Located in Pontocho alley. I ordered the sirloin beef cutlet and it was delicious. The crispy coating with just the right amount of fat on the beef gives it a satisfying taste. There are several types of dipping sauces available, so you will surely find your favorite. Personally, I liked the sauce, curry sauce, and yuzu salt. I will definitely come back again.

I always thought that tonkatsu was made with pork, but beef katsu is delicious. You can adjust the rareness on the hot plate. There is a wide variety of dipping sauces. The curry dipping sauce is also delicious. When it's rare, it goes well with wasabi soy sauce, and when it's medium, it pairs nicely with sauce or curry sauce. The beef tenderloin katsu is also excellent. The location in Pontocho means that there were mostly foreign customers.

During lunchtime, I took a leisurely stroll in Pontocho and ended up at Katsu Ushi in Kyoto. The cost performance was good, and they had three different sauces that complemented the beef cutlet well, allowing for a change in taste. However, I personally found the frying of the cutlet too rare. If it had been cooked a little more, I would definitely consider coming back.

Visited the main store of "Kyoto Katsugyu," a nationwide chain specializing in beef cutlets. Tried the Sirloin Cutlet, the Loin Cutlet, and the Kyoto Tamazen set (¥1749) which offers a combination of both. The service was incredibly fast. The cutlets were fried quickly at high temperatures, leaving a rare texture. The Loin Cutlet was delicious, with a medium-rare texture and a strong umami flavor. The Sirloin Cutlet, on the other hand, was cooked more thoroughly, with a firm texture and less fatty than expected. The breading was thin and crispy. The variety of sauces and seasonings provided, such as sauce, soy sauce, wasabi, sansho pepper salt, onsen egg, and curry, was enjoyable. However, the sansho pepper salt was a bit lacking in flavor for my taste. I ended up using sauce and soy sauce instead. The cutlets were smaller than expected, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, despite some minor disappointments, the breading and the umami flavor of the meat were delicious.

This is the main store of Katsugyu, which is expanding nationwide. The main store in Pontocho has a different atmosphere compared to other branches. It has a calming space with a brown color scheme. Other branches tend to be more lively. One of the features is the ability to choose different cuts of meat. 1) They use a cut called Sirloin Haneshita. 2) The sirloin has a lot of fat and is tender. 3) The fillet has a moist texture and is extremely delicious. 4) The tongue has a unique chewy texture. This time, I tried a combination of fillet and tongue, and it was enjoyable to experience different textures. The prices are not too high and the food is really delicious, so please come and try it.

Due to the New Year's holiday, there were no empty restaurants around 9 PM, so we decided to dine at this place. There were two floors, with the kitchen located on the first floor. My friend and I sat at the counter and ordered the Beef Loin Cutlet Set. The set came with curry sauce, dashi soy sauce, sansho pepper salt, sauce, and wasabi, allowing us to enjoy the meat in various ways. However, the meat was sliced thinner than it appeared in the photos, and there were many tough parts with sinew that were difficult to chew. The staff had a great attitude and provided excellent service when taking our order and when we left.

I came to Kyoto and couldn't decide where to eat near my hotel, so I found a beef cutlet restaurant... and ended up at Kyoto Katsugyu Sakuragawa Main Store. I wanted to eat something extravagant, so I decided to go for the "Yokubari Gomori Set Meal" (2690 yen). When it comes to beef cutlets, I remember the ones I had at Akatsuka PA three years ago during work. They were affordable, had a strong beef flavor, and were delicious. But what about a specialty restaurant like this one... I was getting excited. I also ordered a draft beer (480 yen) to sip on while waiting for my set meal to arrive. The set meal included luxurious cuts like loin, fillet, tongue, and rib roast. It also came with six different ways to enjoy it - with wasabi soy sauce, sansho pepper salt, special sauce, curry, soft-boiled egg, and grated ponzu sauce. The curry was missing from the serving, but I enjoyed all the other options. Overall, the beef cutlets were amazing, especially the tongue which had a unique texture. The combination of tenderness and the distinct beef flavor was excellent. Each sauce had its own appeal, but I particularly enjoyed the soft-boiled egg. It was also delicious to pour the remaining sauce over the rice. If you've never tried beef cutlets before, I recommend visiting this place and giving it a try.

