onions. I shared it with my daughter and it was delicious.

Today, I had work in Katsura in the morning, and then hurriedly moved to Osaka. So, I decided to stop by Katsura Aeon Mall, which opens early in the morning, and pick up dinner to go before enjoying ramen here. Since I might end up with a losing ticket later, I opted for the reliable Kaikado shop. I think shoyu tonkotsu ramen is always good no matter who makes it. Food courts like this can sometimes have not-so-tasty options made by amateurs, but this shop was good. I quickly left the shop to prepare for my next move.

At Ion Mall Katsuragawa, there are two ramen shops - Ippudo Ramen Express Kyoto Katsuragawa and Ramen Kairikiya Ion Mall Kyoto Katsuragawa. After not feeling full with a bowl of fried rice from Ippudo, I decided to try Kairikiya. The chef was visible from the customer's side, vigorously cooking in a pot and also preparing dumplings. The fried rice was seasoned with a black liquid twice (from different containers, so maybe two different seasonings?). The portion was smaller than Ippudo, but it came with soup. The rice was well-cooked, crispy, and flavorful, with a hint of spices. The soy sauce flavor was milder than Ippudo, but had a nice spicy kick. Overall, the technique seemed better here, and the seasoning was on par. This was quite delicious.

My husband's dinner. I used a 100 yen discount coupon I received at the Kichijoji store. The regular price. I had the Jet Black Ramen for 750 yen and added fried rice for an extra 230 yen, totaling 880 yen (⌒∇⌒). I had a taste, and even though the color was dark, the flavor was quite light. I was expecting it to be a bit more salty or spicy, but it was different. My husband, who rarely drinks the soup, actually drank quite a bit of it. It seemed to suit his taste and he enjoyed it. At this shop, you can enjoy unlimited takuan (pickled daikon), add as much green onion as you like, and even add as much garlic as you want. You can also specify the firmness of the noodles, the amount of pork fat, and the amount of green onions you prefer. I have tried almost all the shops in Kyoto, but I was curious to see how they would fare in a food court setting. I ordered firm noodles with extra pork fat and extra green onions. Unfortunately, the unlimited takuan, green onions, and garlic were not available. The ramen was a delicious chicken broth with pork fat, and I enjoyed it.

I went to "Miryokuya" in the food court of Keigan Aeon Mall in Katsuragawa. I had the soy sauce flavored ramen (large) for 850 yen and a draft beer for 480 yen. The noodles were thin and straight with a good chewiness, and the soup had a slight sweetness without being too heavy or light, making it easy to eat. In other words, the taste was the same as the Kawaramachi Sanjo branch. It's impressive that they can achieve this level of flavor in a food court. Well, I guess I just really like the taste of this place.

This is also a visit record from 2018, the 'Kairikiya' store of 'Kairakutei' which shows a chain expansion in a catch-up and overtake manner. October 2018, it had been a while since I visited 'Kairikiya'. Although I often go to AEON, I haven't been here in a while. So, I decided to line up at 'Kairikiya' but what should I eat? The fried rice is delicious, right? Maybe it's my first time trying the rich and flavorful menu, which seems to be a counter to the rich menu on the other side. To cut to the chase, this was not good. The richness is completely missing. Where is the flavor? Hmm... 'Kairikiya' is best with their default menu. Oh, but the fried rice made by the older sister was delicious. December 2018, I tried the jet-black black soy sauce ramen at 'Kairikiya' after a long time. My family and I went to AEON for shopping, and then my son said, "I want to eat ramen," so we ended up here. I think last time I tried the rich and flavorful ramen and it was not great, so this time I tried the limited edition jet-black black soy sauce ramen. The appearance is definitely like the ramen from Shinpukusenkan with its completely black soup, but it has bean sprouts so it's different from Shinpuku. When I tried it, the difference was clear - it's a quite sweet soy sauce soup with sweetness overpowering everything else. It's a completely different approach from Shinpuku. It's not bad as a bowl of ramen, but I wish it had a bit less sweetness and more of a dashi flavor. However, as a food court option, it's of high quality.

There was no line at the storefront. I used to have to wait at the storefront after ordering, but this time I was given a buzzer. I thought it was convenient not to have to worry about the order. However, I was a little disappointed that the gyoza wasn't piping hot, maybe because the side dishes were prepared first. This food court shop in Katsuragawa offers the same taste as the street shops, making it convenient for a quick meal during shopping breaks. Thank you for the soy sauce ramen.

I purchased the Special Soy Sauce Ramen with Vegetables (large) for 850 yen and the Yakimeshi set meal for 230 yen on a regular Friday at 11:30. The total came to 1166 yen including tax. The place was not crowded when I arrived. I found this place when I had a sudden craving for soy sauce ramen. After adding some pepper and shichimi togarashi at the counter, the ramen tasted great, especially with the added vegetables. The fried rice was also delicious and had a nice texture. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

While the well-known "Rairai-tei" has a blue counter, this place has a red counter. In September 2017, I visited Kyoto Shikkoku Shoyu Ramen at Keigan Aeon Mall after a long time. As a little snack, I decided to have a bowl at "Kairikiya" and was surprised to see a black bowl on the menu! It seemed to be a limited-time offer, but I had to try it. The soup was jet black, similar to the black ramen at "Shinfuku Nakan" and closer to the Toyama Black at "Nishimachi Daiki." However, I was shocked by the sweetness of the soup. The sweetness, possibly from the soy sauce or other seasonings, was completely unnecessary in my opinion. The noodles and chashu were standard, and the use of white negi was a nice touch. But the sweetness was just too much for me.

In December 2015, I tried the super spicy ramen at a restaurant called Kairikiya in the food court of Keigan ION. It was not as spicy as I expected, but it lacked flavor. I prefer spicy food that is also delicious.
