This trip was all about walking around the city without cramming in sightseeing. Just wandering here and there. When I felt like taking a break, I spotted this café. It had a sign for Key Coffee. They had a cute café latte. The "Café Latte" costs 550 yen (including 10% tax). It's just a café latte with a stencil of Yasaka Pagoda, but these little details matter. I was impressed!

Good evening. I am a salaryman from Minato Ward. After having a meal at Kyoto Station, I headed to Toji Temple. I was able to enjoy the interior of the five-story pagoda, the treasure hall, and Kanchi-in, which was very nice. It was great to be able to see special things during Golden Week. I spent quite a bit of time admiring Toji Temple, not just the lecture hall and the main hall, so I headed towards the touristy Yasaka no To area. After continuing sightseeing, I took a break at this shop. This is one of the few places around here where you can take a casual break. The ice cream is rich in fruit juice with a moderate sweetness, suitable for adults. The coffee is okay.

The shop specializes in ice cream and lattes featuring the Yasaka Pagoda. The ice candy made with kudzu doesn't melt for about an hour, making it perfect for eating on the go! I carried it around in the heat, but it didn't melt at all and had a slightly chewy and mysterious texture. The latte art was cute too, I want to go back again! ☺︎

A café located right below Yasaka Pagoda in Kyoto. Ordered a cappuccino and matcha cappuccino. They drew a picture of the pagoda for a memorable photo. The taste was delicious as well. It was a nice café to take a break at.

I had a fruit-filled ice cream and coffee! It was a perfect break after walking around in a yukata. The ice cream had a cute temple illustration drawn with cocoa powder and was delicious. I want to go back again! ❤️

After visiting the colorful monkey decorations at Yasaka Koshindo, I decided to take a break at Keys Cafe Kyoto Yasaka no To. I ordered an Evian Anchovy Dog and a cappuccino at the counter before sitting at a table near the entrance. There were many young girls wearing kimonos around here. While looking around, my order was ready. The cappuccino was beautifully decorated, and the Evian Anchovy Dog had a crispy surface with cut shrimp inside. It was delicious with the mayonnaise and anchovy saltiness.

I stopped by another cafe as I was feeling a bit peckish. I had a shrimp and anchovy hot dog with a cappuccino, while my niece enjoyed a latte with a lovely latte art of Yasaka Pagoda. The hot dog was delicious, with a crispy bun. The prices were reasonable for this area, and the staff were friendly. It was a cozy cafe where I would definitely like to visit again for a break.

After leaving the ryotei in Kiyamachi, cross the Danguri Bridge and head towards Gion. There were many foreign tourists, so I quickly passed through and walked past Kennin-ji Temple to Toribeno (Rokudo no Tsuji). In the past, this area gave me the impression of being hot and dry in the summer with few people, and during the Gion Festival, it had a slightly eerie atmosphere that was just right, almost like ghosts could appear. However, it seems that this area has also appeared in anime, so surprisingly it was crowded with tourists. From there, head towards Gojo-zaka and climb the slope to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. By this point, I was quite tired. I regretted my lack of exercise while heading towards Sanneizaka, and I wanted to take a break at a cafe in this area, but the cafes in this shopping street close early and there are no vending machines for the preservation of the scenery. I continued walking to Hokan-ji Temple, and discovered a coffee shop with a sign on the left side. I entered the shop with relief as the air conditioning was working well. Although it was a fast food-like shop, they had a proper coffee machine and I was able to enjoy a delicious cup of coffee. The ice candy was a bit expensive, but it had a rich flavor and was delicious. There are few cafes in this area considering the number of tourists, so I was very grateful for this kind of shop.

There was a lovely café at the foot of Yasaka Pagoda called "KEY'SCAFE Yasaka Pagoda Store". The café had a terrace seat with a splendid view. It used to be a private house before. When asked, the owner said, "This used to be my family home, but we renovated the first floor and turned it into a café. We didn't realize the potential of this place before. I was inexperienced in running a café, but many people helped me during the renovation." The owner had a modest and kind demeanor. I ordered the Shrimp and Anchovy Dog (480 yen) and an Iced Café Latte (400 yen). The café latte made with illy coffee was delicious! They offer power outlets and Wi-Fi, which I appreciate. The homemade feel of the café is charming! This café has a lot of potential for growth. It will surely become even more wonderful with the ideas of various people. I hope it becomes a place where wonderful people gather. If you are visiting Kyoto, be sure to stop by this café! KEY'SCAFE Kyoto Yasaka Pagoda Store is located at 388 Kinen-cho, 4-chome, Shimokawara-dori, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture.

Located right in the heart of a tourist spot, this cafe is on the west side of Hokanji Temple, near Yasaka Pagoda. The exterior has dark brown lattice windows and pillars, beige walls, and a tiled roof, giving it a calm, traditional Japanese house feel. While the atmosphere outside may be slightly lively with hanging banners and signs, the interior has wooden floors, a brown ceiling, and walls in a muted red color, creating a cozy ambiance. There are table seats near the entrance and a counter along the back wall. I ordered a regular size iced aged coffee and a shrimp and anchovy hot dog. The coffee had a light acidity, a rich aroma, and a very smooth taste that matched my preference perfectly. The hot dog had plump shrimp and a hint of anchovy flavor, with a crispy outer bread. It was delicious, but slightly overshadowed by the amazing coffee. Although I sat at the counter in the back this time, I couldn't see it, but I imagine you can see Yasaka Pagoda from the terrace or table seats. Taking a break while gazing at the pagoda might be a nice experience.
