I bought various souvenirs for my son's school trip with a budget of 15,000 yen. I had to eat the nama yatsuhashi first, so I left the hard ones for later. The orange ones are the traditional flavor, and the brown ones are surprisingly coffee-flavored. There are so many varieties now. It made me want to visit Kyoto and Nara again after a long time.

Midsummer, currently updating, what's with 80 days? I think Japanese sweets are better than Western sweets. The cinnamon accent in these fresh Yatsuhashi is irresistible. Today is my sister and cousin's birthday, yay! They said it would be embarrassing to send a movie mail to Hime using emoticons. The contrast between being lively and feeling down is so stark. This new summer version of Yatsuhashi was devoured in no time when we all ate it together. It's not just lingering summer heat, it's over 30 degrees? Finally, a mosquito flew in but it's too hot, it seems to be suffering from summer fatigue as well, it's just sitting there. It's true, I paid it no mind and it fell to the floor and I accidentally stepped on it and it passed away. I didn't get bitten though (*_*)

I received a box of Yatsuhashi from this shop, which I had received from multiple branches in the past, as a souvenir again, so I decided to write a review. This time, I received a box containing four different flavors: black sesame, traditional, matcha, and strawberry. Upon trying them, I found that the Yatsuhashi was moist and not too sweet, just as expected. Yatsuhashi can be divided into two types: one with moist skin and a good amount of sweetness in the skin itself, and another with less moisture and a stronger sweetness in the skin. Personally, I prefer the former, and this shop specializes in moist Yatsuhashi. Furthermore, each type of skin has a distinct aroma, with the regular skin, sesame skin, and matcha skin having different flavors and scents. The filling also has a strong aroma, but the sweetness is not overpowering, leaving a lingering aftertaste of the Yatsuhashi's aroma rather than sweetness. I was impressed by how the shop expanded the variety of Yatsuhashi flavors while keeping the sweetness in check and focusing on the essence of Yatsuhashi.

My daughter loves Yatsuhashi, so I bought "Sakuraka Koto no Haru" on my way home from work. It contains five pieces each of cinnamon and matcha flavors. Cinnamon is the typical plain flavor. Matcha has a nice modern twist to it. It's better than chocolate or strawberry flavors, right?

I received this as a gift from a friend who went back to their hometown. When it comes to Kyoto sweets, all I can think of is Yatsuhashi. It's the safest choice for a souvenir. The fresh Yatsuhashi has a unique scent and a chewy skin texture that is interesting. It goes well with the sweet bean paste and tastes delicious.

When it comes to Kyoto sweets, the first thing that comes to mind for me is Yatsuhashi. I bought the 10-piece set of Yatsuhashi with red bean paste filling from a long-established shop with 300 years of history. I later learned that Yatsuhashi is made by steaming and baking a mixture of rice flour, sugar, and cinnamon into a shape resembling a koto instrument. The ones with red bean paste filling are called "Nama Yatsuhashi". I used to avoid eating them, but now I realize how delicious they are. The chewy texture of Nama Yatsuhashi is great, and it pairs well with the red bean paste filling. I now understand why they are so popular.

After finishing work in Nara and heading back to Kyoto, I made sure not to miss the limited express train that runs only twice an hour. I quickly bought some persimmon sweets at Vieira Nara 2F and headed back to Kyoto. I also bought some "Mimuro" sweets. I wanted to buy another souvenir, but if I missed the train by one stop, I would have to wait 30 minutes, so I decided to buy some Kyoto-style "Nama Yatsuhashi" in Kyoto instead. I chose the popular "Koto no Fuyu" from Seigoin Yatsuhashi, which cost 594 yen for a pack of 10. The packaging represents the seasons: Koto no Haru (Spring), Koto no Fuyu (Winter), Koto no Aki (Autumn), Koto no Natsu (Summer), and Koto no Shoka (Early Summer). The Yatsuhashi was soft and filled with sweet red bean paste, wrapped in cinnamon and matcha. The cinnamon flavor overpowered the matcha, but overall, it was decent. My child, who ate it as a souvenir, said it was just right, with nothing standing out too much. The combination of matcha and cinnamon was interesting and could be enjoyed as a daily snack. I would rate it 75 out of 100. Seigoin Yatsuhashi Main Store was established in 1689 and became a corporation in 1926. In 1967, they released the popular red bean paste-filled Yatsuhashi called "Sei."

I visited here at THE CUBE outside the north exit of Kyoto Station. It's a fierce battleground with four companies selling Yatsuhashi and Otabe packed side by side. It's crowded with tourists. I had the "Fresh Yatsuhashi Matcha Assortment." It's a reliable choice.

When returning from Kyoto to Tokyo, I bought these small packs of Yatsuhashi for home use. This time, I got two flavors: cinnamon and matcha. The perfect balance of the soft Yatsuhashi dough and the sweet bean paste is delicious. Each pack contains about 5 pieces, which is quite satisfying in terms of volume.

Located in The CUBE, a specialty shop at Kyoto Station Building in Shijo-Karasuma, Higashishio-koji-cho, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto, is the main store of Kyoto's famous souvenir shop, Seigoin Yatsuhashi. They offer a special spring festival treat called "Koto no Haru" which is a Yatsuhashi with red bean paste filling. The history of Yatsuhashi dates back to the Edo period when it was created in honor of Yatsuhashi Kengyo, the founder of modern koto music. The red bean paste filling is carefully cooked to just the right sweetness and wrapped in a soft Yatsuhashi made with cinnamon and matcha. Additionally, they also offer a special set of Yatsuhashi with cinnamon and matcha flavors. The Yatsuhashi is made using Japanese cinnamon, which is different from regular cinnamon as it is made from the roots of the plant. The refreshing aroma of Japanese cinnamon combined with the matcha flavor creates a delicious treat that you won't want to miss. Visit Eternal Rose for more photos and details. Thank you for reading.