I had lunch at a Kyoto cuisine restaurant, and for dinner, I decided to visit a place recommended by a friend. I had never heard of this restaurant before. I thought beef was the main focus in Kansai, so I was surprised when the katsu was served rare, which I actually enjoyed. There were several different sauces to try, which made the meal even more enjoyable. The best part was that it was quite affordable, only costing two 1,000 yen bills in Pontocho. They even provided a grill at the table, although I prefer my beef rare, so I didn't really need it. Despite being a budget-friendly option, they still went above and beyond to cater to different preferences, which I really appreciated.

When I feel like eating beef, I always come here. They serve beef cutlets with three different seasonings: Kyoto-style soy sauce, salt and pepper, and wasabi-flavored sauce. It's like a Japanese-style beef cutlet. You can have unlimited refills of cabbage and red miso soup. Steak is also good, but in terms of cost performance, this place is definitely the best!

Beef Cutlet in Kyoto - Katsu Kyoto During a trip to Kyoto, I decided to stop by this place to try their beef cutlet. Although they also have a branch in Tokyo, I wanted to satisfy my craving for beef cutlet and decided to give it a try for the first time. The interior of the restaurant is long and narrow, with a unique shape. The menu suggests trying their beef cutlet, which is said to be ready in about 60 seconds. True to their claim, the service is fast! As for the taste, you can choose from various sauces, but I went with the classic Oropon sauce. The beef cutlet was perfectly rare inside, covered in a crispy coating. I dipped it in sauce and enjoyed it with a generous serving of rice. In the end, it was a satisfying meal that felt hearty and fulfilling. Price per customer: around 2000 yen. Seating options: tables and counter seats. Nearest location: Kawaramachi. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I had been wanting to visit this place for a while, and finally had the chance to stop by. I tried the beef loin cutlet set meal. The location in Pontocho, the interior, and the stylish atmosphere are all impressive! The taste seemed more refined than the usual Katsugyu I have had. Was it always this delicious? The staff were also friendly and welcoming. I definitely want to come back here again.

I visited the main store of Katsugyu in Kyoto, which has a modern and new interior. The apprentice chefs provide polite and pleasant service. I ordered the Beef Cutlet Kyoto Tamago Set (M size) for 1480 yen. It arrived with a generous portion of meat on top. The meat itself has a strong flavor. One of the highlights here is the variety of sauces you can try! First, I tried the wasabi soy sauce, which had a Japanese feel. The sansho pepper was as expected. The sauce was quite refreshing and light. The Kyoto curry dipping sauce was sweet and delicious! It tasted like a sweet curry udon with a rich dashi broth. Finally, I poured it over rice, but the Kyoto tamago was the most delicious! It's rich and flavorful, with a lot of dashi. I mostly ate it with the soft-boiled egg on top!

I often visit the Nagoya Fushimi store. This time, I wanted to treat my children while traveling, so I chose this place. The location was a bit difficult to find with the navigation, but it is situated in a very Kyoto-like atmosphere. The staff were very kind and polite, and the beef cutlet was delicious.

I was planning to have dinner at a different restaurant in Kyoto, but when I arrived, it was unexpectedly closed for a private event. So, I had to go back to the city center to find another restaurant. I ended up easily getting into a place I had been interested in the day before. I had been to a restaurant in Tokyo with a different name but serving beef cutlet, and I was surprised to find a similar one in Kyoto. I sat at the counter next to some foreigners, showing how global the place was. I noticed that they hadn't eaten much of their rice. What a waste! I ordered the beef loin cutlet set meal in size L (1,580 yen). In Tokyo, the beef cutlet was served on a hot stone for you to cook as you like, but here it was just on a plate. They offered various sauces like wasabi soy sauce, sansho pepper salt, regular sauce, and curry sauce. The curry sauce was not that great, but everything else was good! The beef cutlet was delicious! I ended up getting extra cabbage and rice. I was tired, so it was a satisfying meal. I later found out that there are many beef cutlet restaurants in Kyoto, like this one in Pontochō. You wouldn't know how to read it if you didn't know.

