After work, I wanted to buy some famous mochi as a souvenir. I heard that Futaba in Demachi is quite famous, so I went there. The staff told me that the owner trained at Demachi Futaba and then opened his own shop. The mochi was delicious, with the taste of Tanba black beans really standing out. I will definitely come back to buy more!

I stopped by when I was taking a walk. This shop is famous for its strawberry daifuku. It is located in front of the Toei Uzumasa Studio. It is conveniently located near the station with coin parking available in the area, so I think the access is good. When you come to Uzumasa, be sure to stop by. Warabi mochi is also recommended. This is delicious!

In the case of a car, it is safer to park at a nearby parking lot as the shop is located in a narrow alley. You enter through a sliding door and immediately find alcohol disinfectant on your right. The shop operates on a self-selection style where you choose your items from a case. It seems to be for takeout only. The interior is filled with photos of actors, giving off a sense of the location's history. It seems they have a connection to Toei Kyoto Studio Park. The packaging is labeled clearly with stickers indicating the contents. The mochi in the bean daifuku is softer and chewier compared to Demachiyanagi, with larger beans that stand out. The skin here is a bit salty, I think. What I really enjoy is the fruit daifuku. They offer various options depending on the season, which is a great value for money. At a certain shop in Nishikyo, they are priced in the 300 yen range, so it's easy to end up ordering "one more." They also offer a combination deal, perfect as a souvenir from the movie village. If you're tired from exploring since morning, it might be nice to get off the Randen line and take a leisurely walk here. For Kyoto locals, how about relaxing at Tenzan-yu hot spring and then picking up some souvenirs here?

⇒ Located next to the Kyoto Toei Studios, this shop is favored by Toda Keiko and Nakamura Shikan. Recently, fruit daifuku using gyuhire has become popular, but this shop has always focused on traditional mochi, which is why it is popular among actors. Before heading to Matsuo Shrine, I stopped by here. Order! * "Uzumasa Tanba Black Daifuku" 170 yen... 3.3: Using the finest Tanba black beans! The perfect balance of saltiness with mochi, sweet bean paste, and Tanba black beans creates a wonderful harmony of flavors. The sweetness and saltiness complement each other, making it easy to keep eating more. * "Uzumasa Tsubuan Ichigo" 250 yen... 3.3: The chewy mochi with strawberries and sweet red bean paste has a great balance, combining the juicy acidity of strawberries with the sweetness of the bean paste. Delicious! * "Shiroan Yukimi Ichigo" 250 yen... 3.3: This is the white bean paste version. Without the beans, the harmony between the bean paste and strawberries is excellent. It's a matter of preference whether this or the previous one is better. Conclusion: Overall, the prices are very reasonable! If we compare the cost between gyuhire and mochi, mochi is more expensive. But at this price point, it's half the price of trendy fruit daifuku shops! Is white bean paste the trend now? Personally, I prefer the red bean paste because it stands out more and you can taste the strawberries better. However, I feel that the amount of mochi is throwing off the overall balance, so I think it would be perfect with a bit less mochi. Thank you for always liking, saving, and following the shop. If you have any recommended shops, please feel free to share in the comments. Thank you all for your continued support.

I had been curious for a while and finally made my first visit to a Japanese sweets shop. I bought peach daifuku, warabi mochi, and chestnut yokan. I wonder if this shop is a branch of the Futaba shop in Demachiyanagi that I've heard of before. I had tried the Demachiyanagi Futaba's bean daifuku as a gift before, and I wanted to try the fruit daifuku, so I chose the peach one. The outer layer seemed to be tailored for the bean daifuku, with a strong saltiness that didn't quite match the fruit. The peach inside was soft, sweet, and delicious, even with the skin. The warabi mochi was very soft and tasty, but the kinako powder had absorbed a smell from the fridge, which was disappointing. The chestnut yokan was decent. If the kinako issue is fixed, I might consider getting the warabi mochi again, but overall...hmm.

(・ω・) I'm Uzumasa Futaba. I searched on Tabelog for something to eat since I was close by for work, and came across Uzumasa Futaba. I wonder if it's related to Demachi Futaba? They had bean daifuku, and I was recommended their cold agar jelly with sweet red beans. The bean daifuku had large beans from Tanba and a nice touch of salt. The mochi was soft and delicious. It was just as good as Demachi Futaba. I haven't tried the cold agar jelly yet, so I'll add another review later. Thank you for the meal.

