Before the store opened, there were already 3 people waiting in line, and a few more lined up behind me. It's amazing that this place is so popular even on a weekday. When a group of people come in all at once, the owner, who is the only one running the shop, gets a bit flustered, but that's understandable. I revisited the shop to try the Lemon Shortcake, and also ordered a Plum Soda. The Lemon Shortcake was as described on the menu, with a refreshing lemon curd filling, and it was delicious. Unfortunately, the Plum Soda this time was not as flavorful as before, and it was a bit disappointing. It's probably because the owner is handling everything alone, so if a large group comes in at once, they might not be able to give each order the attention it deserves.

The cafe, with its owner's unique touch, is a wonderful place for solo customers. The spacious interior is incredibly cozy, creating a luxurious atmosphere. Although I visited after opening hours, the place was already bustling with customers, especially popular among women. The Lemon Shortcake was already sold out, but I enjoyed the Ume Soda and the Peach and Coconut Blancmange Parfait. Both were delicious! I received the Ume for the soda from the garden of Chikusei-in Temple. I will definitely be returning to try the Lemon Shortcake next time. This is a must-visit cafe for me!

I felt a sense of style and attention to detail from the signboard. The door and furniture, even the toilet, had a very lovely atmosphere. Inside, it felt very spacious, which is rare in Kyoto. It gives off a feeling of stumbling upon a shop in the middle of the woods, where you can relax and take your time. I happened to visit on a weekday evening, so it wasn't crowded, which may have contributed to the relaxed atmosphere. The seating is well spaced out, allowing you to spend time without worrying about the people around you. I usually prefer to spend time quietly, but here I found myself chatting comfortably. Of course, with the seats well separated and counter seating available, it seems fine to visit alone. There was one large table, two regular tables, and four counter seats. I was initially impressed by the retro yet stylish atmosphere, and the menu also showed attention to detail. I chose the plum tart and iced coffee, and the crispy texture and sweetness of the tart matched my taste perfectly! The sweet and sourness of the plum worked really well. I enjoyed a summer cake that was perfect for the season. I have been loving baked goods lately, and this shop's baked goods were just to my liking. The iced coffee had a strong bitterness to it. Adding simple syrup enhanced its flavor. The attention to detail in the dishes added to the stylish mood. I was able to spend a very leisurely time there. The toilet was also lovely. It was spacious, and even the toilet space was large, with the sink area outside. This was also spacious. The lack of a door from the sink area was a nice touch. By the way, the hand soap was ESOP. It has a retro yet somehow new and pleasant feel.

In the beautiful area of Kitashirakawa, there is a lovely new shop. Located a 3-minute walk from the Ginkakuji-michi bus stop, on the second floor of a retro building, you'll find a quaint wooden sign that looks like something out of a vintage picture book. Climbing up the stairs, you'll come across a moss green door with a small, elongated window right next to it. The top photo on their website is a view of the interior through this window. Inside, the space is incredibly charming with a contrast of dark wooden floors and bright windows, creating a very serene atmosphere. A few customers were present, but the large table was available for me to enjoy alone. The menu offers daily cakes, various pastries, and sandwiches. I tried the Dark Cherry Shortcake, Custard Pudding, and Earl Grey Pudding. The puddings had a slightly firm and creamy texture, with a slightly bitter caramel flavor, perfect for adult tastes. The Shortcake, however, stood out the most. It had the softest, moistest cake I've ever had, and the dark cherry compote was incredibly juicy. The owner of Dosei no Wa had been doing events and pop-up cafes for years before finding this location. I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious cakes and will definitely be back to try their tarts and sandwiches. Another spot worth revisiting!

I climbed the stairs, opened the door, and found a cozy café with two counter seats, two two-seater tables, and one large table. The spacing was comfortable, and I ordered an iced café au lait and custard pudding from the menu. The pudding was just the right size, with a good caramel flavor and firm texture. The iced café au lait was a bit bitter, but it paired well with the pudding, cakes, and tarts available. It was a nice café with a slightly tilted time axis. I would like to visit again, and there was a coin parking lot right next to the shop.

I heard a rumor and decided to visit. There is a coin parking nearby. It is a hidden gem cafe with a very cozy atmosphere. It's very relaxing and the seating arrangement is quite luxurious.
