My mother suggested having tea in a place that feels Kyoto-esque since we came all the way to Kyoto. I wonder where would be good. I heard Arashiyama is crowded, so I'm hesitating. Kyoto is hotter than Osaka due to being in a basin. We traveled around various famous spots from the car window, feeling like we're on a trip. Oh, I wanted to visit this place. My mother said she'd like it if they had shaved ice. You enter the store by taking off your shoes, but there are tables and chairs in the tatami room. It's convenient for my mother who has weak legs. But the chairs are like floor chairs, so regular tables would be better for people with weak legs. We found shaved ice. I ordered Uji Kinmokusei and Kyoto Matcha parfait. Relaxing while gazing at the small garden. The Kyoto Matcha parfait had matcha ice cream, matcha agar jelly, sweet chestnuts, and white rice dumplings, with vanilla ice cream and crushed rice crackers at the bottom. It was delicious, served in a Kiyomizu-yaki bowl. There is a separate entrance for souvenir sales. The staff were very kind and had lovely smiles. My mother decided to buy some souvenirs. Then thunder rumbled. I'm afraid of thunder, so I told my mother I'll go get the car first. The staff also mentioned that there was a thunderstorm warning today, so it's better to leave early. My mother insisted she was fine. We bought Kyoto roasted mochi to compare and reminisced about it. Since Tanabata had passed, we got goldfish-shaped yokan instead of Tanabata yokan. After that, we hurried to the highway due to a heavy thunderstorm. But once we got on the highway, it seemed like the heavy rain was only in Kyoto. The usual chaotic trip as always.

Every year, I used to order or have my friends send me "Amanogawa" from Shichijo Kanshundo, and I was surprised to find it in Fukuoka! It was being sold at an unexpected store, DEAN & DELUCA, and it seemed to be limited in quantity as there were only a few left when I went. I wish my camera skills could do justice to how beautiful it is, with blue agar jelly adorned with silver leaf, sparkling in real life! Fukuoka is unfortunately experiencing thunderstorms today, but at least I can enjoy a Tanabata tea time with chilled matcha and yokan. Both the agar jelly and yokan have a refined sweetness and are delicious. I'm satisfied that I could buy my favorite Japanese sweets in Fukuoka. I hope they will be available for sale in Fukuoka every year. I will visit again. Thank you for the treat!

I often pass by this shop, but it's a bit pricey for just a snack. However, this time I happened to find a half-size matcha Mont Blanc on sale with a red tag because it was close to the expiration date. It had plenty of chestnut yokan, marron glace, and matcha-flavored bean paste on top, giving it a rich appearance. But when I tasted it, the sweetness was elegant and not too heavy. The flavors blended well together, showing the skill of a traditional Japanese sweets shop. I hope to find another great deal like this again.

I found this at a department store's famous sweets selection, so I decided to buy it. "Shichijo Kanshundo" is known for their traditional Japanese confectionery. Their summer limited edition "Amanogawa" is very popular with its beautiful blue color, but this time I will write about my thoughts on their chestnut manju. ⭐️Chestnut Manju It is a large chestnut manju. Just the fact that it's big gets me excited. As for the taste...the white bean paste has a perfect sweetness and is delicious! The top part of the manju has thick dough. The dough also has a nice aroma. I think it would be even better if there were more chestnuts inside. Thank you for the meal.

Before going to Sanjusangendo temple♪♪ Summer limited edition from 6/1 to 8/31♦︎ Kyoto Yokan "Milky Way" and Matcha set. This set features a deep blue amber yokan with silver foil stars scattered, creating an image of a night sky shimmering with stardust (˶ᐢᗜᐢ˶). It has a light and refreshing taste perfect for summer♪ Very delicious♪ When visiting temples, it's hard not to be drawn to matcha and traditional sweets, right?☘️✧︎*。Satisfying and delightful(๑ˇεˇ๑)•*¨*•.¸¸♪

On Saturday at 12:00, I was passing by Nanao Kan Shundo main store and couldn't resist going in. Although there was a café next door, I was too full to eat anything, so I got some items to go. I bought "Haru no Yama" for 486 yen, "Ochacha Mochi" for 864 yen, and a paper bag for 33 yen. Just looking at spring-themed sweets makes my heart feel satisfied. I bought them as souvenirs for my family, and my kids really enjoyed them. I'll definitely visit again. Thank you for the delicious treats.

