I went to this place because it stays open late. I like how the small onigiri is served on top of sushi geta. There are many different types of onigiri, some of which I couldn't imagine the taste just by looking at them. The taste is average. There are also plenty of snacks available, making it suitable for young people.

I ended up coming back to "Mimian" late at night. It's a restaurant in Gion called "Mimian". After having a hearty okonomiyaki, when drinking in the Gion area, I often feel like "I, I want to eat onigiri". When you eat out a lot, you tend to crave for onigiri, which is made by human hands, rather than noodles. Each onigiri costs 150 yen and is made after you order, placed on a sushi geta. Just this alone gets me excited. Plus, there are 30 different types of fillings. I always struggle to decide which one to eat. On this day, I had the following: - Mayo mentaiko - Beef shigure - Ikura - Ebi mayo - Spicy takana They may be small, but the plumply shaped onigiri can be eaten endlessly. To enjoy the onigiri even more, don't forget to order a soup. The limited menu miso soup is a must on days when it's available. They make it after you order. It warms you up from the inside out. Ahh, I know I'll gain weight but I can't stop. Late-night onigiri cravings.

Gion's "Mimian" - a place you can't help but go to for a satisfying finish. For those who enjoy drinking, do you have a go-to dish for the perfect finish? Whether it's ramen, a bar, or sushi, everyone has their own preference. For me, after a night of drinking around Sanjo and Shijo, I always find myself craving a visit to "Mimian" in Gion. There's something about the handmade onigiri that is so comforting after a night out. People who eat out frequently tend to have a soft spot for onigiri. The sight of the chefs skillfully making onigiri and placing them on wooden plates like sushi is quite appealing. Located in the lively Gion district, Mimian is open until morning, making it a popular spot for late-night crowds. With a variety of dishes available, it's easy to get carried away snacking before indulging in the onigiri. And of course, a beer is a must, even as a finishing touch. Despite being a closing dish. Bamboo shoot tempura for 500 yen - Bamboo shoot season is coming to an end. The slightly sweet bamboo shoots are deep-fried to perfection, seasoned simply with salt. A delightful dish. Chicken cheese cutlet for 500 yen - Surprisingly, there is a wide selection of fried dishes available, and they are quite affordable. Made with chicken, cheese, and shiso leaf, generously topped with sauce. A hearty dish that for some reason, you crave in the middle of the night. Onigiri (per piece) for 150 yen - And now, it's time for the highlight - the onigiri. Made with freshly polished Koshihikari rice from Uonuma, each onigiri is carefully hand-rolled. There are 30 different fillings to choose from, making it hard to decide. Since the onigiri is small, you can order a variety to try them all! On this day, I tried four different kinds: Chanja, Chicken Curry, Shrimp Mayo, and Salmon Roe. The gentle onigiri with Chanja filling was my favorite! Red miso soup for 400 yen - Since the pork miso soup I had last time was a daily special, it wasn't available this time. Enjoying red miso soup while savoring the onigiri was simply delightful.

Gion "Mimian" - After eating and drinking a lot, it's strange how drinkers always want to stop by one more place for a final meal before heading home. For a great finish to a night out in Kyoto's Gion district, I recommend "Mimian." They are open until 5 am, so it's a popular spot for those coming from other bars late at night. At the counter, you can enjoy freshly made onigiri, a unique style in this area. When you're drunk, you always seem to crave onigiri, right? People who eat out a lot often have a special fondness for handmade onigiri. The menu also includes classic dishes that appeal to drinkers. Even though you came for onigiri as a final snack, you end up ordering more and even having a beer, it's a mystery. The fried fish cake with seaweed edges for 400 yen is simple but delicious when freshly fried. The chicken nanban for 600 yen is crispy and generously topped with tartar sauce. You can't go wrong with it. The dashimaki tamago for 500 yen is a juicy rolled omelet with a rich broth. Pair it with miso soup and onigiri for a feast. The pork miso soup for 600 yen was tempting on this day. It warms your heart and soul, especially when paired with onigiri. The kasujiru for 600 yen was also recommended. It looked delicious! The onigiri (per piece) for 150 yen was the highlight. They offer 30 different fillings for the freshly made onigiri, served on a wooden plate just like sushi. They are small enough to eat in one bite. I ordered the mackerel miso, salmon mayo, and grilled cod roe. The rice is carefully prepared and perfectly shaped. Just the description alone makes it sound delicious. It's the kind of onigiri that you can't resist eating. It was a delightful meal!