I usually keep my lunch budget under ¥1,000, but today I decided to treat myself at this restaurant that I always pass by. I went for the Rib Roast Cutlet lunch special for ¥1,280 (excluding tax). It came with my favorite barley rice and miso soup, and you can get free refills. The beef cutlet was rare and juicy, and they even explained the recommended way to eat it. I found that it tasted great with wasabi and soy sauce with dashi. The sansho salt was also delicious. It was a satisfying lunch today! Thank you!

It's been a while since my niece invited me to go eat together. She suggested we go to the Sakaimachi branch for a comparison of beef cutlets. We sat at the counter and ordered the Greedy Beef Cutlet Assortment (2680 yen) with four types: tongue, fillet, rib roast, and loin, as well as the Black Wagyu Beef Cutlet Kyoto Tamazenzai (2480 yen). We shared these dishes between the two of us and were served a generous amount of food. With unlimited rice, miso soup, and vegetables, we were quite full by the end. Both dishes were delicious and worth the price, but the Greedy Beef Cutlet Assortment allowed for a better comparison. I had previously visited the Kyoto Station branch and found it to be just average, but this time, I was impressed by the delicious food. It was satisfying to see my niece's happy face as well!

The location of the restaurant seems to have changed... I visited for lunch the other day. It's a beef cutlet set meal restaurant. The service is good, but I was a little bothered by the lack of efficiency in the way the staff handled things. I ordered the beef cutlet loin set meal with grated ponzu sauce on top! Without any additional charge, it comes with wasabi, dashi, sansho pepper, sauce, and curry broth. The pieces are cut small so you can try various flavors, but it was best to eat it with the grated ponzu sauce or wasabi and dashi on top. I was able to enter the restaurant right at 12 noon on Saturday, but after that, it seemed like there were 1 or 2 groups waiting.

Kyoto Katsuchu for 1458 yen (with Kyoto rice). A powerful word for lunch in Kyoto's Pontocho district during the New Year. The alley still has few people passing by, giving off a New Year vibe. Upon entering, the interior is very Kyoto-style, which is to be expected in Kyoto. I enjoyed a bento box with almost raw rare meat cutlets. The dashi-infused hot spring egg can be poured over or dipped in the cutlets, but I decided to put everything into the bento box. The inside is mostly raw meat, so it's cold, but the cutlet's outer layer is warm. The contrast is delicious. I had a meal in Kyoto's Pontocho district on New Year's Day. January 2, 2019 visit. Yummy! Yummy! [Beef] Cutlet.

I went to lunch on a regular day. The place is in Kyoto, in Pontocho. Despite the location, it's not too crowded at lunchtime. The restaurant has a calm atmosphere with counter seats and table seats. The menu is the same as other chain stores. I ordered the 160-gram beef cutlet. The staff kindly informed me that rice refills are free and explained the different types of sauces and how to eat the dish. They mentioned that it only takes 60 seconds to fry. The food arrived quickly. The meal consisted of rice, miso soup, a large plate with beef cutlet and cabbage. The cabbage had dressing, and the cutlet could be eaten with salt, dashi soy sauce, sauce, curry, and even wasabi. After trying everything, I found that the wasabi with dashi soy sauce was the best. Overall, it was great for under 1,000 yen.

Today, I visited a restaurant that I had been curious about for a while, called "Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu" located a 5-minute walk from Gion-Shijo Station on the Keihan Main Line. The address is: 188 Zaimoku-cho, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture. Phone number: 075-251-7888. They do not have a parking lot. I had delicious gyukatsu there.
