The glass at the entrance had the story of the shop's origin written on it, which was quite philosophical about a sand hill and sand grains. Outside the cafe space, there were books displayed in stacks, but as it was my first time, I didn't understand the system. It seems like they are recommended books. The glass walls allowed me to peek inside while waiting, and the interior was quite spacious, divided into several corners with different tables and chairs in each. The overall interior was classical, with spaces like comfortable deep sofas, regular coffee tables, single-person study room-like spaces, and magazines displayed on bookshelves. It was interesting. After about 30 minutes, my name was called, and I was led to the back corner, the only bright space with sunlight coming in. Unfortunately, I couldn't choose my favorite corner due to the waiting line. I ordered my favorite pancake for 580 yen with a whipped cream topping for 110 yen, and the original blend coffee for 500 yen, all excluding tax. The cost performance was very good. The large pitcher of maple syrup that came with the pancake was delightful, and it was very delicious. The coffee was of a strong bitter type. It seems that the place has become popular due to media coverage and has become crowded, so there is a 2-hour time limit. If the atmosphere is so relaxing, I could stay for a long time alone. It's a cafe that I would like to use frequently if it's nearby. I would like to try aiming for lunchtime the next time I visit.

The pancake was fluffy and quite large, so it's better to share it with someone. It was a bit crumbly, but it didn't bother me much as I dipped it in my cafe au lait.笑

Plus, they are open until 10 pm, which is convenient. It's not a fixed-price system, so you can just order drinks and enjoy the cafe atmosphere without any pressure. The seating is ample, with options for solo seats and table seats, making it suitable for reading alone or with someone else. The menu offers a variety of drinks and food at reasonable prices for Ikebukuro, and the desserts are delicious, especially the classical pudding I had on this day. It's slightly small but has a smooth texture with a caramel sauce on the side, allowing you to adjust the sweetness to your liking. The interior is stylish, and the unique system of receiving a key instead of a bill adds a playful touch. However, the cafe has become quite popular recently, so there may be a wait during certain times, especially on weekends and holidays. I recommend going during less crowded hours to enjoy a relaxing experience. Personally, I find evenings on weekends and holidays to be a good time to visit. On this particular day, I went on a weekday evening and was able to enter without much of a wait. The staff are friendly and make the experience enjoyable.

The books are wrapped, with only a summary or review visible. You can purchase them based on that alone. I had visited before and even though there was a wait, I was seated fairly quickly. My companion ordered the Omurice, but the sauce was lightly drizzled making it hard to take a good picture. However, the taste was good. While the food and desserts are not particularly outstanding, I enjoy the atmosphere and it's my favorite place to relax or pass the time. During busy times, there is a 2-hour time limit for seating.

On Sunday, I took a walk to Ikebukuro while doing some pre-reading for my research. In the evening, feeling hungry, I searched for a restaurant and decided to try the tonkatsu at "Marushichi" on my way. However, I ended up stopping by "Fukurou Shobou" which I had been curious about for a while. I liked the situation and concept of the place, so I found myself waiting in line to make a reservation. I ordered an "Ice Fruit Tea" and "Pancakes." It was delicious.

The concept, atmosphere, and unique features of this place are interesting. It's a cozy spot that is recommended for reading or light studying. However, unfortunately, the air conditioning is not working at all. I sat at a table near the counter and the room temperature made me sweat slightly. I asked for an adjustment, but was told that the temperature was already set to the lowest. I hope they make more effort to improve as a cafe.

Entering the store, the seat on the left back where Tobu can be seen is hot and the worst. I understand that it's busy, but if they don't respond properly, the atmosphere and comfort are the worst. It's true that I couldn't stop sweating, but finally on the third try, I was able to get assistance from someone higher up and move. I hope they read this comment and make improvements. The customer sitting next to me also said it was hot, so I want them to recognize that customers are not just looking for taste and price. What sets it apart from regular bookstores is that the titles are hidden by book covers, with the introduction written on the cover for choosing books. It took me a little time to understand the system. I was taken there by a student. The seating inside the shop is designed with four themes. You can choose based on your mood that day. 1. "Enjoy coffee and food" area. - Parfait - Drink - French fries This is not a place to have high expectations for food, but to enjoy the overall experience at Shobou. I hope it becomes like the Japanese version of Barnes & Noble. I had a great time. I didn't end up buying any books that day after much deliberation, so next time I will visit the 3. When you pour a lot of maple syrup on it, French toast tastes incredibly delicious. It goes perfectly with a rich coffee. The atmosphere is great too, as they manage orders with keys instead of receipts.

I ordered Arrabbiata! It was slightly spicy, indicated by the "HOT" in the menu name. (I wish it was a bit spicier.) The taste was excellent! But surprisingly, the portion was quite large...