When strawberry season comes around, it's a tradition for me to go and buy the "Ichigo Daifuku" from Uzumasa Futaba. I often buy it as a snack or as a gift, but this was my first post. I apologize for posting this late. They have two types of Ichigo Daifuku, one with white bean paste and the other with chunky bean paste, and both are incredibly delicious. They use carefully selected sweet strawberries, and the balance of sweetness with the bean paste is exquisite! I always think it's amazing. This time, I bought the Ichigo Daifuku with chunky bean paste and the Daifuku with Tanba black beans. They are small, so you can have two at once. The perfect amount of salt in the Tanba black beans is really delicious. Paired with the not-too-sweet chunky bean paste, it makes me feel happy and satisfied. The shop is close to a filming location, so celebrities often come to buy from there, and it has been featured on TV, but even without all that hype, it's really delicious. I highly recommend it.

Uzumasa Futaba KUMA Survey (Daily Use) (100: Excellent 80: Very Good 60: Good 50: Pass 40: Just Pass) (Taste: 60%: Others 40%) ■ Overall Rating 60 points Best Daifuku! A representative wagashi shop in Uzumasa! I bought a light breakfast at "Uzumasa Futaba" on the way to Toei's movie village. (Having breakfast alone on a bench at the movie village (laughs)) It seems unrelated to Futaba in Demachiyanagi, but this was also a reasonably delicious daifuku shop. I enjoyed the Danba black bean (daifuku), chestnut daifuku, and chestnut okowa. If you like daifuku, it's worth trying the taste if you come nearby. ■ Use Scene Takeout only ■ Store/Service □ Store/Interior/Cleanliness It seems to be open from 8:15 in the morning. The store is for takeout only. It is located on the way from Uzumasa Station to the movie village, so it's easy to find. ■ Purchased Items □ Chestnut Okowa ¥630 □ Danba Black Bean ¥160 □ Chestnut Daifuku ¥230 ■ Taste Rating 60 points □ Chestnut Okowa It was a normal chestnut okowa. The chestnut was sweet and very delicious. □ Danba Black Bean There were several black beans inside the mochi, which was a nice touch. The anko inside was smooth and had a modern sweetness, making it delicious. □ Chestnut Daifuku One whole small chestnut is inside. The chestnut is sweeter and more delicious than the anko, making it an excellent product. ■ Cost Performance 60 points Daifuku items have good taste, so the cost performance is decent. The chestnut okowa may be on the cheaper side among the okowa offered by wagashi shops.

I visited this shop on my way back from the super sento in Uzumasa. It was my first time posting, although I have visited several times. I saw on TV that the famous Futaba Mochi in Kyoto was trained at this shop. The shop is located in front of the entrance to the movie village studio. Inside the shop, there are lots of photos of actors. It's not a very big shop. There were no Daifuku with beans on previous visits, but they were available today, so I bought them. I also bought Warabi Mochi. The Warabi Mochi here is different, with Warabi Mochi on a stick (bamboo?) sprinkled with soybean flour. My grandchildren, who love Warabi Mochi, were delighted. The Daifuku (bean cake) is a bit firm, but the balance of beans, sweet bean paste, and mochi is superb. I also had strawberry Daifuku before, and the sourness of the strawberries and the sweetness of the bean paste matched well and were delicious. This shop seems to be an old established one and had a nice atmosphere.

On May 2, 2019, I decided to go to a movie village instead of buying toys for Children's Day, as my daughter scolded me for buying toys. It was said that there would be a Kamen Rider show on weekends and holidays, about a 5-minute walk from JR Uzumasa Station. On the way, I found a sign for Futaba, which is famous for its bean daifuku. Is this a branch of Demachi Futaba, known for its bean daifuku? Let's buy some snacks to bring along. When I entered the store, there were beautiful Japanese sweets lined up. The beans in the bean daifuku seemed big, right? The strawberry daifuku had both white and red bean paste options, priced at 220 yen. I chose the white bean paste. My grandchild wanted to eat three-color dango. Let's also have some warabi mochi for 160 yen, black bean daifuku for 160 yen, and kashiwa mochi. Another customer was asking if there was a connection between this Futaba store and Demachi Futaba. It seems they used to be the same. Maybe they split up? After watching the Kamen Rider show at the movie village, we planned to have a meal, but all the restaurants had long lines. So, we satisfied our hunger with the Japanese sweets we bought. It was a good decision to buy them (laughs). The fluffy daifuku was soft and delicious, with a refined bean paste. As for the others... while I was looking for a restaurant, my husband and grandchild ate them all. I wish I had eaten one more. Due to the crowded situation, we decided to go home, and I couldn't eat anything until we got back home. If I had known, I should have bought more (laughs).