Matcha season has arrived, which I absolutely love! I found some at the Hankyu Umeda department store basement, and I couldn't resist buying it. The expiration date is until June 1st, which is nice and long. I usually don't eat traditional Japanese sweets, but I can never resist matcha. There were many other items that caught my eye, so I plan to visit again soon. ♥️

This is a slightly expensive kashiwa mochi, with one piece costing 378 yen. The white mochi had smooth red bean paste, while the yomogi mochi had chunky red bean paste. They were undeniably delicious. During this season, kashiwa mochi is the main attraction, fitting for being conscious of the season. By the way, the kashiwa mochi leaves are not edible, but I heard they have antibacterial properties.

I chose one Japanese sweet to enjoy with matcha tea. Among the beautiful selection of sweets, I decided on one that evoked the footsteps of spring. When I split it in half with my hands, a beautiful smooth red bean paste peeked out. It had a light and smooth texture, not too sweet, and was very delicious. Thank you for the meal.

On December 31, 2022, I visited Sanjusangendo at 12:33 and enjoyed viewing the Senju Kannon statue slowly until 14:14 when I left. I then quickly moved to a place I had my eye on from the parking lot, "Shichijo Kanshundo." My wife and second son were taking their time coming! I entered the restaurant at 14:28 and ordered the "Kamaage Udon Set" for 1,100 yen. The atmosphere inside was nice, but I felt a bit cold and the taste of the food was a bit lacking. The service was a bit rough as well. The total cost for three people was 2,980 yen. This is my memo from Sanjusangendo.

☆A casual lunch trip with my wife! [Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City]‼️⇒ They have been selling very beautiful sweets that change with the seasons, like yokan or uirou. I love the appearance of these sweets♪ - There is no parking available. $ Order! *"Kirameki (Half)" 723 yen (tax included) ... 3.5: The autumn version is available now. I love the balance of colors with the green clear appearance, gold dust, and red bean paste. I could stare at it forever, examining it from different angles. Taste-wise, it has a normal agar texture, but it's good. *"Matcha Mont Blanc (Half)" 756 yen ... 3.8: It crumbles in your mouth, which is nice! It's different from the usual yokan, being firm. The balance of matcha, chestnut, and red bean paste is good, not too sweet, but still capturing the essence of Japanese flavors. Nice! *"Kyoto Mizu (Azuki Tofu)" 972 yen ... 3.9: I love this one. Although the plate is shown cut into quarters, I could easily devour the whole thing by myself. It has a subtle sweetness with a refreshing taste of kudzu. The texture is perfect, not too firm or too soft. I might get addicted to this one♪ *"Grilled Chestnut" 216 yen ... 3.0: Hmm. Honestly, the taste is good, but I wished I could taste more of the chestnut flavor or crushed chestnuts. It felt a bit lacking. It could have been even more delicious, so it's a bit disappointing. Closing thoughts: - The "Shunkashuutou" series here is always beautiful. The prices are a bit high, typical of a long-established Kyoto store, but you can't go wrong with the appearance and taste. They also have sweets in bowls that you can enjoy entirely.♪ - I always appreciate your "likes," "saving the restaurant," and "following." Your comments and questions would make me very happy♪ - Thank you all for your continued support.

