After leaving the "Fumiko Hayashi Memorial Museum," I am planning to head to Shinbashi to visit the Urasenke Shrine and get an amulet for Chichi's friend, Yosan, who is hospitalized. And of course, when in Shinbashi, I automatically think of "Barry Ogawaken." I wonder what they have today... - Banana Eclair 350 yen ☆5.0 First of all, the price! It's not convenience store price! But the taste is elegant. A subtle banana aroma. I could eat as many as I want (人´∀`).☆.。.:*・゚。 - Peach Pie 800 yen ☆5.0 Again, the amount of peach in this at this price! Amazing. And just like I mentioned with the strawberry pie, it seems like the pastry chef here is skilled with handling fruits. The peaches are perfectly ripe, not falling apart, so you can enjoy them together with the pie, making it even more delicious. - Iced Cafe Latte 600 yen ☆3.8 In short, the cakes at Ogawaken are like gentle Japanese cakes that you could eat every day. Ah, it was delicious. I took a detour, but I'm glad I came here after all. Truly, truly, thank you for the meal.

Shooting for a cafe in Shimbashi for the first time! This cafe may not be flashy, but it has a simple modern Parisian style and a nice Japanese staff with a good sense of taste. It was a cafe with a rich dessert menu. The points to note are: 1) Use is limited to 1 hour, 2) Keep conversations at a moderate volume. The latter might be for the entire building? (I saw it at other shops too.) It was tough to keep worrying about the volume while coming to a cafe with multiple people. I was even warned by the staff once (it wasn't a loud conversation like when young people get excited, just a normal conversation with a clear voice...) Everyone was chatting, but with the time limit, it felt disappointing. Maybe it's better to come alone next time? In terms of coffee shops in Shimbashi, it seems that retro coffee shops are lined up. Since the dessert lineup (including availability) varies depending on the shop, it's good to know some differences. Here, the eat-in and take-out shops are next to each other, and by around 4 pm, the cafe's desserts were almost sold out. (There were about 8 items on the menu) If there are any left on the take-out shelf next door, they can still serve it. ★Order: Blend 700 yen, Seasonal Fruit Roll 495 yen were both delicious! The blend had a depth of flavor without being too heavy, which I liked. The fruit roll had a small piece of three types of fruit + one strawberry. The fluffy and smooth sponge, with a lightly sweet cream that enhanced the sweetness and acidity of the fruit. Ah, sublime. Personally, I got really excited because the tableware was all Royal Copenhagen! My favorite high-end brand. The interior also had simple French paintings, making me feel like I was visiting Paris. Thank you for the meal!

After eating curry at Calical, I went up to the first floor and entered Ogawaken's cafe. The seating is limited, but it's more of a place to take a breather than to relax, so surprisingly the turnover is quick. I planned to have coffee and a raisin sandwich at this cafe, but since it wasn't on the menu, I ordered a roll cake instead. The iced coffee was described as having a bitterness because it's made with espresso and hot water, but the bitterness was just right and it's great to drink black. It's nice and rare to get such a strong flavor in an iced coffee. The roll cake was delicious with the richness of the whipped cream, the fluffy texture of the cake, and the aroma of eggs and butter.

The restaurant has 5 seats and can accommodate around 10 people. There is a 60-minute time limit and it is non-smoking, so the turnover is relatively good. I tried the cream puff and roll cake, and the roll cake was exceptional. The slightly firm sponge cake with a sweet taste paired well with the coffee. The coffee is brewed using a paper drip method and surprisingly delicious, with some customers ordering just the coffee.

On a Saturday afternoon, after enjoying a pleasant time at the soba restaurant "Notoji," I made my way back to Shinbashi station, trying to find shade along the way. Feeling like taking a break before heading home, I remembered about "Ogawaken" located on the first floor of the building across the station. This branch of Ogawaken in Meguro is known for its retro atmosphere, with various old-fashioned dining establishments inside the building, although some were closed on Saturdays, making it a bit quiet. I had always wanted to visit the "Honjin-bo" located inside the building, and today seemed like the perfect opportunity. The entrance to the building is connected to the station via an underground passage, and the interior of Ogawaken exudes a unique retro vibe. The shop is divided into a cake shop and a cafe, with a glass wall separating the two. I was seated promptly at a table in the cafe section and ordered the "Mango Pie" and an "Iced Tea." The pie was served on a Royal Copenhagen plate, featuring a crisp pastry base topped with diplomat cream, slices of mango, and a glaze. The pastry was light and crispy, the cream was delicately sweet, and the mango was fresh and flavorful. The iced tea was refreshing and perfectly balanced. Despite the short 20-minute stay, I had a peaceful and enjoyable time. Most customers were there to simply enjoy cake and tea, so the turnover was quick. It's a shame that the building, along with its nostalgic atmosphere, is set to be demolished soon due to redevelopment plans. I hope that some form of preservation can be achieved for this beloved spot in the Shinbashi area.