After returning from Arashiyama and taking the Randen train to the studio in front of the shooting location, there is a famous mochi shop called "Uzumasa Futaba" here. In Kyoto, there are several wagashi shops that go by the name "Futaba" and the most famous one is the Demachi Futaba in Demachiyanagi, so I asked if there was any connection, but it seems there is no direct link. Due to the proximity to the movie village, the walls of the shop are covered with photos of actors, giving it a sense of history. There is a sign inside the shop prohibiting photography, so I could only take pictures outside. I tried the "Mame Daifuku" (160 yen) which is different from the one at Demachi Futaba. The mochi here is softer and stickier compared to the slightly firmer and more elastic mochi at Demachi Futaba. The harmony with the sweet bean paste is higher at Uzumasa Futaba, but those used to the firmness of Demachi Futaba's mochi may find it a bit lacking. However, for those who prefer soft mochi, this one may be more suitable. The beans themselves are large and stand out more due to the soft texture. The saltiness is subtle, but the overall taste is gentle and pleasant. I also bought the "Fruit Daifuku" (180-220 yen) with four varieties: strawberry, Dekopon mandarin orange, Kiwi mix, and fresh pineapple. They put a sticker on the outside of the package to indicate which is which, showing their business acumen. The fruits used are fresh and effectively complement the soft mochi, appealing to the taste buds. The pineapple, in particular, is very sweet and easy to eat, likely to appeal to a wide range of people. Overall, the shop's expertise in making delicious mochi is evident, despite the slightly quiet atmosphere of the movie village. Personally, I preferred the Fruit Daifuku over the Mame Daifuku. Even if you don't have a reason to visit the movie village, you may have the opportunity to stop by here on your way back from the famous Arashiyama area via the Randen train. Why not make a detour and try it out? Thank you for the meal.

I visited a traditional Japanese confectionery shop in Kyoto, located across from Toei Uzumasa Studios. Although I'm not a fan of sweet treats, the red bean daifuku I tried was exceptional. It had the perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness, making it delicious.

I bought some sweet bean paste rice cakes for my home. The mochi skin and paste have just the right amount of sweetness, and the astringency of the Tanba black beans is really delicious. I will definitely buy them again!

Famous bean daifuku. There weren't many options. It's small. The mochi is thick. The sweet bean paste isn't too sweet. The salt isn't too strong. The beans are a bit firm. I think it was 130 yen. It's in a hard-to-find residential area, so I had to search for it. It's not related to Demachi Futaba, that's for sure. It's definitely different.

I went to this restaurant after seeing it on TV. The master of the famous "Demachi Futaba" in Kawaramachi is also associated with this place, which was featured on television. The restaurant is located about 4-5 minutes from JR Uzumasa Station, near the Kyoto Uzumasa Film Studio. It's a small shop with a wide variety of delicious-looking items. I tried a mochi with sweet bean paste on the spot and it was delicious. The mochi here seems to be a bit chewier than the one from Demachi Futaba. This mochi is often used in movies filmed at Toei Studios nearby. Japanese sweets are really delicious. When I got home, I had a strawberry-filled mochi with Amaou strawberries. Amaou strawberries are incredibly delicious and perfectly balance with the mochi.

