The Chinese food here is too salty for my taste, but this place was really good! Next time, I will try the mixed noodles. It's a popular place with solo female diners, salarymen, older gentlemen, and tourists. It's great that solo female diners are welcome here. The beer was nice and cold, which was refreshing. Some places serve lukewarm beer, so it was good to have one that was properly chilled.

It was a public holiday but I was able to get in smoothly. There used to be water placed on the counter, but now you have to call a staff member to get water. The fried chicken combined with the moderately spicy fried rice was a sublime dish. Recommended dishes are pork and leek salt fried rice, and shredded pork with green peppers.

I was a bit hesitant to try this restaurant based on its appearance, but the food was incredibly delicious. It was hot in the summer, so I always go for dishes with cold noodles on the menu. For my first visit, I tried the cold sesame tantan noodles. The spiciness level is indicated by a chili pepper mark, and I usually find CoCo Ichibanya's regular spice level to be hot. The cold sesame tantan noodles had 3 chili peppers marked, and it was a bit spicier than I expected. However, the first few bites were so delicious that I plan to try all the items on the menu.

Around 7:00 pm, I visited without a reservation. The restaurant was busy, but they said they would seat us as soon as they cleared a table. We were seated after a 2-3 minute wait. I had visited this restaurant for lunch a few times in the past because it is close to my office, but this was my first time visiting for dinner. I had always thought it was a ramen shop specializing in tantanmen, but during dinner time, they offer a variety of authentic Chinese dishes. I tried the tekkotsu ramen and horumon yakisoba. For the tekkotsu ramen, you can choose the type of meat inside, so I ordered the mixed meat option. It was like a "sukiyaki" dish, but with added horumon and slightly different ingredients like cabbage that wasn't cooked too much. The meat and horumon were both delicious. The yakisoba had a unique flavor compared to typical yakisoba, but it was tasty. There were more menu options than I expected, so I couldn't try the tantanmen or the gyoza that other tables were having. I look forward to visiting again next time.

I entered Manbukuro without waiting because the Ootoya across the street had a long line of foreign tourists. It was around 6pm on Saturday and the restaurant quickly became full after I entered. Since I was dining alone, I ordered the mapo tofu rice set. The mapo tofu was very spicy and I had to keep asking for more water. The staff were chatting with each other and didn't notice when my water ran out, so I had to ask them each time. The famous dumplings come in sets of 4, which was too much for one person. It would have been better if they offered sets of 2. I recommend coming with multiple people in the evening.

[Waiting Time] Almost full
[Service] Excellent
[Would Visit Again] Yes
[Payment Method] Cash
[Turnover] Medium
[Dish: Mapo Mian (Medium Spicy)]
[Noodles] Thin straight noodles
[Toppings] Mapo tofu, wood ear mushrooms, Chinese cabbage, bean sprouts, Sichuan peppercorn
[Sauce] Mapo sauce
[Preparation Time] 9 minutes
You can choose spiciness level 3-5 for free, level 8 costs extra. The distinction between free and paid spiciness levels is unclear. The tofu is soft but not too firm. The mapo flavor is universally appealing, with a mild numbing effect and a hint of Sichuan peppercorn aroma. Spiciness level 3 is moderately spicy, enough to make you sweat a bit. The bean sprouts and wood ear mushrooms are well-chewed and add a nice texture. It was delicious.
[Side Dish: Small Fried Rice]
[Preparation Time] 11 minutes
Neither exceptional nor disappointing.

I was in the mood for something spicy, so I wanted to order the super spicy Mala Tan Tan Men (level 10 spiciness), but the waiter stopped me and recommended the Red Tan Tan Men instead. It looked and smelled very spicy, and it was indeed quite hot, but the soup had a rich flavor with a strong kick of Sichuan pepper, and it was very delicious! Even though it was labeled as level 4 spiciness, it was quite hot, but I couldn't resist drinking the soup even after finishing the noodles. I ordered rice to go with it, using the soup as a side dish, and it was incredibly tasty for the final touch. I'm grateful to the waiter who stopped me from ordering the super spicy Mala Tan Tan Men!

