I was looking forward to staying overnight in Miyama Town♫ but unfortunately, the night before departure, I got a stomach ache. I rushed to the hospital early in the morning to get a prescription and then dragged myself to the trip. Feeling bad for my partner, I dozed off in the passenger seat. Miyama Town area is about 40km long horizontally, and Saison-Tei is located in a peaceful and beautiful mountain village opposite to Miyama-no-Sato. As soon as we arrived, the owner welcomed us. We had the whole old house to ourselves, giving a feeling of visiting someone's home. The interior was a mix of traditional and modern Japanese style, with a lovely hearth and large windows offering picturesque views of the surrounding trees. The owner, a stylish elderly couple, served us coffee and homemade sesame cookies. They shared that they had moved from Kyoto city, which was quite inspiring. We explored the surroundings before dinner, enjoying the serene countryside and Yuragawa River. There were only a few small shops around, which was perfect. For dinner, I struggled to eat but managed to have a few bites. The appetizers were plentiful and delicious, including local specialties like Tanba black beans and saba salad. Unfortunately, I had to skip the main course, which was a grilled dish featuring Miyama chicken and Tanba beef. The bath was made of fragrant cypress wood and was available 24 hours a day. The water from Miyama was soft and refreshing, like a hot spring. Breakfast included scrambled eggs with Miyama chicken eggs, local vegetable salad, homemade bread or rice, yogurt, sausages, coffee, Miyama milk, and freshly squeezed apple and grapefruit juice. The morning view from the large window was beautiful. Despite not feeling completely well, I managed to enjoy the delicious breakfast. The owner kindly offered a tasty dessert that I couldn't finish the night before. It was a delightful panna cotta. We had a luxurious time surrounded by the charm of the old house, rural scenery, nature, silent nights, local delicacies, and the starry sky if it had been clear. It was a truly indulgent experience.
