The rich soy milk hot pot with garlic is addictive. The lunch course comes with plenty of ingredients and side dishes, making it very cost-effective. In the Gion area of Kyoto, there is no other place where you can enjoy such a delicious lunch course for less than 3000 yen! We also enjoyed the room decorated with many sumo wrestlers' signatures and photos. The room had private rooms available, so we could relax comfortably. We went with children, and the staff's service was very polite, providing plenty of toys which made us very satisfied. It has become a restaurant that we definitely want to visit again.

I had the mini Chanko hot pot course for lunch. The sweet soy-based soup had more volume than I expected, with appetizers, rice, pickles, and even dessert. You can have unlimited rice and pickles, but be careful not to overeat because there is also noodles at the end. The staff was kind and took care of the hot pot the whole time. They even recommended a delicious Kyoto pickles spot and gave me a sumo ranking list as a souvenir when I left. I will definitely visit again when I go to Kyoto. Thank you very much!

This is a chanko-nabe restaurant opened by a former sumo wrestler. It is located inside Maruyama Park. The salt content is low, and the broth is light and gentle, so you can eat as much as you want! The customer service at the restaurant is also very good.

The flavor of the Tsukune (chicken meatball) is still as delicious as ever, it's exquisite. I feel like there used to be more Kujo Negi (green onion) in it before though.

Last night, we had our annual cherry blossom viewing party and once again we received great service from Ikoro-san. There were a total of 36 people, with some last-minute cancellations and additions, but Ikoro-san always handles it well. The food, including chanko-nabe, tsukune, negi shabu, udon, ramen, and dessert, was delicious as always. Despite the lively party and all the trouble we caused, we are grateful for the kind service. Thank you very much! (^∇^)

I am a timid person who gets excited just by hearing the name of the street...☆Gion☆. It's located near Maruyama Park, perfect for cherry blossom season. I tried "negi shabu shabu" for the first time. An old lady told me, "The negi here is the best for shabu shabu!" When I tried it, it wasn't bitter at all! In fact, it had a sweet and tender taste. The negi and cabbage were delicious, and the chicken, tsukune, and pork were all very filling. The udon at the end was beautiful and shiny, promising a smooth and enjoyable texture. The staff were all lovely people, and I had such a great time that I lost track of time.

The best chanko-nabe is made with dashi broth and chicken meatballs. Recently, it has become difficult to make reservations due to actively welcoming tourist groups. This hot pot also offers the option of adding Kamo green onions shabu-shabu in autumn, which is highly recommended. Another must-try option in autumn is the matsutake mushroom shabu-shabu. It is so delicious! To enjoy, carefully place each meatball into the boiling pot with a small spoon. Once it starts simmering, enjoy the Kamo green onions shabu-shabu. Add some sansho pepper or shichimi to suit your taste. This dish is absolutely amazing! Then, add chicken, shrimp, various vegetables, and finally pork to complete the chanko-nabe. For the finishing touch, try the zosui (rice porridge) or ramen. During New Year's, we always have this chanko-nabe delivered to our home to enjoy together.

The year-end party with business partners has become a tradition to be held here. The location has a nice atmosphere and it's easy to move to second or third locations afterwards. The food is chanko, which is neither too much nor too little, just right. It's delicious. The area gives off a Kyoto vibe and is good for entertaining in winter on a budget. The food is consistently good. However, for travelers, it may not matter as much. This seems like a place locals would go to. I didn't really feel a Kyoto-like essence in the food.

I always visit this chanko nabe restaurant in Yasaka at least once in winter. The soup and meatballs are incredibly delicious. On this day, I went with some friends after work. Lately, it's been hard to get a table without a reservation, so booking ahead is a must. Chanko nabe is filled with various ingredients like Kyoto vegetables, tofu, and fish cakes, so it's quite filling. The noise level can be a bit bothersome when large groups come in, but when it comes to chanko nabe, this place is the best. Thank you for the meal.

Autumn is coming, located in Maruyama Park, the location is excellent. I went with 5 work colleagues around 7:30 pm and it was my first time visiting, but you must make a reservation to be able to enter. It is a Kyushu-style restaurant with photos of famous sumo wrestlers on the walls. We were led upstairs to a bustling tatami room full of reserved guests. If there were sunken kotatsu tables, it would have been even more relaxing. Now, onto the food. The friendly mother figure efficiently served as the pot master, and we enjoyed a delicious hot pot. First, garlic-flavored chicken meatballs were added, followed by seasonal Kyushu matsutake mushrooms. The soup base with soy sauce was delicious, with the flavors of the meatballs slowly seeping out and the aroma of the mushrooms enveloping the taste. It was like a chanko version of a steamed clay pot dish, truly delicious! Next, Kyoto burdock root was added along with wheat gluten, Chinese cabbage, and chicken meatballs. The pot progressed as we listened to the mother's stories. The finishing zosui (rice porridge) was also perfect. This chanko hot pot is truly flavorful and highly recommended. I am grateful to the perfect pot master, the mother who served us.

In Maruyama Park, there is a chanko restaurant called Ikoro that my family is a big fan of. The minced meat and konjac in the chanko are popular with children, and you can enjoy a leisurely meal in a tatami room. I recommend adding grated garlic to the chanko broth for an even richer flavor.