Under the COVID-19 measures, it's been a while since I last visited Manbutsubki, but their black sesame tantanmen is delicious! The richness and flavor of the sesame are outstanding. The noodles are chewy and satisfying, and even without soup, the tantanmen is great! Don't forget to try the fried rice too!
- Black Sesame Tantanmen: 980 yen
- Small Fried Rice Set: 300 yen
- Soupless Tantanmen: 980 yen
- Large Serving: 100 yen
Thank you for the meal!

I was able to get in without a reservation right before 9 p.m. on a weekday before Golden Week. Last order was at 9:30 p.m. I ordered the green onion ponzu gyoza for 650 yen, the winged gyoza for 650 yen, and the red tomato tantanmen for 1,080 yen. The red tomato tantanmen had a whole sweet tomato in it, which made it refreshing and easy to finish. The noodles had a great texture and I even drank up all the soup. The winged gyoza surprisingly had a lot of juicy meat and the wings were crispy and delicious. This is a restaurant that can be enjoyed by individuals or large groups. I will definitely go back again!

I remember being very surprised by the amount of sesame seeds in the dish when I first tried it here about 10 years ago, and it was delicious. Sometimes I get a craving for it. When I went back after a long time, I felt like there were fewer black sesame seeds, but it was still very tasty. It's a one-of-a-kind tantanmen.

I had been curious about the hidden menu at Wantuchi-san for a while! When you enter the restaurant, the unique interior with interesting Chinese illustrations catches your eye. ● Addictive Gyoza (grilled) 450 yen - The soup inside overflows just like xiaolongbao! I couldn't resist having a second one right away! The skin is chewy, and the meat is juicy just right. Before I knew it, I had devoured four of them in no time! Truly addictive. ● Tantan Tamago Meshi 480 yen - Once you break the egg yolk and pour it over, it's so creamy and delicious! The sweet and spicy flavor of the minced meat miso is amazing, and it has a spicy kick that comes later! The authentic Chinese spices are also felt, but it's mellowed out by the egg. The crunchy texture of the green onions adds a nice touch! Oh, it's delicious! I found a great menu! Gyoza and rice bowl for a total of 930 yen! The menu is available for both lunch and dinner. It's an all-day menu, so it's recommended for late lunches as well. 11:30 am to 10 pm, last order at 9:30 pm. Wifi available.

For those who want a hearty meal with plenty of rice, I recommend this place. Visited on 02/15/2023 with three friends. Overall rating: 5/5.

We ordered the Ma Po Pork Chop Rice (rice with Sichuan-style mapo tofu and pork cutlet). The spiciness was not too strong, but the spices on the pork cutlet were delicious. The Spare Rib Tan Tan Noodles that my friend ordered were quite spicy. The portion of rice we got was smaller, but this place is known for its generous servings. Considering the location, the value for money here is quite good. The flavors were consistently rich and savory. Thank you for the meal.

I spent about an hour wandering around the area to increase my "step count" after eating. When I have to drive long distances, I try to explore while walking around and looking for shops. Yesterday, I walked about 12,500 steps. Since I've been eating a lot of noodles lately, I wanted something other than noodles. However, my wallet is feeling a bit empty, so I can't afford sushi or Japanese cuisine. I decided to try a mapo tofu dish since I thought it would be affordable, and luckily they allowed me to order from the lunch menu even though it was almost 5 pm. I ordered the Szechuan-style mapo tofu for 980 yen. Normally, I would add alcohol to my meal, but I resisted this time. I check my alcohol level every morning, and sometimes I get a slight reading, probably due to my early mornings. The Szechuan-style mapo tofu dish was not as flavorful as I expected, and the rice portion was larger than I asked for. The pickled vegetables were too few for my liking. The egg soup, however, was delicious. The consistency of the mapo tofu sauce became watery quickly, which was a bit disappointing. I checked the restaurant's website later and found out that it was part of a group that I had always avoided and never visited before, called "Koukotai Gyoza-ya Saitama Shintoshin." Well, you win some, you lose some.

