JR Yamashina Station is a 2-3 minute walk away. I entered the restaurant at 2:10 pm on Tuesday and found the place empty. I sat at the counter and ordered the shrimp curry for 1000 yen. It came with Fukujinzuke, pickled radish, and a raw egg yolk. The wait was minimal. The small shrimp, cut into bite-sized pieces, didn't have a strong shrimp flavor. The curry was not too spicy or sweet, appealing to most tastes. Mixing in the egg yolk gave it a mellow taste that I really enjoyed. It's a quick eat-and-go kind of place, similar to standing soba shops. I'd like to try the pork cutlet curry next time. However, if you prefer a relaxed dining atmosphere, this place may not be for you.

Long time no visit to Tokumasa. A shop opened near my home during the pandemic but closed soon after. Since then, I became a fan of Tokumasa but couldn't have it. I only bought Tokumasa curry udon at the supermarket. I always go to the Yamaashi store after my hospital shift, but it's always full at lunchtime so I can't get in. Today, I was able to leave early and entered the store as soon as it opened. I was hungry after work, so I had the pork cutlet curry. It tasted just like that delicious Tokumasa curry. It seemed a little spicier, but still very tasty. It seems that Tokumasa and Joto Curry are related stores. Personally, I might prefer Tokumasa.

I visited here while on a business trip nearby. I have had curry udon at Tokucho many times before, but this was my first time trying their curry rice! It had a different taste compared to Fukushimajoto Curry. It might be even better with a bit more punch.

Weekend lunch: Today I went to Toku Masu for curry near Yamashina Station. The restaurant only has a counter, and I ordered the tonkatsu curry. The efficient chef prepared it for me, and when I tasted it, I was impressed by the spiciness. It was delicious. I highly recommend it.

There was a fire and smoke coming from the train tracks, so JR wasn't running, which meant it would take 2 hours to get back to Osaka Station. Feeling tired, I decided to eat curry before heading home. I ordered the tonkatsu curry with extra large serving of roux. The curry from Tastes is soothing. It's tricky to know when to add the egg yolk, but it's delicious as always.

Today I had some errands in Yamashina, so I decided to eat curry here after a long time! I arrived around 11:10 and had to wait a bit, but I was able to enter the restaurant quickly. The staff were very efficient and the food was served quickly. There were only counter seats, maybe around 12 or 11 seats. Even while I was eating, there was quite a line outside. The curry was uniformly spicy, a little hot but still manageable. Even my kids were able to eat it, although they were sweating a bit. It was delicious!

Curry rice specialty store "Tokumasa Yamashina store". The shop is a 2-minute walk from Yamashina Station and faces the Tokaido. I had heard that the curry here is "sweet and spicy". The seating is only counter table seats. I ordered the "Croquette Curry with Egg" (880 yen). All the curries at this store come with an egg. The plate has the name "Joto Curry" on it. Upon researching, it seems that "Tokumasa" and "Joto Curry" are operated by the same company. The curry is poured over the rice and then the croquette is placed on top. The egg yolk is served separately in a dish. The curry is a Japanese-style roux curry. It is a thick yellowish color, with a thick soup-like consistency. There are no solid chunks of ingredients. There are blackish short fibrous scraps mixed in. It seems to be the remnants of finely ground and fried meat and vegetables. The croquette has a crispy and hard fried coating. The rice is short-grain rice. It is cooked firm and does not get soggy even when mixed with curry. It has a firm texture. In Eastern Japan, boiled eggs are often used as toppings, but in Kansai, raw eggs like this are more common. Although using raw eggs, especially only the yolk, may seem a bit rustic, the intention or preference behind it is somewhat understandable. I tasted the curry rice without the egg at first, and then added the egg later, breaking it and mixing it in. The promotional text from the restaurant about the taste of this curry rice is as follows: "Customers who try Tokumasa's curry for the first time all say 'This curry is sweet'. However, that 'complacency' is short-lived, as a pleasant spiciness soon spreads from the mouth to the back of the throat. It is not just a curry that is simply spicy, nor is it a weirdly sweet curry. By skillfully harmonizing the seemingly conflicting flavors of 'spiciness' and 'sweetness', a deep and lingering curry roux is created for the first time." Indeed, it was slightly sweet, but it did not have an artificial sweetness and gave off a subdued impression. The spiciness only started to come through gently towards the end. It seemed like they had skillfully tamed and balanced the potentially unruly flavors to create a cohesive taste. However, if you eat absentmindedly, the lack of clarity and contrast in the taste may be apparent. It's a curry rice that would be a waste if not savored with a clear mind and seriousness.

Hello, it's Curry Uncle ( ̄Д ̄)ノ Today, I came to Yamashina Station in Kyoto in search of delicious curry that I found while surfing the net. The shop that caught my eye was #Tokusei Yamashina Store (26 Anju Minamiyashiki-cho, Yamashina-ku, Kyoto City). The curry with tonkatsu and raw egg looked delicious, so I arrived 10 minutes before opening. I checked the menu outside the shop ( ᯣωᯣ )ジィーー and decided to go for the Tonkatsu Curry for 1000 yen (with raw egg). As soon as it opened, I entered the shop. There were about 8 counter seats, so I sat at the end of the counter. I ordered the Tonkatsu Curry (large serving) for 1200 yen, with extra rice for 200 yen. Other customers also ordered the Tonkatsu Curry. After a while, the Tonkatsu Curry (large serving) for 1200 yen arrived. The tonkatsu was generously covered with curry sauce. It came with raw egg, pickled radish, and fukujinzuke. I dug in and the spiciness gradually kicked in, just the right amount of heat. The tonkatsu wasn't too heavy and went down smoothly. (*´Д`)イケル!イケル! Towards the end, I mixed in the raw egg yolk and finished with a sweet touch. The tonkatsu curry had a perfect balance of flavors and spiciness. Everyone was quietly enjoying their meal. It's a tonkatsu curry that would appeal to everyone. It was delicious, thank you for the meal.

