I was invited by a gourmet friend to visit this restaurant, which is located inside Yasaka Shrine. It opens at 10:30 am, and since I arrived a few minutes early, I had to wait for the opening. I heard that they serve lunch from the morning, but lunchtime starts at 11 am, so I ended up getting the Morning Mix Sandwich. The mix sandwich (with drink) costs ¥800 (tax included). I sat at a table by the window, which offered a nice view of the outside scenery. The mix sandwich and the coffee were both very ordinary in taste. Thank you for the meal. After this, I went to Gion Higashi to see a Yoshimoto show, but I started feeling hungry on the way. I wanted to have lunch, so I would like to visit this restaurant again.

"I visit this restaurant to enjoy their sakura ice cream every year during cherry blossom season. The restaurant, Kaika-tei, is located in a prime spot in Maruyama Park, with a terrace where you can admire the famous weeping cherry blossoms. The sakura ice cream has a unique taste and texture, reminiscent of sakura mochi. It always reminds me that spring has arrived. Having something to look forward to every year, regardless of financial status, makes me feel rich in spirit."

On a cold day with snow falling gently, I had some errands to run and ended up near Yasaka Shrine after a long time. I sat in front of the famous weeping cherry blossoms in Maruyama Park (or beside them?). Normally, this place would be filled with foreign tourists and visitors, but it was surprisingly calm today. The interior of the restaurant was more spacious and relaxing than it appeared from the outside. There were plenty of seats by the window, allowing me to enjoy the view outside while taking my time. Despite it being my first visit, I felt oddly comfortable. I liked the atmosphere a lot. I was tempted by the lunch menu displayed outside, but I opted for some light snacks and alcohol for later. The alcohol was a bit pricey, but the flight of potato fries and the assortment of three sausages were freshly cooked after ordering. They were served piping hot and nicely presented. Since they were served with chopsticks instead of a knife and fork, it was a bit tricky to eat the sausages. It would have been easier with a separate plate. Overall, I had a relaxing and peaceful time.

On November 1, 2017, I visited Kaikatei in Maruyama Park for lunch before the Jidai Matsuri festival. I ordered curry and it was delicious, I was very satisfied. I also had a beer, so I was in a happy mood. We all had different curries, so we could enjoy various tastes and flavors, killing three birds with one stone. Ah, it was so delicious. I want to come back again. Thank you for the meal. I will cherish all the ingredients in this world. I'm calling for delicious food♪ The more I eat, the more power overflows♪

"Momomomomomonge~!! Gion consecutive review 86th~!! Yay, heading to Kaikatei located in Maruyama Park~♪ The place is at 623 Gionmachi Kitagawa, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto... about a 12-minute walk from Keihan Gion-Shijo Station... right in front of the symbol of Maruyama Park, the weeping cherry blossom tree, where you can enjoy the full bloom view from inside the retro cafe-restaurant~♪ The interior has smoking allowed with a total of about 60 seats including counter and table seats~♪ Today's order... ■ 'Matcha Roll Cake Set' (850 yen)~♪ ■ 'Matcha Roll Cake Set' consists of 'Matcha Roll Cake' and 'Coffee'~♪ The 'Matcha Roll Cake' comes with 'red bean paste' and 'matcha powder' sprinkled on top of 'whipped cream'~♪ It's a 'matcha sponge' spread with a thin layer of 'red bean paste' and generously covered with 'whipped cream', rolled up... The taste is subtly fragrant with matcha, moist 'matcha sponge' with 'red bean paste' and 'whipped cream' blending together, not too sweet, just the right amount of sweetness... so delicious~♪ The 'Coffee' is served in a cup from a 'pot' kept warm (pre-made)... It's a hot 'Coffee' but since it's pre-made, you don't really get the aroma and flavor of freshly brewed 'Coffee'... It's just an ordinary 'Coffee'... Well, considering the location and the large number of customers, it's probably difficult to individually drip brew each cup... This place is right in front of the symbol of Maruyama Park, the weeping cherry blossom tree, a retro-chic cafe-restaurant where you can easily take a break when tired from the crowds during Kyoto sightseeing... The clientele is mostly elderly, seems to have many regular customers... The staff at Kaikatei always provide delicious food and offer kind service... Thank you for your hospitality~!! I'll definitely come back~♪ April 2017"

After seeing the weeping cherry blossoms at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, I took a leisurely walk and visited this old-fashioned cafe located right across from the weeping cherry blossoms at Maruyama Park in Kyoto. The cafe is surrounded by trees and has a retro atmosphere. The interior is quite spacious, and it feels calming to sit under the sunlight filtering through the trees on a sunny afternoon. We ordered: Matcha Anmitsu for ¥750, Black Tea for ¥500, and Mixed Juice for ¥650. We were lucky to get a seat with a view of the weeping cherry blossoms at Maruyama Park. While outside there were many people enjoying the cherry blossoms, this cafe had a relaxed and tranquil atmosphere. Most of the customers were elderly. The food and drinks were standard cafe fare and nothing too fancy. It's a good place for a break after enjoying cherry blossom viewing at Maruyama Park.

In Gion, Kyoto, there is a restaurant called Kaikatei located in Maruyama Park. It is a Western-style restaurant that also serves as a café. The atmosphere inside is calm with jazz music playing. You can also rent out the second floor for private parties. I ordered an iced green tea to cool off. It was sweet, so even if you don't like the bitterness of matcha, you can still enjoy the drink. The staff was friendly, and I was able to relax and enjoy my drink. Thank you so much!