I always use this place for drinking, it is located on the first floor of the Shinbashi Station building. I had been wanting to try it out for non-alcoholic drinks, so I decided to visit this time. I chose a cake from the display case at the entrance, which ranged from 400 to 800 yen (the one in the picture was about 400 yen). I also ordered a hot coffee. The total came to 990 yen. I sat by the window, enjoying a quiet afternoon tea time while looking outside. It was a refreshing break for about 30 minutes, and I felt recharged both physically and mentally. Thank you for the meal.

I finally tried the seasonal peach pie! I had intended to try it last time I came, but I ended up forgetting about it... So this time, I made sure to come specifically for it. When I saw the menu, I thought it was a bit pricey at 880 yen. However, I mustered up the courage to order it. The peach wasn't too sweet, and it was delicately prepared to preserve the natural flavor. The cream inside added depth to the taste. Delicious. Yeah, I'll definitely come back to have it again next year!

Barry Ogawaken Salon de The Shinbashi Store @ Shinbashi ~ Summer Peach Pie I received feedback that the store information was incorrect and received a message from "Tabelog," so I am reposting. Before a meeting in Ginza, I stopped by "Excelsior Cafe" and tried a peach ice cake, which made me think that I could have peach pie at "Barry Ogawaken Shinbashi Store" when I return from Shinbashi. I came all the way here to try the "peach pie," an item that I would like to commercialize for our members or clients. When I arrived at the store, one group was leaving, and the veteran waiter (probably a chef) who always works alone said, "Please wait a moment." Well, it's been three years since the closure of Shinbashi Suisan Academy, and I don't visit Shinbashi often, so I don't expect him to remember me after a year... It's 4:20 pm, but there were still peach pies available. I ordered it with black tea. I mistakenly thought that the black tea at "Barry Ogawaken Shinbashi Store" was Assam, but it's actually Uva. Here comes the "peach pie." The moderate sweetness and acidity of the peach blend well with the cream and the aroma of the buttery pie crust. Ogawaken Roll: 330 yen Drip Coffee: 660 yen This place is located on the first floor of the One-Ope Shinbashi Station Building. I was feeling a bit hungry for lunch, so I ordered the cheapest option, which was a plain roll cake. The cream was actually good, not just some oil and sugar mix. I was a bit wary because it was so cheap, but it turned out fine. The coffee was also nothing special, probably a Brazilian blend. Overall, it was a decent meal. Thank you! 🍰☕️

In July 2023, I visited a tea salon located right next to the store that sells Ogawaken's raisin sandwiches. I ordered a Ogawaken roll cake for 330 yen and a coffee for 550 yen. The roll cake was surprisingly delicious, with a moist sponge cake and a subtly sweet cream. The coffee was also very tasty. The prices were very reasonable, and I could feel the dedication to quality in the items they served. I would love to visit again when I'm in Shinbashi. After leaving the tea salon, I also bought a raisin sandwich from the store next door.

Located on the first floor of the Shinbashi Ekimae Building, next to Paris Ogawaken, is the café section called Paris Ogawaken Salon de Thé. This was my first visit, arriving at 13:40 on a weekday. There were 7 customers inside and 5 waiting. I waited for 5 minutes before being seated. I ordered a strawberry shortcake for 660 yen and an iced Americano for 550 yen, bringing the total to 1210 yen. The strawberry shortcake had two strawberries on top and on each cross-section. The cream was made of fine, smooth whipped cream with a moderate sweetness. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I had an Americano and a slice of roll cake. The service was a bit rushed, maybe because they were busy. The cake was delicious, but it's more of a place to quickly grab a cake rather than a cozy cafe to relax in.

Located right in front of Shinbashi Station, so it's convenient to access right after getting off the train. Visited in the early afternoon and only had to wait for one person. Ordered a café latte for 660 yen and a Sachertorte for 495 yen. The interior of the cafe is small, so it's not ideal for long stays, but it's a nice place to take a break and relax for a bit!

