Around 3 o'clock, I had tea after visiting Kiyomizu-dera. The street outside was crowded with people, but the inside of the shop was calm. The first floor was a pottery shop, and the second floor was a café. I ordered a matcha parfait. It was topped with rice crackers, fruit, and other toppings. There was also a shaved ice-like part inside, and it was delicious.

While grating walnuts myself, I wait for the soba noodles. It is recommended not to crush them too finely. Using a small tea strainer, you can easily scrape everything out of the narrow hollow of the mortar. Soba noodles with a hint of walnut flavor become a very high-quality delicacy, allowing you to enjoy an elegant moment. The contrast with the crowded approach to the restaurant adds a special atmosphere. Thank you for the meal.

I stopped by a shop on the way back from Kiyomizu-dera. I got some ginger soba noodles to warm up after getting wet in the rain. The dish had bamboo shoots and rapeseed flowers, giving it a spring-like taste. The ginger helped warm me up by the time I finished eating.

Since it's on the second floor, you can enjoy a view of the approach from the window, which is nice. My foreign friend who came with me was also very pleased. We had tempura of summer vegetables and green tea soba, which were delicious with a refreshing taste. The waiting time was not too long. I would like to visit again.

I stopped by on my way back from Kiyomizu-dera. The first floor offers pottery experiences and souvenirs. There is a restaurant on the second floor. There were many foreign tourists, and the person sitting next to me was also from overseas. The staff handled everything in English. I was surprised that the miso soup was made with white miso, but it had a gentle and delicious flavor. The tempura was crispy, the udon noodles were delicious, and I had a nice view by the window. The matcha tea was also delicious.

I ordered a lunch set of tea soba and duck breast at a pottery and cafe shop. The luxurious set came with tempura and tofu and was delicious. The duck breast was also very tasty. Now, I'm off to explore Kiyomizu-dera.

A Japanese restaurant located near Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto Prefecture. The menu includes soba, sushi, and set meals, although not very extensive, the prices are reasonable. I visited Kyoto early in the morning during peak autumn foliage season. This restaurant was open even slightly before 11 am, with only one group of customers. The first floor sells pottery while the restaurant is on the second floor. The view is nice with people passing by. I ordered the "Matcha Soba Set for 1300 yen", which comes with tempura and a side dish. The dashi broth in Kyoto never disappoints, with just the right richness for me. The tempura was crispy and the overall taste was well-balanced. The side dish, which seemed like tofu or maybe nama-fu, had a unique texture and was surprisingly delicious. The staff were friendly and welcoming, making it an easy place to visit in a touristy area.

I stopped by for lunch on my way to visit Kiyomizu-dera. I was originally looking for a good cup for Japanese sake at the Kiyomizu-yaki shop on the first floor, but then I noticed there was a restaurant on the second floor and decided to go in. I had the mackerel sushi set meal, and it was delicious. Considering it's a major tourist spot, I think it was good enough.

Kyoto sightseeing! Wherever you go, it's full of tourists. For lunch, we decided to eat around Kiyomizu Temple. We went to a tofu restaurant at 1:30 on a weekday, but it was so crowded that they told us we wouldn't have a seat until 3 o'clock. Oh well, let's give up on that. We first visited Kiyomizu Temple, and then went to "Charyo Kiraku" nearby. The restaurant was full of foreign customers, but luckily there was a seat available. I ordered the Cold Soba Set for 1300 yen, and my companion ordered the Assorted Sushi for 2200 yen. The food was served in about 14 minutes. I was so hungry, so of course it was delicious. The warm tempura was crispy, and the sweet potato was soft. I was happy with the two shrimp. The cold soba noodles were so smooth and satisfying. There was no soba dipping sauce provided. The sushi included 8 pieces, with the eel being quite large. The fatty tuna was also good. The rest was average. The miso soup was surprisingly sweet. The restaurant has a first floor selling Kyoto and Kiyomizu pottery, and the second floor is a restaurant with a view by the window. It was stylish and modern in a Japanese way. But it's definitely a restaurant with tourist prices.

My close friend from Sapporo came to play and we are going on a two-day trip to Kyoto and Nara to see the cherry blossoms. Today is the first day in Kyoto. We have been walking around since morning and got tired, so we took a break here during our visit to Kiyomizu Temple.
- Visit Date: April 9, 2016 (Saturday) / Morning
- Purpose: Having tea with my close friend
- Order: Kinraku Mochimochi Parfait (1200 yen)
- Order to Serving Time: Approximately 10 minutes
- Food Impression: The parfait is served in traditional Japanese dishware, with lots of green and brown colors giving it a dark appearance. As the name suggests, the parfait has a chewy texture with fried mochi, warabi mochi, and raw fu creating a mochi-mochi sensation. It was my first time trying a parfait with raw fu, and it was delicious especially when combined with the ice cream. It was quite sweet, so it was a bit tough towards the end, but I finished it all.
Recommended Point: The slope leading to Kiyomizu Temple doesn't have many resting spots, so this place is perfect for a break. Since we visited early, there were hardly any customers, but it was full when we left. We replenished our sugar levels with sweet treats and now we are ready to take lots of photos at Kiyomizu Temple. As self-proclaimed members of the camera club, we will be reviewing our food photos a bit more elegantly than usual.

We visited this place on a Saturday evening with a few people. The shop is located on the second floor of Asahido Honten, a craft shop near Kiyomizu Temple. It seems like it used to be a different shop as I couldn't find any information about it online. It seems to be a Kyoto-style shop with matcha as the main menu item. I ordered the "Matcha and Japanese sweets set," while others ordered the matcha parfait and another matcha dessert (I forgot the name!). I'm not very familiar with matcha, but even as an amateur, I found it easy to drink. The standout feature was the wonderful atmosphere of the shop. The interior was like a gallery with displayed ceramics and a water basin. The other customers were women in traditional Japanese clothing. It was a great place to fully enjoy the "Japanese" atmosphere. For someone like me who values atmosphere, this is a highly recommended shop.