I was so impressed by the wagashi (traditional Japanese sweets) I had at Yoshiihashi during my recent trip to Kanazawa that I was determined to try some in Kyoto as well. However, I found it difficult to get a reservation in advance or the shops were closed when I tried to visit. So, I decided to try some near my hotel here. It was delicious, although not as good as Yoshiihashi. I will try harder next time. The tea was also very tasty.

Kyoto Yōkan, "Milky Way" limited edition available until the end of August. A deep blue amber yōkan with silver foil stars scattered throughout, creating an image of a night sky shimmering with stardust, inspired by the world of Tanabata. The yōkan is made up of two layers: a rich amber layer on top and a layer of sweet red bean paste and chestnuts underneath. This year, it was my first time buying it for the Bon Festival... and I'm glad I did. It has a subtly sweet and elegant taste, not just a visually appealing sweet. It's a great gift as it's enjoyable both in appearance and taste. It's delicious when chilled. I would definitely purchase it again if given the chance.

♡[Nanajo Kanshundo Main Store]♡ Kyoto ❤️ Nanajo ♡ Cream Anmitsu ¥1100 ♡ First of all, the sign at the entrance of "Kyosakissa" caught my attention! Its meaning originates from Zen Buddhism and is used in the world of tea. In Japanese, it can be read as "Kakuzukushite cha wo kisseyo" or "Please sit and enjoy your tea." The meaning is ordinary, but with such an elegant sign on the wall, it makes you feel like you need to sit up straight! I decided to order the Cream Anmitsu from the menu...♡ The flavor of the red beans was strong, with just the right amount of sugar for a refined sweetness! (I was surprised by how each red bean was firm yet soft!) I was delighted when they brought the tea in a teapot. The atmosphere of the shop was quiet and relaxing ༘♡ Nearby is the famous Sanjusangendo temple, making it a perfect place for a break during a stroll. Definitely worth a visit! ♡ Name: Nanajo Kanshundo Main Store Reservation: Not available Access: 4-minute walk from Keihan Electric Railway Keihan Main Line "Nanajo Station" Approximately 10 minutes by Kyoto City Bus 100, 206, 208 from JR Kyoto Station, get off at the bus stop "Hakubutsukan Sanjusangendo-mae" and walk 2 minutes from there 281m from Nanajo Station Business hours: 10:00-18:00 (Last order 17:30) Closed: No regular holidays ♡#NanajoKanshundo #KyotoGourmet #KyotoCafe #NanajoCafe #NanajoGourmet #Anmitsu #OsakaTravel #WantToConnectWithPeopleWhoLoveDeliciousFood #WantToConnectWithFoodies♡

I went to visit the Twenty-eight Attendants of Sanjusangendo for the first time in a while, and on the way back, I was suddenly caught in a heavy rain. I hurriedly ran into the Nijo Kanjun Do Honpo main store cafe across the street. It was a Friday afternoon, and after taking off my shoes at the entrance, I was led into a tatami room (cafe) with a few low tables and sitting cushions. I finally relaxed and took a breath. I ordered the following items: - Sweet set meal ¥1,540 (for my companion) - Matcha shaved ice ¥990 The sweet set meal included kudzu starch slices, white rice cake with sweet red beans, a seasonal Japanese sweet (this month was hydrangea-themed), and matcha tea. It had been a while since I visited "Kagiya Ryobo" and Kamakura's "Minowa," both of which were closed for a while due to various reasons, so it was a nice treat to have kudzu starch slices again. I enjoyed a refreshing summer time before the peak of summer. After finishing our meal, we went to the adjacent shop and found cute goldfish-shaped yokan, which we bought as a souvenir to bring the summer vibe back to Tokyo. When we left the shop, the rain had miraculously stopped, making it a mysterious afternoon guided by the rain.

I purchased these at the Kyoto local products exhibition. Although there are other traditional Japanese confectionery shops at the exhibition, I always find myself buying from this shop (laughs). It must be my preference. I bought some steamed buns as well as a limited edition sweet bean jelly this time. The sweet bean jelly had a beautiful Milky Way silver foil shining brightly on the blue agar. The sweet bean paste was soft and delicious, similar to my favorite Kaneshoju-an's sweet bean paste. It was a delicious sweet bean jelly that was pleasing to both the eyes and the taste buds.