It's been a while since I stopped by after a drinking party. Feeling a bit hungry, I ordered some snacks like grilled chikuwa, pork belly stir-fried with leeks, and onigiri. And of course, I always finish with a bowl of red miso soup. It's a simple soup with red miso and just eggs as ingredients, but I never forget to order it last no matter how drunk I am.

I visited this restaurant for the second time because the last visit was delicious. This time, I ordered hokke (Okhotsk atka mackerel), oyster fry, and miso soup. The hokke had salt on it and was incredibly delicious. The only downside was the oyster fry, as the batter was thick and a bit oily. The miso soup was tasty, but I wish it had a stronger flavor.

I visited Mai Mai An for the first time, attracted by the fact that they are open late at night and serve delicious food. I started with the Kaki Fry, but the most delicious dish was the thick-cut Hokke. The Hokke was amazing. We ended the meal with onigiri, and even though we were worried about ordering three each, the bite-sized portions made it easy to enjoy a variety of flavors. The miso soup was also delicious.

I appreciate this shop that stays open late into the night as my work often finishes late. I enjoyed some drinks along with dishes like deep-fried seaweed, fried oysters, and grilled hokke fish. The grilled fish here is always delicious no matter what you order. To finish, I had four bite-sized rice balls and miso soup. There are various types of rice balls to choose from but the size and taste of these ones are the best. Thank you for the meal.

I came to drink in Gion, Kyoto and visited Yomena, which was delicious last time! The snacks and drinks are as good as always, and this time I tried the hokke which exceeded my expectations. It was definitely worth coming back. The onigiri I had was negi-zasai, a combination you can't find in convenience stores!

I found a good restaurant when I was feeling a little hungry. It's located on the first floor of a building, but it's a bit hidden in the back so it's easy to miss. They only have L-shaped counter seats, and it's recommended to make a reservation in advance. The individual menu items were delicious as well. The rice balls are bite-sized, so even women can easily eat them.

Gion's creative cuisine and onigiri shop. All dishes are delicious and have high quality for late-night hours. The onigiri come in various types and are a size that women can enjoy. The chef makes each onigiri in front of you. Men can easily eat 10 of them. Be careful, late-night rice can make you gain weight!

I stumbled upon a late-night restaurant in Gion, Kyoto after a night of drinking, and was pleasantly surprised. They had about 30 different types of bite-sized onigiri, which were both interesting and delicious. They also had a variety of small dishes available. Among them, the pork belly and Kujo green onion stir-fry paired perfectly with the onigiri.

[10/18 First Visit] Article Published 11/25, 9 reviews, 3.09 stars. I was curious about this restaurant from the reviews. It's a small izakaya in Gion, popular for its small rice balls. Visited as the second stop. Seems like I'm eating a lot of rice balls tonight (lol). -Exterior: Looks like a cozy izakaya. -Interior: Dim lighting, upbeat Japanese music, creating a lively izakaya atmosphere. -Ordered a bottle of beer for 600 yen. -Started with a side dish. -Grilled Pacific saury for 750 yen, perfect for autumn. -Oden (daikon radish, thick fried tofu) was delicious. -Tamago Akadashi for 500 yen, with Nagoya Cochin half-boiled egg, was comforting. -Ordered various rice balls for 140 yen each. Each rice ball was two bites in size and delicious. The rice was warm, glossy, and slightly sticky, with a strong saltiness. Overall, two beers and a moderate amount of food cost 3,520 yen, which is reasonable for Gion. A great place for mini-sized rice balls as a closing dish. How about rice balls for dessert? Thank you for the meal!

I stumbled upon this shop during my first stroll through Kyoto. It has a slightly rustic, traditional Japanese counter-style atmosphere. The customers ranged from people in their late 20s to their 60s, creating a diverse ambiance. They offer a variety of dishes, from sake accompaniments to small plates, making it a great place for both drinking and enjoying a meal. The menu includes fresh sashimi, seasonal items like hamo and man'nenji, providing plenty of options to choose from. Everything I tried was delicious. It was a lucky find to come across such a wonderful shop.
