When you're thirsty, drinking carbonated water tastes good, right? But you get thirsty again quickly.
The slight acidity of #coffee is really refreshing when you're thirsty.

Blue Bottle Coffee has a great atmosphere. Located in a corner of the bicycle shop "Tsujimori Bicycle Store" founded in the late Meiji era. The Matcha Terrine Chocolat, exclusive to this store, has a rich taste that provides a satisfying experience even in its small size. The combination with coffee was excellent. This is a shop where you'll want to stop by for a break during sightseeing.

I happened to pass by this cafe while looking for one, so I decided to go in. I ordered a Liege waffle and a meat pie ice mocha. The Liege waffle was served warm and had a subtle sweetness to it. The meat pie was a small size, about 10 cm square, with a good amount of meat filling that was relatively light and easy to eat. The mocha was recommended to me as a sweet drink option, and it was a cocoa-flavored drink with chocolate in it. It was served in a glass for dine-in customers. I was also considering a macchiato, but I was told it is served in an espresso cup and is quite bitter. You order on the first floor and can dine in on the second floor, where there are also single seating options along the walls. The cafe is in a traditional Kyoto-style building with wooden and earthen walls, creating a Kyoto-like atmosphere.

When it comes to Blue Bottle Coffee, it started in Tokyo and has expanded to Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, and other cities. In Tokyo, they have a unique way of opening stores in trendy neighborhoods with high land prices. Each store has a very stylish interior design. However, today's store was different - it was located in a traditional Japanese house that was left mostly unchanged. They only did the minimum renovation. This unconventional approach is quite interesting. I ordered the Gibraltar, which I have tried at a Blue Bottle Coffee in Tokyo before. It's just the right temperature for this spring season.

The atmosphere of the shop was very nice, fitting with the streets of Kyoto. I love the aroma of the coffee at Bulb. Both the cafe latte and black coffee had a refreshing aftertaste, perfect for a hot day! I would love to visit again when I go to Kyoto.

Renovated old traditional house turned into a stylish coffee stand in Kyoto, Karasuma Oike. Each store has a different menu, which is exciting. Café Latte 627 yen with cute swan and tulip latte art - consistently delicious. Matcha Terrine Chocolat 352 yen made with abundant Kyoto tea from the traditional tea shop, Rishoen Chaho. A white chocolate base with a rich matcha flavor, complemented by a hint of sansho pepper from the moist and rich bottom crust. Eat-in only. A perfect combination of coffee and a little dessert. Small but highly satisfying. Blue Bottle Café in Kyoto Rokkaku. #KarasumaOikeCafe #KarasumaOikeGourmet #BlueBottleCoffee #ShijoCafe #ShijoGourmet #KarasumaOike.

On a holiday (opening at 9:00), when I arrived around 9:05, there were already about five people waiting in line. Since there was a line, I was told that it would take about 15 minutes to get coffee, so I opted for lemonade in the cold winter sky (laughs). The staff was indeed polite and kind! The exterior design, which is not found in Tokyo, was very lovely. The lemonade was also delicious.

I was torn between this shop and another, but I decided to visit this one on a holiday afternoon around 2:30pm because the atmosphere seemed nice. There were about two groups ahead of me, but I was able to wait on a chair inside the shop. The first floor of the shop is a store selling coffee, sweets, and goods. The second floor, which is surprisingly spacious, is a cafe renovated from an old house, where you can relax while enjoying the view outside from the windows. I had a Cardamom Spice Latte, and my daughter had a Cafe Latte. We also shared Kyoto-exclusive Matcha Terrine Chocolate and Orange Country Cake. The Cardamom Spice Latte had a hint of spice which gave it an adult-like flavor and paired well with the sweet desserts! The Matcha Terrine Chocolate was rich and the sweetness of white chocolate balanced nicely with the bitterness of matcha, making it delicious when paired with coffee. The Orange Country Cake was unexpectedly moist and not too dry, providing a refreshing contrast to the terrine. I heard that their sheep-shaped cookies are delicious, so I would like to try them next time!!!

♡【Blue Bottle Coffee Kyoto Rokkaku Cafe】♡ Kyoto ❤︎ Located in Karasuma ♡ Cafe Latte ¥627 ♡ Blue Bottle Coffee carefully extracts beans sourced directly from contracted farmers by skilled baristas. The warm and inviting atmosphere of the cafe, with Kyoto-produced Kitayama cedar handrails and wooden fixtures inherited from machiya townhouses blending seamlessly with antique furniture collected from around the world, is a unique charm of the Kyoto Rokkaku Cafe. This time, I ordered the Kyoto-exclusive item "Matcha Terrine Chocolat" - a quite mini-sized treat that seems like you could eat it in one bite ^_− ☆ haha. However, I savored it slowly bite by bite ⸝⸝o̴̶̷̥᷅ ̫ o̴̶̷̥᷅⸝⸝. It had a texture like raw chocolate, a slightly bitter and sweet matcha terrine ⸜(*˙꒳˙*)⸝, which paired perfectly with the cafe latte ٩(ᵔᗜᵔ*)و♡ Although I was lucky with the timing, when I left the shop, there was a long line due to the weekend crowd, so it's recommended to go with some extra time. However, you can forget about the hustle and bustle of the city and relax, so I highly recommend it~ჱ̒⸝⸝•̀֊•́⸝⸝)♡♡

