Chocolate has always been delicious. A popular product is chocolate-covered potato chips. But you can't forget about chocolate. It always has the same smooth and mellow taste. There are two types: sweet and milk. The milk chocolate used is made in Belgium.

I received Royce's Uji Matcha and Sansho Potato Chip Chocolate as a souvenir from Kyoto. It is a very Kyoto-like limited edition product. The matcha and sansho flavors complement each other well, balancing out the sweetness of the chocolate. It is delicious and highly recommended as a Kyoto souvenir.

It's about time to start carrying a cooler bag for shopping. I bought ROYCE's Potato Chip Chocolate, thinking it would be fine to carry it home in my regular bag. ROYCE charges for the bag. It's a combination of Uji matcha and Sansho pepper flavor. The salty and oily taste of the potato chips adds to its sinful deliciousness. Potato Chip Chocolate Uji Matcha and Sansho - 972

At Kyoto Station, I noticed a Royce Kyoto shop, even though Royce is from Hokkaido. Upon closer inspection, I found that it was a collaboration between Royce and Kyoto. As of March 2023, it seems they are only selling this collaboration product in Hokkaido and Kyoto. I bought the matcha and sansho potato chips. The combination of matcha, bitterness, saltiness, and sweetness made it hard to distinguish the flavors. It felt like a waste in the end.

At Daimaru Sapporo store, there was a special event. It felt strange to buy Royce chocolates at a Sapporo event. I think Royce is a sister company like Royce Ishigaki Island. I asked my wife to buy Uji matcha chocolate and chocolate chips. When I returned, there were three bags of chocolate chips at the register for some reason. It's always like this. Oh well. My wife thought I was tired of the Uji matcha chocolate because I always buy 5 of them. She was upset when I pointed it out in the past. She's a kind wife who cares about me. Setting aside the usual husband and wife stuff, what I bought was the Potato Chip Chocolate with Uji Matcha and Sansho (972 yen for 3 bags). The Sansho flavor is subtle, providing a nice accent. The bitterness of the matcha is just right, with a hint of pistachio flavor. The sweetness is perfect, making it very delicious. It goes well with coffee, black tea, green tea, matcha, or any drink, so the enjoyment is endless! The Daimaru event is until February 28th! It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!♪♪

"I received the 'Potegoma Cookie Uji Matcha Fromage' cookie. It is a collaboration between Uji matcha from Kyoto and cheese from Hokkaido. Matcha is used in various sweets, but this time it's a fusion of Japanese and Western flavors. With Royce's products, the combination is sure to be a hit!"

- Previously, sweets made with Kyoto tea that were only available for a limited time can now be purchased year-round! Sweets combining Kyoto's unique ingredients such as matcha, sansho pepper, and yuzu with chocolate are being sold. - Potato Chip Chocolate (Uji Matcha and Sansho Pepper) 800 yen (excluding tax) Thick-cut potato chips with a hint of saltiness coated with Uji matcha and Wakayama-produced grape sansho pepper chocolate. The slightly sweet matcha chocolate with a hint of bitterness and the spicy aroma of sansho pepper serve as accents. Eating a few pieces of these chocolate-coated chips brings a sense of happiness and indulgence all at once!

"Gift Series! The job of managing gifts 🎁 Helping with my daughter's work by setting up a café corner and managing gifts brought by visitors from various places. I prepare snacks and tea for guests and enjoy chatting with them. Delicious snacks keep coming in, like Royce Kyoto chocolates, which I didn't know existed. They have Uji matcha and Okinawan brown sugar chocolate sandwiched together, creating a delicious combination of bitter matcha and rich brown sugar. The chocolates are individually wrapped in small packets, making them very convenient. They are not too hard, but slightly soft, making them very delicious chocolates. They are great for casual gifts! 🍫"

Underground at Kyoto Station, I found a Royce sign while looking for souvenirs. It turns out they sell Kyoto-exclusive products using ingredients like black beans, sansho pepper, and Kyoto matcha. I bought their Kyoto-exclusive fresh chocolate, Matcha and Fromage, which was a good contrast of matcha and cheese flavors. The cheese was strong (mascarpone, gouda, cream cheese), and the overall taste was elegant. The matcha flavor was not as strong as expected, but it was still delicious with Royce's signature smooth texture. As a Kyoto souvenir, I wish it had a bit more matcha flavor, but as a Royce fan, I welcome this collaboration. Rating: +0.1 for mutual evaluation.

During a trip to Kyoto, I took a stroll to Isetan Kyoto Station to relax. There was a Hokkaido product fair being held, and I noticed that Royce was setting up a booth. As a Hokkaido native, I feel a sense of familiarity with Royce, but among the various types of fresh chocolates on display, I found a matcha-flavored fresh chocolate that I had never seen before. It turns out that Royce Kyoto has opened, and this matcha flavor is exclusive to Kyoto. When I mentioned to the staff at the booth that I am originally from Hokkaido, they strongly recommended the Kyoto-exclusive "Uji Matcha and Fromage" flavor, so I decided to try one. After checking into my hotel and trying it, I found that it was unlike any matcha flavor I had tried before, with a hint of cheese that made it delicious. I'm glad I found this gem.

It was an extremely hot day, so I decided to move to Kyoto Station to avoid walking around town. The underground area at Kyoto Station, like Porta and Isetan, had effective air conditioning, making it safe to walk around. There, I came across Royce Kyoto. Royce is a popular Hokkaido store that everyone knows. What sets this branch apart is that it only sells Kyoto-exclusive items. This means that the Royce products available here cannot be purchased at their Hokkaido stores. The showcase displayed products made with Kyoto-produced ingredients such as hojicha, matcha black beans, and sansho pepper. I tried the "Fresh Chocolate Uji Matcha and Fromage" and the "Brown Sugar and Uji Matcha Chocolate." The former had a good balance of two ingredients, melting in the mouth with a smooth flavor. The latter had a strong brown sugar aroma and a bitter taste, which I found a bit challenging. While I wanted to repurchase the matcha and fromage chocolate, the refrigeration required an additional cost for a simple silver bag, which I found overpriced. Overall, Royce Kyoto's products are reasonably priced and compact, making them suitable as souvenirs. However, as Royce is typically associated with Hokkaido, it may be a bit of a stretch to consider it a Kyoto souvenir. Currently, Royce Kyoto has two stores in Kyoto Station, one in Porta, and four at Itami Airport. While they have limited-time events, they do not offer online shopping. Thank you for the meal!

When it comes to souvenirs from Hokkaido, popular choices are Rokkatei's butter sand, Shiroi Koibito, and Royce's nama chocolate. I never expected to see Royce's logo at Kyoto Station's permanent store. It is located in Porta's underground area called "Kyokonomi". There are also three other stores, including "Omigegai" at the central ticket gate on the 1st floor, and "Omigegai Kyoto" at the west ticket gate on the 2nd floor. However, the Royce chocolates you buy in Kyoto are different from those in Hokkaido. They are made to suit Kyoto's style of sweets. I bought black sugar and Uji matcha chocolates. They are delicious, but Hokkaido's nama chocolate still takes the top spot.

The chocolate had a melty texture and was excellent. The chips had a unique taste with the addition of sansho pepper, which might be divisive. Personally, I prefer the regular chocolate type. The quality is definitely top-notch, as expected from Royce.