I stopped by to buy Yatsuhashi for a colleague who loves fresh ones. It is said to have been founded in the second year of the Meiji era, so I thought it must be delicious, and I also got some for myself! They are the perfect size for a snack. I don't dislike cinnamon, so I ended up eating too much. I finished one box with my family and another box by myself! I should have bought another box. Thank you for the delicious treat.

Seasonal chestnut-filled Yatsuhashi at 550 yen is delicious. The soft mochi is wrapped around a soft chestnut filling. Highly recommended!

A summer limited edition confectionery in an elegant box. It consists of round, transparent, jelly-like balls made of agar with a cinnamon flavor and black sugar sprinkled on top. The transparency is beautiful. It is a refreshing treat for the hot summer, as described in The Pillow Book. It is called "Ishi-suzumi." Of course, I also like the crispy and sweet Yatsuhashi. I remember that my father used to bring back orange tin Yatsuhashi as a souvenir from his business trips. It's a nostalgic treat.

I don't usually buy Yatsuhashi, but I couldn't resist purchasing it this time because it was so cute. What caught my eye was the Gion Festival limited edition fresh Yatsuhashi. The packaging is simple yet elegant, and when you open it, you see four cute Yatsuhashi with beautiful designs lined up. The thin mint blue skin is wrapped around white anko, and the tea-colored skin is wrapped around strained anko. I thought this cuteness and coloring might have been added with elements from nikiniki by Seigoin Yatsuhashi. Many people seemed to find it perfect as a souvenir, as they were grabbing multiple pieces by themselves, and the product was quickly running out. Easy reservation availability - Likelihood of revisiting - I'm not a fan of Yatsuhashi, but I would like to stop by during this time of limited edition products. Thank you for the meal!

On this day, I strolled around Kyoto with my wife. After returning from our Kyoto stroll, we arrived at Kyoto Station where my wife bought souvenirs. She purchased the following items at The CUBE on the 1st floor of Kyoto Station:
- Canele: 540 yen
She thought it was a unique type of Yatsuhashi (traditional Kyoto sweet) when she purchased it. When we got home, we had it as a snack. The Canele comes in a stylish package. When you open the box, you will find 12 Canele sticks wrapped in ribbons. Visually, it looks like a thin, coffee-flavored Yatsuhashi dough rolled into small sticks and baked. When you taste it, you can also sense a cinnamon flavor, but the coffee flavor is quite strong. It turned out to be a hit, considering my wife's choice. It was the number one among the souvenirs she picked this time. So, I brought it as the finale of the souvenirs chosen by my wife series. Yatsuhashi specialty stores need to continue developing various products to differentiate themselves. Thank you for the meal!

jr and his friends went on a school trip to Kyoto and Nara. They bought two boxes of Yatsuhashi each, totaling four boxes of souvenirs. When they returned, we suddenly had four boxes of Yatsuhashi at home in one day, but luckily they were all different flavors. Upon researching, I found that Seigoin Yatsuhashi is one of the oldest and most historic shops for Yatsuhashi. Interestingly, they also offer a chocolate Yatsuhashi due to recent trends. The Seigoin Yatsuhashi Chocolate costs 648 yen and is described as "French cocoa-flavored Yatsuhashi filled with chocolate bean paste. Enjoy the unique sweetness of chocolate and the fragrant bitterness of cocoa, combined with the aroma and gentle texture of Yatsuhashi." It may be considered a fusion of traditional Japanese and Western sweets, but the taste is actually quite good. Overall, it's a fine blend of flavors. Thank you for the meal!

There is a shop that sells just the skin of fresh Yatsuhashi, which is perfect for me as I'm not a big fan of sweet bean paste. They also sell the traditional Yatsuhashi with sweet bean paste, which is safe for souvenirs. I bought a box of 4 different flavors for around 1,000 yen, which is quite cheap. The flavors included matcha, cinnamon, black sesame, and yuzu (I wonder if yuzu is a winter flavor?). Personally, I found the yuzu flavor too strong, almost like eating a toilet air freshener (laughs). I didn't like the black sesame either. The best flavor was definitely the classic cinnamon! I personally prefer the strawberry and cherry blossom flavors in spring.

I took the Hankyu train from Osaka to Kyoto in the morning, but my day started with a wasted trip. Since I was already in Kyoto, I decided to explore the station building and came across TheCUBE Kyoto Kanmi 15th Store. I thought it was a store I had visited before at their main branch. They had a variety of original flavors for their Hachitama sweets, but I prefer simple flavors, so I chose the original flavor with a hint of cinnamon and the matcha flavor set. Each had two pieces and a one-week shelf life. They were delicious.

When you think of Kyoto, you think of Yatsuhashi, right? I bought some with pumpkin and chestnut flavors that are unique to this season. When I got home, I tried the pumpkin paste one and it was delicious - not too sweet and very comforting. The skin was chewy and stretchy, so be careful when eating it. The combination of the matcha-colored skin and the orange pumpkin paste was really good. We also tried the chestnut flavor with chopped chestnuts inside, perfect for sharing with a group. They also have a strawberry flavor, so you can enjoy different variations.
