The lobby and cafe space are set at a low temperature, so warm foods like soup and pho are served cold, which is disappointing. Drinks are available in takeout cups, which is convenient. Thanks to the current situation, I decided to stay at a cheap hotel in Kyoto. The hotel offered a night bento and breakfast the next morning, and I used a coupon from a reservation site to get a rate of 8,000 yen. I was curious to try out a trendy new hotel, so I chose this one. The room had only a shower, but there was a communal bath. I don't mind not having a bathtub, so that was fine. However, to be honest, the cleanliness of the room was lacking. I can't go into specifics, but I was quite surprised because I had never encountered this level of cleanliness issue before. I understand that it may be difficult to make a profit in this situation, but if the shortcomings are easily noticeable to guests, then it defeats the purpose. I feel that when one area is lacking, it makes everything else seem bad too. I realized that the service level that traditional hotels value is important. I had to pick up the sweets from a nearby store. I was surprised at how expensive traditional Japanese sweets are. I expected them to be more modest since I am used to convenience store sweets. The Nagano purple sweet bean paste mochi I received was good, but it didn't exceed my expectations. It was just as I expected. The bento was picked up at the front desk at the designated time. It was a hassle to go all the way to the front desk to pick it up, especially since I had no plans for the evening. The bento had a variety of ingredients and flavors, but it felt a bit light due to the low oil content. This impression may vary from person to person. I was looking forward to breakfast, but it was disappointing. It had a chain business hotel feel to it, which was a letdown. The curry made me think of retort curry, and the pho soup looked oily, possibly because the tongs were missing and I had to use the ones for potato fries. The plates and utensils were made of resin and looked cheap. It may be safe, but it felt lacking in quality. The breakfast lacked the unique touch I was hoping for, and it was a letdown. This experience made me realize that there may be reasons why some places are not trendy. I'm satisfied with my experience and don't feel the need to return.

This is a hotel that opened in June 2021, located right near JR Nijo Station. I stayed for 3 nights during the long weekend in November 2022 for a trip to Kyoto. Although I originally planned to have breakfast once, I ended up not eating it due to a change in plans, so I only used the free cafe service, which is why I will check "Not Applicable" on the food log just in case. There is a spacious area called "Canvas Lounge" from the front desk to the back on the 1st floor, with table seats, sofa seats, etc. The operating hours are breakfast 6:30-10:00 (for guests only), cafe 11:00-18:00, bar 18:00-24:00 (last order 23:00), and guests could enjoy free self-service coffee, etc. between check-in and check-out, which I used 2-3 times. I personally liked the iced matcha latte the most. My companion seemed to like the cocoa. Kyoto has many new and beautiful hotels to choose from, which is also part of the fun.