On December 30, 2015 (Wednesday), I visited a local gourmet tour called "Mizuki Shigeru Road and Chugoku Region Castle Tour" from December 25, 2015 (Friday) to December 30, 2015 (Wednesday), for 5 nights and 6 days. This tour, using the Seishun 18 ticket, covered Fukui Prefecture, Hyogo Prefecture, Tottori Prefecture, Shimane Prefecture, Okayama Prefecture, Hiroshima Prefecture, and Yamaguchi Prefecture, allowing us to enjoy local gourmet food while visiting places like the Atsuta Red Brick Warehouse, Kinosaki Onsen, Aoyama Gosho Furusato Kan, Mizuki Shigeru Memorial Hall, Iwami Ginzan, Matsue Castle, Himeji Castle, Iwakuni Castle, Kintai Bridge, Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, Kurabo Memorial Hall, and Toei Uzumasa Eigamura. On this day, we visited Toei Uzumasa Eigamura, where we enjoyed a show that was worth the entrance fee of 2,200 yen. The show at the Location Studio explained the filming process and included sword-fighting scenes that were entertaining and humorous. The Clash! Ninja Show Sasuke incorporated projection mapping, while the Chanbara Tsujishinan was a show where children and actors performed sword-fighting. The Omoshirogaku Terakoya was an interactive experience where children could feel the weight of a sword and a coin box, as well as try their hand at striking a firestone. After enjoying Toei Uzumasa Eigamura, we stopped by "Futaba Kado An" and ordered a Mame Daifuku for 130 yen (tax included). This Mame Daifuku had some whole beans left intentionally, allowing us to taste the firmness and bitterness of the beans, which harmonized beautifully with the sweetness of the red bean paste. We then moved from Uzumasa Station to Kyoto Station and headed to "Honke Daiichi Asahi Takabashi Honten."

"Mito Kōmon 'Ukkari Hachibē' Dango Shop (lol)" is not really a dango shop, but a proper Japanese confectionery shop. It is located near the local area of Uzumasa Katabira-no-Tsuji, right next to the Toei Kyoto Studio, which is also known as the Toei Kyoto Film Studio. Many people may have visited the Toei Kyoto Studio, known as the Toei Kyoto Movie Village. In this area, there is a main gate to the Toei Kyoto Studio, where security guards prevent easy entry. My inner fanboy spirit was nurtured in this place, and I have even sneaked in incognito. I have also been an extra in some productions, although I won't reveal which ones. Many of the traditional Japanese sweets seen in movies and TV dramas filmed at the studio are actually made by this shop. Visit Circumstances: Just running errands in the neighborhood (lol), only a 4-5 minute walk from my house. Despite visiting for the first time, I have only entered the shop about three times. The first visit was about 10 years ago, and the most recent one was fairly recent. (I have probably eaten their sweets over 30 times.) Items Purchased and Prices: "Mame Daifuku" (6 pieces for 780 yen) and "Osekihan" (1 pack for 480 yen). 1. Key points about the shop: - A Japanese confectionery shop favored by the Toei Kyoto Studio. - Offers seasonal fruit daifuku and traditional Japanese sweets. - The famous "Kisaburō Monaka" used in period dramas to hide bribes, and "Imo Yokan" have won awards as traditional Japanese sweets. 2. Taste impressions: - The "Mame Daifuku" is different from the "Mame Mochi" at Demachi Futaba, although they look similar. The sweetness of the bean paste lingers, giving it a rich and satisfying taste. It's delicious in a straightforward way, with a chewy texture. - The "Osekihan" is surprisingly delicious. Depending on the storage conditions, the shop's Osekihan feels like each grain stands out individually with its own flavor. There was also Osekihan with chestnuts for the season. - The second generation has expanded the variety of daifuku. These are also seasonal items. The upcoming season will feature "Nashi Daifuku." While strawberry daifuku is common, they also offer banana daifuku, chocolate banana daifuku, kiwi daifuku, grape daifuku, and fresh pineapple daifuku, among others, according to the season. 3. Service impressions: - The service was friendly and welcoming, although I can't elaborate much. - I appreciate the service of displaying various daifuku with each new shipment. I also highly value their history of struggling to meet Toei's demands. 4. Atmosphere of the shop: - It feels somewhat isolated between the film studio and residential areas. Since the second generation, the atmosphere has become somewhat more vibrant. 5. Value for money: - The Mame Daifuku is reasonably priced considering its filling nature. The other items also seem fairly priced. 6. Miscellaneous: - The film town of Uzumasa has changed a lot since I lived there, which may be partly due to the opening of JR Uzumasa Station. I remember going past a public bath called "Juyu" in this direction. - I have sneaked into the Shochiku studio more often than Toei's. This was back when there was a bowling alley. I even worked at a cafe on the Daiei Street where I served some film industry people and celebrities. There were even instances of ninjas sneaking into the shop. - It will be interesting to see how the film town of Uzumasa develops in the future.
