There is a famous confectionery shop called Fujiya that sells cakes and more. They have macarons with various designs that make cute souvenirs. I tried the Pochacco chocolate, and although it's sweet, the texture is chewy and delicious. They also sell Baskin-Robbins ice cream, which I love. The Peko-chan cheek cake has a sweet sponge with custard cream, and it's quite tasty. Despite being a chain store, the prices are affordable, making it a good value for money. They only accept cash.

Today I had lunch at Onna Zakura in Fushimi, tasting different drinks at Fujioka Shuzo brewery. Even though I was full, I felt like having coffee. I ended up going to Fujiiya in Otesuji shopping street after seeing Peko-chan. When it comes to Fujiiya, it has to be the white chocolate fresh cream cake. However, the shape of the cake has changed and I was disappointed that it didn't have the sliced white chocolate on top like before. Overall, I preferred the previous version. I had the milk crepe instead. The coffee set for ¥300 was a nice addition. Despite everything, Fujiiya's cheap taste is still delicious. They were selling Milky Rusk, which caught my interest. Anything with "milky" sounds delicious, right? And it's rusk... I decided to buy it. It's individually packaged, convenient, and tasty. I couldn't resist the cute Anpanman tin either, so I made an impulse purchase. No matter how old you are, Fujiiya still makes your heart flutter.

Peko-chan's cheek. It's cheap and good for gifts, so I always use it, but I had never eaten it before. Today, there were a few more than usual, so I tried it for the first time. The fluffy chiffon cake with custard cream inside was delicious.

There was a Peko-chan Pocko-chan's Fujiya in the Fushimi Otesuji Shopping Street. Fujiya is a somewhat complicated company. It is a subsidiary of Yamazaki Baking and also has Takara Bune as a subsidiary. Fujiya is said to have established the tradition of giving gifts on White Day in 1973. Let's buy some sweets at Fujiya after a long time. The posters and displays in front of the store are promoting Peko-chan's cheeks. They cost 118 yen each. It's nice to see only the tax-inclusive price displayed. There are three flavors of Peko-chan's cheeks: chocolate cream, custard, and Amaou strawberry milk, so let's buy two of each and take them home. They put them in a box for free and even include a cold pack. Peko-chan's Cheeks - Chocolate Cream. There is an illustration of Peko-chan stamped on it. Inside the fluffy sponge, there is a dense chocolate cream. <Product Description> The cream has become even more delicious! This sweet treat features fluffy sponge with honey and smooth chocolate cream that will make you smile. It is recommended as a snack for children made from 100% domestically produced wheat. Peko-chan's Cheeks - Custard. This one also has a dense custard cream inside. <Product Description> The cream has become even more delicious! This sweet treat features fluffy sponge with honey and smooth custard cream that will make you smile. It is recommended as a snack for children made from 100% domestically produced wheat. Peko-chan's Cheeks - Amaou Strawberry Milky. It has a strawberry milk flavor cream inside. <Product Description> Amaou strawberry milky flavor is now available in Peko-chan's cheeks! We put Fukuoka prefecture's Amaou strawberry sauce and milky cream in a fluffy sponge. It has a gentle taste of Amaou strawberry and milk.

It's been a long time since I last visited the main shopping street. I had dinner at "Miyako Soba" and bought a cake from "Fujiya" to enjoy at home. It's a reliable old cake shop with a normal taste. I bought and ate the cake around 8:30 pm, and I am satisfied. I came back home and enjoyed it right away. Thank you for the meal.

When I went to Otemachi Street, I had tea. The Otemachi shopping street also has old stores disappearing year by year. This place has been here since I can remember. It has been renovated and become a bright shop. When you think of Fujiya, you think of parasol chocolate, North Carolina, and Nectar. Soft éclairs, chocolate pencils... besides Milky, everyone has probably tried them at least once. There used to be one on the corner of Shijo Kiya-cho as well. But there are only a few left now. Feeling a bit nostalgic, I chose the retro strawberry shortcake. I had an iced straight tea as my drink. It cost 888 yen including tax. There were few strawberries (lol) and the cream felt a bit heavy, but maybe I've become too luxurious as an adult. When I was a child, I probably wouldn't have had the chance to eat this unless it was a special occasion. But I hope these kinds of shops will continue to exist for a long time. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

On July 27th, after dinner, we went to a cake shop that we were glad was still open. We couldn't resist buying some cakes. I chose a visually appealing pudding a la mode, while my husband went for anmitsu. We both also got our favorite mocha eclair, which I think is unique to Fujiya. The eclair has a light cream taste that is not too rich, unlike the chocolate ones. I think it's the most delicious among the nationwide chain cake shops. However, even Fujiya on the main street feels old. The building was turned into a store many years ago, and the store has shrunk since then. The coffee shop where I used to chat with friends during high school is also gone. (Although a small eat-in corner remains... I think) It might be a place where you can feel relieved when you see it in the bustling main street where stores come and go. Thank you for the meal.

I got off at Fushimi-Momoyama Station for the first time in a while and bought cakes from Fujiya. The Special Mont Blanc was delicious with chestnuts and cream, and the Special Strawberry Shortcake with two layers of cream and plenty of strawberries was also luxurious. Sometimes I crave Fujiya's cakes. I haven't tried the Milky Roll Cake yet, so I'm curious about it and might buy it next time. Even though I said that, I ended up buying the same ones as always. They are all delicious and satisfying. Thank you for the meal!

Eating cakes from Fujiya used to be a status symbol when I was a child. Now, I can easily buy them in bulk. Oh, what happiness! I have been a regular customer at this store located in a major shopping street for a long time. The smiles and customer service of the staff always warm my heart. Although there is a cafe corner in the store, I always get my cakes to go. This time was no exception. There is a cake called Italian Shortcake (550 yen) at Fujiya, which is surprisingly affordable. This cake has become one of my favorites, but it is not always available in the showcase. However, today there was one left! It's a strawberry shortcake with plenty of whipped cream, about 1.5 times the size of a regular cake. The whipped cream has a unique taste, not too sweet, and it really stands out as a Fujiya product. It seems you can also enjoy it at the cafe corner for the same price.

When I was a child, receiving a cake set from Fujiya was a rare luxury. It was the ultimate reward for being a "good kid" while out and about, with the promise of taking a break and then catching the train. The store had a chocolate parfait, a coveted dessert, but all I remember eating was the strawberry shortcake or hotcakes. As an adult, it took some effort to order a parfait (haha). Over time, there are now many places where you can easily enjoy sweets, and Fujiya has become more of a takeout shop. I wondered if you could no longer enjoy their treats in-store, but they are still going strong. There is a tea room at the back of the store, where you can enjoy nostalgic menu items like the cake set. While takeout is convenient, having some secret time alone enjoying a treat might be nice too!