It is spring. Speaking of spring, it's time for cherry blossom viewing. On a sunny day in March, KUMAO and his partner headed to Kyoto. They took the Kintetsu Limited Express and Keihan Electric Railway, first stopping at Okazaki. They strolled along the cherry blossom-lined canal, visiting Nanzenji Temple and the Philosopher's Path. The cherry blossoms were almost in full bloom, attracting large crowds everywhere. They took a bus to Gion, where the streets were crowded with people and cars. After visiting Yasaka Shrine, they went to Maruyama Park. There were many food stalls selling familiar items like takoyaki and okonomiyaki, as well as unique options like grilled bamboo shoots. In Maruyama Park, there was a large weeping cherry blossom tree on a small hill. Overwhelmed by its beauty, KUMAO and his partner decided it was time for some hanami sake. They bought cold beer from a nearby vendor and enjoyed it on a bench. As the sun set and the weeping cherry blossom tree was illuminated, they decided to spend more time in the park. However, they struggled to find a trash can for their empty beer cans, eventually discovering one near a vending machine on a street corner. After disposing of the cans, they returned to the park and sought refuge in a warm café. They ordered hot coffee and spent some time relaxing in the cozy atmosphere. When they left the café around 6:30 pm, they were greeted by the enchanting sight of the illuminated cherry blossoms in the twilight. Feeling rejuvenated by the beauty of the sakura, KUMAO and his partner headed home.

On May 4th during Golden Week, I explored Kyoto. I tried to go to a restaurant without a reservation, but it was full, so I had lunch at Hanatei in Maruyama Park. Hanatei is an old-fashioned Western-style restaurant with a classic interior and jazz music playing. The prices are very reasonable. I had the seasonal Kyoto vegetable curry (with mini salad and drink) for 1200 yen and the Kyoto shiba-zuke pilaf (with mini salad and drink) for 1200 yen. The pilaf had dried small fish and a light Japanese-style seasoning. After eating, I walked to Kodai-ji Temple, Ninen-zaka, passing through Yasaka Pagoda, and returned to Yasaka Shrine where the parking lot is located. Kodai-ji Temple was founded by Nene, the wife of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The temple is popular among visitors, especially with the beautiful weeping cherry blossoms in the garden. There is a mausoleum in the garden where Nene is said to be buried 2 meters underground. There are statues of Hideyoshi and Nene. Further up the hill, there is the Kasa-tei and Shigure-tei connected by a corridor, designed by Sen no Rikyu. From Kodai-ji Temple, I walked towards Kiyomizu Temple through Ninen-zaka, then down towards Yasaka Pagoda. I returned to Yasaka Shrine where the impressive Komainu statues are located in front of the West Ro-mon gate facing Higashiyama Street. I've been going to Kyoto quite often lately.

Located in front of the famous weeping cherry blossoms in Maruyama Park in Gion, Kyoto, is the renowned Western-style restaurant "Kaikatei." You can enjoy a meal while overlooking the greenery and cherry blossoms in the park from the classic interior of the restaurant. The photo shows homemade hand-kneaded hamburger and fish fry for 1,400 yen. The menu is extensive, featuring items such as the "hand-kneaded hamburger" series, the "classic Western-style restaurant" series with dishes like "fish fry" for 1,000 yen, "grilled chicken" for 1,200 yen, and "beef cutlet" for 2,000 yen. There is also the "nostalgic flavors" series with dishes like "shrimp pilaf" for 750 yen, "beef curry" for 750 yen, and "pork cutlet curry" for 1,000 yen. Additionally, there are many coffee shop menu options available. For us "B-class gourmet," the prices may be a bit on the higher side due to the location. It is also possible to make reservations for events such as alumni gatherings or wedding reception parties.

I visited a famous Western-style restaurant called "Kaika-tei" in front of the famous weeping cherry blossoms at Gion and Maruyama Park in Kyoto. I happened to find it while taking a walk in the park, and it was really delicious. The interior of the restaurant had a classic and nice atmosphere. The retro interior made it relaxing and comfortable. They had classic Western dishes like handmade hamburgers and shrimp fry, as well as nostalgic dishes like beef cutlets, all of which looked delicious. They have child seats, small plates, and children's menus. The pork ginger and shrimp cream croquette (1200 yen) were very delicious. I love Western-style restaurants!

When I was tired from walking in Maruyama Park, I happened to find a Western-style restaurant. Since I went just before closing time, there were no other customers in the restaurant, so I was able to enjoy my meal leisurely without feeling rushed. The hamburger steak is recommended. I ordered the "Hamburger Steak and Fried Shrimp." The hamburger steak was small but packed with plenty of minced meat (I think the amount of breadcrumbs used as a binder was minimal), and the meat juice oozed out deliciously. The fried shrimp was crispy and came in two pieces. I dipped them generously in the rich tartar sauce, and when I put them in my mouth, I heard a satisfying "crunch." If I have the chance to visit Kyoto again, I would definitely want to go back to this restaurant.

This is a shop located inside Maruyama Park. I visited during the Hanatoro event, so it was crowded, but the staff remained calm and worked efficiently. The customers were relaxed, and the wait for orders was not a problem. The lighting was just right, creating a relaxed atmosphere. The interior walls and design had calming materials and colors. The menu had options for "lunch" even at night. My husband ordered the mixed fry lunch, and I had the Western-style bento. The bento had a generous portion. Bento might be more suitable for men, and lunch for women. The taste was average, not exceptionally delicious, but satisfying. Considering the location, portion size, and taste, the prices were reasonable. The only downside was the small restroom. From a barrier-free perspective, with a large number of seats and only one staff member, it seems difficult for the shop to handle, so having a support person may be necessary due to the extensive menu.