I arrived at the restaurant around 7:30 PM on a weekday and found an empty seat right away at the counter. I saw a woman sitting alone at the next seat. I ordered the White Sesame Tantanmen for 1000 yen, Scallion Ponzu Gyoza for 650 yen, and a Maiden's Highball for 550 yen. The Tantanmen was a bit greasy but I enjoyed it and finished the soup. The gyoza was okay, but the Highball was not that great. The food was delicious, but the downside was that the salarymen around me were too noisy.

Ma Po Pork Rib Rice: 1,280 yen First visit. I was drawn to the menu photo and ordered the Ma Po pork rib rice. How do you read "排骨飯"? I looked it up and it seems to be "Paikuhan." Later, I noticed "Paikuu" on the menu. Ma Po, tonkatsu, rice, and cilantro topping. The black bowl in the photo is actually an iron pot. That's why you can hear the sound of simmering from the Ma Po. It is piping hot. The Ma Po is moderately spicy, but more than that, it's hot. The pork cutlet is also well-seasoned and the overall flavor is strong. Those who prefer mild flavors might find it too salty. Because of the iron pot, you can enjoy the crispy rice at the bottom. Personally, I would like to come back, but the cost-performance ratio may vary. It's a dish that will make you sweat. If you're interested, please give it a try. Thank you for the meal!

The dinner menu was so enticing that we stopped by on a whim, but the more we looked at the menu, the harder it was to resist, and we ended up ordering way too much for just the two of us. The kitchen seemed to be run by just one older brother, while there were several young staff members who seemed to be part-time, which was a little concerning. However, the taste was excellent!

I visited Manbukirei near Nishiki Market in Kyoto for the first time. It is a chain store of that corporation, and the interior of the store looks similar. For lunch today, I ordered the mapo tofu set meal, and it seemed like the order rate for tantanmen was high. The tantanmen ordered by the person next to me arrived in about 3 minutes, but my order still hadn't come. After 10 minutes passed, I started to feel impatient and asked a staff member if my order had been placed. They said it had, but there was no sign of it coming. Just when I was thinking of leaving, the chef in the kitchen finally noticed and my dish arrived. I often hear that in the food service industry, taste is 3 and service is 7, and experiences like this make me understand why.

I always use the counter for lunch. My favorite dish here is the sesame tantanmen. I tried the super spicy tantanmen before, so this time I opted for the black sesame tantanmen, which had just the right amount of spiciness and a rich flavor that I really liked. I also ordered rice and fried chicken. They offer sets that you can order until around 5 pm, making it a very convenient restaurant. It's always busy with customers no matter what time you go.

Dr. Fujisaki Shinichi, the director of BODYPIT KYOTO here. I found this restaurant when I was looking for a place to eat mapo noodles. I had accumulated T points on Tabelog, so I made a reservation online through Tabelog. It's right by the north exit (Nishiki side) of Daimaru Kyoto store. I had the Taiwan ramen (normal), addictive gyoza, tomato gyoza, black sesame spicy fried rice, mapo tofu, and white rice. The Taiwan ramen wasn't too spicy, but the mapo tofu was very spicy. However, it wasn't a lingering spiciness, and it was very delicious with a refreshing aftertaste. White rice is the best partner for mapo tofu. It was a great find and I left the restaurant completely satisfied. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. Thank you very much.

I visited the restaurant around 12:30 pm and it was crowded, but I was seated at the counter without waiting. I ordered the "Red Spicy Dan Dan Noodles" (980 yen) without cilantro. The bowl came with minced meat and chopped green onions topped with sesame seeds. When I tasted the soup, I could feel a strong scent of Sichuan pepper and a numbing sensation, with plenty of chili oil used, but it didn't feel too oily. The noodles were chewy and tangled well with the soup and oil. Unlike the typical sesame-flavored Dan Dan noodles, this one had a strong taste of chili oil and Sichuan pepper, with a subtle sesame flavor. The scent of Sichuan pepper was less intense as the soup cooled down a bit, allowing the umami flavor of the soup to come through.
