Here I go again. I tried the new menu, Tempura Don Set with change to Mochi barley rice for 860 yen, and change to clam soup for 180 yen, totaling 1,040 yen. It's a juicy chicken thigh with crispy coating, a specialty of Oita. You can enjoy it with grated daikon, ponzu sauce, and mustard. The portion is quite large and satisfying. By the time you finish with the rice soup, you'll be full.

I had dinner here today. It was my first time, so I carefully looked at the menu. I love eggplants, so I ordered the eggplant miso and grilled fish set meal with soy meat to keep the calories in check. It seemed good for my body. However, the soy meat wasn't tasty and had a weird texture. I should have skipped it. But everything else was delicious. I even had seconds of rice, which surprised me because it automatically came out without me having to ask. It was a pleasant surprise. Thank you for the meal.

Today I had work in Nittanabe, and I wasn't sure if I would have a lunch break, so I decided to have a hearty breakfast at Yayoiken. I ordered the Shirasu Oroshi breakfast set, which comes with unlimited rice refills. I finished my first bowl of rice with Shirasu Oroshi and seaweed, and also enjoyed Yayoiken's original pickled vegetables. For my second bowl, I had Tamago Kake Gohan (rice topped with raw egg) and miso soup, again enjoying the pickled vegetables in between bites. For my third bowl, I poured free dashi broth and Shirasu Oroshi over the rice, creating a kind of ochazuke. I added soy sauce and sprinkled shichimi spice when the ochazuke was halfway gone, enjoying the delicious flavors. I was completely satisfied after eating three bowls of rice for only 390 yen. It was a great deal! I highly recommend trying the Marurogu-style meal at Yayoiken. Today, I had a job near Kyoto Station so I stopped by a nearby Yayoiken restaurant. It was my first time at Yayoiken, and I noticed there were a lot of foreign customers. I ordered the natto breakfast. I found out that the pickles were free, but the natto breakfast didn't come with an egg, so I ordered an additional egg. The rice was all-you-can-eat, and you could even serve yourself using the rice serving machine! That was quite innovative. The miso soup was also free, so for my second helping of rice, I mixed it with pickles and made it into a tea rice dish. All this for only 430 yen, it's so cheap! They must be putting in a lot of effort. I'll definitely come back for lunch next time! Thank you for the meal!

For lunch, I could have eaten at the dining hall, but I decided to go to Yayoi Koji for a change! I usually order grilled mackerel or grilled Atka mackerel. Tonight, I plan to go for sushi. Let's go for fried food, priced at 980 yen. Even though it comes with shrimp fry and pork cutlet, I wish it was a bit more delicious. The shrimp fry is small and the pork cutlet is thin and dry. Convenience store bento boxes taste better. The rice is terrible. It used to be tastier before. The pickles are delicious. Maybe the place is crowded because of its good location. Even though it's all-you-can-eat, the first serving of rice is small, so I end up getting a refill. There's a side dish of pickles next to the self-serve rice, and I discovered ochazuke (rice in tea) with pickles on top. It's delicious!!!

During my trip to Kyoto, I always stay at a cheap hotel near Kyoto Station Hachijo Exit. As a result, I often end up eating at places like McDonald's, Nakau, Yoshinoya, and Yayoiken. This time, I chose Yayoiken for my first night in Kyoto. It had been a few years since I last ate there. I usually order the meat and vegetable stir-fry set, but this time I went for the ginger pork set because I was craving raw vegetables (cabbage). However, the total amount of vegetables you can get is probably the highest in the meat and vegetable stir-fry set. It had been a few years since I last ate at Yayoiken, and I noticed that they now offer rice refills. I couldn't find where the rice was placed after getting a refill, and I felt too embarrassed to ask the staff or search around, so I left without finding it. As I was leaving the restaurant, I finally found where the "rice refill machine" was located. The first picture was taken after I had already started eating.