Get off at the Horikawa Sanjusangendo bus stop on the Kyoto City Bus, and you'll find our shop right there. Established in 1865, we are a long-standing traditional Japanese confectionery shop in Kyoto. Our signature sweet is the "Kyoto Mizumizu," a red bean tofu priced at 864 yen including tax. Although we have a branch in the basement of JR Kyoto Isetan, this particular confection requires advance reservation and it's hard to find the right timing, so I decided to go directly to the main store. You can purchase this confection without reservation at the main store. The taste is similar to Mizuyokan, but even more refreshing, soft, and with a mild sweetness. It's a delight for those with a sweet tooth. I am impressed by the inherited techniques that have been passed down through generations. The atmosphere of the main store, with its historical charm, is also nice. It seems like you can also eat in, so I would like to visit at a leisurely pace next time.

On my wife's birthday trip to Kyoto, we visited the Toyokuni Shrine and then did some shopping here. Cherry Blossom Mochi: 248 yen, about 35mm in diameter and 20mm in height. The mochi has a chewy texture made from glutinous rice, with smooth and sharp sweet red bean paste inside. It tastes delicious with the salty pickled cherry leaf. Shelf life is three days including the purchase date. Uguisu Mochi: 248 yen, about 40x25mm in size and 20mm in height. Rugby ball-shaped mochi coated with green powder, filled with red bean paste with a slight grainy texture from the beans. It has a sweet taste from the beans and red bean paste. Shelf life is three days including the purchase date. Coffee Jelly Hanayokan [half box]: 756 yen, about 40x35mm in size and slightly over 20mm thick. A refined coffee-scented yokan with a combination of normal jelly and coffee jelly. The jelly has a firm texture, while the yokan has a smooth texture with a perfect balance of bitterness and sweetness. Shelf life is about three weeks. Cherry Blossom Mochi Yokan [half box]: 648 yen, about 40x35mm in size and 20mm thick. A yokan with a subtle cherry blossom salty aroma, topped with beautiful agar jelly and filled with cherry blossom-flavored yokan with a hint of salt. The agar jelly has a bouncy texture, making it visually appealing and delicious. Shelf life is about a month.

Kyoto is a traditional Japanese confectionery shop located near Sanjusangendo Temple. They offer visually appealing sweets made only with sugar, such as Kinpaitou. I purchased a set of Kinpaitou this time, and each piece pairs perfectly with rich matcha or hojicha. It's a delightful treat that makes you want to keep coming back for more. Looking forward to visiting again for my next souvenir purchase!

Before going to the Kyoto National Museum, I planned to do some research on the souvenirs to buy at Amashundo. However, since the sweets were meant to be kept at room temperature, I decided to buy them first and store them in a locker at the museum along with my other belongings. To my surprise, I found roasted mochi (rice cake) at the shop. It was the first time I saw roasted mochi outside of the 1000-year-old, 400-year-old store near Imamiya Shrine. Moreover, it was a souvenir that could last for a while. Despite being far from Imamiya Shrine, I decided to buy it and offer it at my home altar for a while. I finally tried it on a day when I ran out of fresh sweets. The roasted mochi came in a pack of 10 pieces on bamboo skewers, along with a separate pack of white miso-based sauce. Contrary to my expectation of heating it up, the mochi was soft at room temperature due to the sugar content, and it was meant to be enjoyed with the miso sauce as is. While I couldn't help but compare it to the original one from Imamiya Shrine, the roasted flavor from the burnt mochi and the generous portion made it an interesting souvenir in its own right. Surprisingly, it was quite good and I would recommend it as a unique souvenir. The cost was 864 yen (tax included).