After having lunch, I entered the restaurant around 1 pm. I was worried it might be crowded, but surprisingly it was quite empty with only a few groups of customers. I ordered a drip coffee and a strawberry shortcake. It turned out to be a surprisingly calm hidden gem in the bustling area of Shinbashi.

I visited after a long time for lunch. My favorite cake was still available, and I enjoyed it after a long time. It seems that more people are returning for lunch in April, and I spent a lively time in a bustling atmosphere. I will use this place again for time adjustment between meetings.

I visited Cafe Ogawaken on the first floor of the Shimbashi Ekimae Ichigokan Building, which is filled with a Showa-era atmosphere. Normally, I would have lunch at the neighboring Ponnufu when visiting the Shiodome Panasonic Museum of Art. However, today I decided to have a light brunch and then enjoy some tea after visiting the museum. I had been curious about Cafe Ogawaken for a while because the kanji for "Ogawaken" looked retro and stylish. The menu at this cafe was simple, offering only cakes and drinks. Since I arrived at 3:30 pm, there were limited cake options left. I chose the seasonal strawberry pie, which had custard cream inside the pie crust and jelly-covered strawberries on top. The custard cream was smooth and not too sweet, which I enjoyed. I also ordered an Americano coffee, which was a bit bitter for my taste. The set cost 1260 yen, which I thought was reasonable. The cafe was not very spacious, with only five two-person tables. The interior was refreshing, with Parisian-style sketches on the walls. I sat at a small table by the window since I was alone, and enjoyed watching the bustling street outside the station. The building was constructed in 1974, giving it a vintage charm that I appreciate. There are many dining options from the basement to the second floor of the building. As I walked around, I noticed a few bookstores where you can browse books, adding to the deep atmosphere of the area. I look forward to exploring those next time.

I revisited this cafe located on the 1st floor of Shinbashi Station Front Building 1. The hospitality was lacking from the moment I entered. I ordered the same items as last time: - Cafe Ice Americano @550 yen (tax included) - Ogawaken Roll @330 yen The Ice Americano was rich and delicious. The Ogawaken Roll had a fluffy cake with a fairly sweet custard and cream filling, and the price was reasonable. However, I was disappointed with the service this time compared to my last visit, so I gave a much lower rating. It's a shame. It seems cakes purchased from the neighboring "Ogawaken" cannot be enjoyed here. I sympathize. I probably won't be revisiting.

I visited around 2:15 on a weekday and there was one last seat available! This place is always crowded whenever you come. The age group is mostly older (in their 50s and 60s), with more housewives than salarymen, so it's always busy no matter what time you go. (By the way, I'm a housewife who skipped work to come here). The dishes and shiny silverware are all Royal Copenhagen, a typical selection for Ogawaken. It would also fit well in Okura Art China. I ordered a simple roll cake called "Ogawaken Roll," but my mouth slipped and I ended up ordering the "Strawberry Pie." There must be a demon lurking in this visual. Forgive me for cheating on the glossy red flashy one with the Ogawaken Roll. The pie has custard (or maybe diplomat cream), strawberries, and a simple composition that shines because of its textbook-like certainty. Although it's a classical shop, it's not a very relaxing atmosphere due to the chatty old ladies, but it's a valuable coffee shop near Shinbashi Station where you can enjoy a busy yet lively atmosphere.

After eating soup curry at Ganeshya, I wanted to spend some time around Shinbashi Station, so I searched for cafes near the station and found Ogawaken. I was surprised to see Ogawaken in a retro-style building called The Showa right in front of Shinbashi Station. The building had various restaurants and cafes, and Ogawaken was quite popular with some people waiting for seats. They had a cafe and a shop selling sweets, and I chose the cafe. They had both fresh and baked sweets, but their famous Raisin Witch was only available for purchase and not on the cafe menu. I was tempted by the shortcake and savarin, but since I was still somewhat full from the soup curry, I opted for the fruit cake. I sometimes crave fruit cake. I also ordered an iced cafe latte, which was frothy even though it was iced! If I have the chance to come back, I would like to try their fresh sweets next time.

Essayist Yataro Matsuura recommended this shop in his book, so I decided to try their Raisin Witch. I like that it also has almond slices on top. I wonder if it would be delicious to eat it chilled as well.