This was my first time at Yayoiken, and I decided to try the miso katsu stew. I was expecting a red miso flavor, but was surprised by the unexpected sourness, lack of sweetness, and minimal umami taste. It was a confusing taste experience, with flavors that didn't quite come together. It seemed to have a mix of doubanjiang, red miso (probably made from rice koji), and maybe ketchup for sweetness. If I had to suggest a change, I would recommend turning this into a Sichuan-style miso katsu stew with doubanjiang, sweet soy sauce, and fermented black beans. Overall, I would rate this dish as 2.5 stars, but for those who enjoy this unique flavor profile, I would recommend giving it a try. Other menu items may be more standard, so this rating is specific to this dish.

I came on April 9, 2021. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and calming. I ordered the hormone set meal and tamagoyaki, which were delicious and fantastic. It filled my whole body with happiness. I am completely satisfied and happy. Next time, I want to try the kalbi set meal. If I'm really hungry, I might go for the luxurious set meal with kalbi and hormone. Thank you for the delicious meal. I will definitely go back. The level of spiciness at Yoiyokken, Umakara Chige Nabe Kyoto Nijo store was different when I had it in the evening. When I had it at the Hachijo store for lunch, it was extremely spicy beyond just spicy... The amount of spice varies from store to store. It was delicious, but I felt it was about a level 3 spiciness.

Sometimes, I end up making strange choices like choosing Chinese food even though I'm at a Yayoiken restaurant. I ended up choosing the set meal with twice-cooked pork and mapo tofu. The twice-cooked pork goes really well with rice, and so does the mapo tofu. A perfect combination. However, I wish the mapo tofu was a bit spicier. The rice is all-you-can-eat. I used a coupon for tamagoyaki and upgraded my dinner to a slightly luxurious one.

I had the Japanese-style sauce steak set meal at a restaurant located at the corner of the intersection of Kyoto Station Hachijo-guchi and Route 1. The hot meat that came out was not too fatty, making it easy to eat and very delicious. It is conveniently located near the station, so I think it is convenient to use. I will go again.

I visited the restaurant in August 2020 for breakfast. It is located at the Kyoto Station Hachijo-guchi. I ordered the fried egg breakfast for 470 yen, with additional raw egg for 60 yen, change to barley for 30 yen, change to clam soup for 180 yen, and grated yam for 150 yen. I also ordered the pork cutlet and shrimp fry set meal for 890 yen. It's great that you can have a hearty set meal for breakfast. It's also convenient to be able to make changes like switching to clam soup or barley rice. I recommend this place as it's in a convenient location.

Taste: ◯〜◎ Changing to cold soup was a good decision, and the seasoning was not bad. The rice was also refillable. As I was thinking that, I stumbled upon "Yayoiken Kyoto Station Hachijo-guchi Branch." It's been a while since I've been to Yayoiken, so why not! I went in and purchased a ticket for the Sakura Island Chicken and Egg Bowl for 650 yen. I sat at a two-person table and in no time, my meal was served. It came with miso soup. The flavor was mild and comforting. The chicken and egg bowl was gentle and heartwarming. I finished my meal within 10 minutes. Now, let's push through the rest of the day. Thank you for the meal. I went to a Yayoiken near Kyoto Station today to eat eel. Yayoiken is a chain restaurant located near the station, making it easy to enter. I ordered the Hitsumabushi set meal, which costs over 1,000 yen. It came in a stacked box, giving it a luxurious feel. It also came with a tea cup for the broth and a pot of broth. This is Hitsumabushi. The eel was cut into easy-to-eat pieces and there was plenty of it. It was soft and delicious. I finished by pouring the broth over the rice. I am satisfied after eating the eel I came for.

Today, the soy sauce and other condiments were not set up properly! ❗

During a business trip to Kyoto, I tried to find a place for lunch but all the popular spots were crowded. I ended up going to a Yayoiken a little further away. The restaurant was packed with office workers, but I managed to find a seat quickly. I ordered the vegetable stir-fry set meal from the ticket machine. However, when it arrived, the presentation was sloppy and the vegetable stir-fry was overly salty, making it quite difficult to eat. I couldn't finish the meal as it was not very appetizing.

For breakfast, I had shirasu (baby sardines) with grated daikon. ☀️