I wanted to eat Toku-san's curry after a long time, so I finished drinking early and entered the restaurant just before closing. The slightly spicy curry with crispy cutlet on top was excellent. The addition of a raw egg on top was a nice touch. Thank you for the delicious meal.

A curry specialty restaurant near Yamashina Station. It's a small shop with only a counter, but the interior and the staff exude cleanliness. Upon entering, a tray with fukujinzuke, rakkyo, and a raw egg yolk is served. I ordered the most popular tonkatsu curry. The curry was light with the egg yolk blending in, and the crispy tonkatsu was delicious. The flavors were simple but tasty. I finished it in no time.

This classic curry rice has a taste that is nostalgic and familiar. I tried the curry with tonkatsu and shrimp fry for 1000 yen (tax included). I also had the croquette curry for 880 yen (tax included), which had a taste that reminded me of something I had eaten before. The spiciness is not extremely hot, but it builds up as you eat, causing you to sweat from your scalp. I don't often go to Yamashina, but if I ever visit the temples there, I would definitely stop by this restaurant.

I came here for the first time in 12 years. When I used to work in Yamashina, I would eat this curry almost every day. I wonder how many bowls I've had. The first bite has a sweet taste that spreads, followed by spiciness. The toppings are tonkatsu and eggplant or croquette and eggplant. The tonkatsu is crispy and tender. I love the fried eggplant too. If you want to change the taste halfway through, adding egg yolk makes it milder. You can't choose the level of spiciness, so if you don't like spicy food or if you have kids, adding cheese or egg yolk can make it milder, but it's generally spicy. It might not be spicy enough for those who love extremely spicy food, but the curry here is truly delicious and has a addictive taste.

I visited after a long time. The two owners were still running the place just like before. They were efficient and provided good customer service. The restaurant was clean and tidy. I ordered the tonkatsu with extra toppings, which cost 1,300 yen. The tonkatsu was crispy and cut into bite-sized pieces. Despite usually enjoying spicy food, I didn't find it too spicy this time, haha. It was delicious.

Curry specialty restaurant. We visited as a group of two and sat at the Japanese-style counter seats. The interior was clean and filled with the delicious aroma of curry. We ordered katsu curry and menchi katsu curry, each with toppings split in half. It was so tasty! Although the portion seemed large, we finished it all in no time. The cheese topping added just the right amount of spiciness and richness. It was so delicious that we could even ask for seconds.

It's a good smell when passing by ★ Curry Tokusei Mineyama Branch ★ Lured in and entered ★ Tonkatsu Curry for 950 yen. A large plate with a large tonkatsu cut into bite-sized pieces. ★ The curry has a unified spiciness with a hint of spice. It's not too spicy, so you can eat it comfortably. To soften the spiciness, you can add raw egg or cheese. The interior of the restaurant has only a counter, but I was able to sit on a weekday lunch. It took 20 minutes from ordering to finishing the meal. Perfect for a quick lunch for office workers. There were only men on this day, so it felt like a men's world. The interior and menu seem more geared towards men. It's not a place for chatting, more like eat curry and leave quickly. It seems like chatting is discouraged for COVID-19 prevention measures. It feels like the main focus is on men having lunch alone. That's why it's a men's world ★ Near Mineyama Station. Behind the Osho Mineyama Branch. Just east of the crossroads north of Rakuto.

Located 1-2 minutes on foot from Yamashina Station in Kyoto, Toku Masu is a curry specialty store. The shop has a counter seat in the shape of a "コ" where you can easily stop by alone. I ordered the famous tonkatsu curry for 950 yen, and it came with a raw egg yolk on top! The tonkatsu, freshly fried and cut into bite-sized pieces, is topped with a raw egg yolk in the center, which you can mix in while eating. The curry here is a sweet and savory curry rice that doesn't have an overpowering amount of spices, making it likely to be enjoyed by everyone. I was able to enter without waiting in line. It was delicious! If you think it's a good restaurant, make sure to save it now so you don't forget. ☝️

I was impressed by the thorough infection prevention measures at the counter. I opted for a simple curry for 750 yen, which came with a raw egg, pickled radish, and fukujinzuke. The curry was not too spicy and easy to eat. I enjoyed the balance between the rice and curry, it was delicious.

I visited the restaurant around 9:15 PM on a regular Thursday. The interior was only a counter, and the menu options were curry with tonkatsu, minced cutlet (not menchi), or eggplant, with choices like regular or large size. I wasn't very hungry, so I ordered the regular size minced cutlet curry. It arrived in about 5 minutes and looked delicious! The taste was sweet with a hint of fruitiness and a bit of spiciness, just right. It might not be spicy enough for those who love spicy food. The minced cutlet was cut into 8 pieces, crispy on the outside and tender inside. I finished it all and I was satisfied.

The people around me ordered Nasu curry! Is it the most popular dish here? The tonkatsu is fried well and cut into crispy slices! The thin slices go well with the curry! Yummy~ The restaurant is not far from Yamashina Station and was quite busy! (*⁰▿⁰*)

It was just about lunchtime and I felt like eating something. I checked on Tabelog and found a popular curry restaurant nearby. When I arrived, it was almost full, but luckily I got a seat. I ordered the Tonkatsu Curry in large size for 1,150 yen. The portion size was generous, but the taste was average. The pork cutlet was thin and the raw egg topping was good, but the curry base was lacking, making the overall flavor dull. I felt that the curry at another restaurant was better. Despite the disappointing food, I liked the efficient and friendly service of the staff.
