Lunch today was a bento box from "Gohan-ya" (rice shop) (⌒∇⌒). Although I often pass by the shop, I had never tried it before. My husband ordered the Special Western-style bento for 850 yen (tonkatsu, shrimp fry, hamburger, fried chicken, tamagoyaki, deep-fried tofu, simmered hijiki seaweed, shumai, potato salad as two different types of sides and mains, pickles), while I had the Special Karaage bento for 600 yen (500 yen + SP 100 yen) (karaage, tamagoyaki, deep-fried tofu, simmered hijiki seaweed, fried shumai, potato salad). The bento boxes looked large and neatly arranged, and the dishes seemed like typical "packaged" items. The main dishes were freshly fried. The karaage was juicy and delicious, and my husband felt that he didn't need the special selection, just the regular main dish would have been fine. The portion of rice may not be enough for men, but you can add extra for 60 yen. Compared to major bento chain stores, the prices were slightly higher. It seemed like the larger chain stores put more effort into their rice. In times like these, bento shops like this are convenient for everyone, especially for those in the neighborhood. Thank you for the meal.

This is a delivery bento shop. You can upgrade any bento to "Special" for an additional 100 yen, which comes with fried chicken, dumplings, rolled omelet, and fish cake. I ordered the Kimchi fried chicken bento and upgraded it to Special, so I was able to compare it with the regular fried chicken. The flavor of soy sauce and ginger was quite nice. The Kimchi fried chicken is made with Kimchi, onions, and bean sprouts mixed with a sauce similar to noodle soup. It's like a simplified version of pork Kimchi without the pork, topped on fried chicken. The seasoning is suitable for rice, but it feels like something a student living alone might make. The price is also a bit questionable.