On the first day of my trip to Kyoto, I finally had the chance to visit the Blue Bottle Coffee Kyoto Karasuma Cafe that I had been curious about for a while. I ordered a hot Americano for 550 yen and a Holiday Cardamom Latte for 781 yen. I went upstairs to enjoy my drinks, and was surprised by how spacious it was! The Americano had a refreshing acidity, perfect for relaxing and taking your time to savor it.

Visited on Saturday at 9:30 am. There were no other customers, so it was a private visit. I entered and placed my order and paid at the counter on the first floor. I picked up my food on the first floor and then went up to the second floor. I received my drink at the counter on the second floor, and when I finished eating, I returned the dishes to the designated area. This time, I ordered the following:
- Cafe Latte HOT (627 yen)
- Matcha Terrine Chocolate (352 yen)
I originally visited to try the limited edition An Butter Sandwich at the Kyoto Rokkaku Cafe, but unfortunately, it was sold out. So, I decided to try the Kyoto-exclusive Matcha Terrine Chocolate instead. I had tried it before at a Kyoto cafe in Kiyamachi, and it was delicious as always. It's a unique matcha dessert with a hint of sansho pepper. If you ever visit the Blue Bottle Cafe in Kyoto, be sure to try it!
The Kyoto Rokkaku Cafe is housed in a renovated machiya (traditional townhouse), giving it a cozy and traditional atmosphere. The staff were friendly and even allowed me to take photos inside the store. With plenty of seating and Wi-Fi available, it's a great place to relax and enjoy your time.

On July 23, 2022, during the day, I stopped by Nora Cola and had a Nora Cola for 660 yen and a seasonal pound cake for 473 yen. It was a nice break while walking around, the drinks were interesting, and the atmosphere was cozy. HASH-ROYAL's Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter accounts are also worth checking out.

From Karasuma-Oike in Kyoto, passing by Rokkaku-do, and heading further east, you will come across a peculiar machiya (traditional townhouse) on the right side, with a bicycle shop on the left. This shop is a long-established store that was founded in the late Meiji period. On the right side, there appears to be a cafe-style establishment, with a focus on coffee. Looking up, you will see a second floor for dining in, and upon closer inspection, you will notice the familiar Blue Bottle logo. This is the second Blue Bottle Coffee shop in Kyoto, known as Kyoto Rokkaku Cafe. Additionally, they collaborate with Kyoto's famous confectionery shop, Kyoto Tsu-an, offering treats like yokan (sweet bean jelly). It's a good place to take a break before the city starts to come alive. The view from the second floor allows you to witness the gradual changes in the cityscape. In this area, the "navel stone" of Rokkaku-do is said to be the center of Kyoto. However, the cityscape is slowly evolving, surrounded by office buildings and commercial facilities, with the hexagonal main hall of Rokkaku-do standing out. This temple was founded by Prince Shotoku in 587, making it a place of historical significance.
- Hot Chocolate: 650 yen
- Pink Pepper Shortbread: 235 yen
- Maple Vegan Blondie: 300 yen

[Kyoto Travel #4] "Blue Bottle Coffee Kyoto Rokkaku Cafe" ◇ Matcha Terrine Chocolat (KYOTO SPECIAL) ◇ Cold Brew ◇ Drip Coffee Located in a corner of a bicycle shop, this cafe is a renovated traditional Kyoto townhouse. You order on the 1st floor, with seating for about 25 people on the 2nd floor. This time, I picked up the terrine and cold brew on the 1st floor, and they brewed the drip coffee for me on the 2nd floor. (^^)

Visited the second Blue Bottle Coffee shop in Kyoto. The renovated traditional Kyoto townhouse exudes a Japanese atmosphere, which is quite impressive. I wanted to try their blend or cappuccino, but the recent summer-like heat made me opt for an iced Americano instead. It had a nice bitterness and was refreshing, perfect for a hot day. The Maple Pecan Blondie is an American pastry that resembles a white chocolate brownie. It was dense yet moist, with a hint of honey and nuts creating a fragrant and slightly sweet taste with a touch of saltiness. Just like when I visited their store in Nanzenji, Blue Bottle Coffee not only serves great coffee but also delicious pastries. Thank you for the meal.

Blue Bottle, a cafe that renovated a bicycle shop that had been around for 100 years since the late Meiji era. I was drawn to its innovative architectural design with bicycles attached. You order and pay on the first floor, then take a slightly steep staircase to the second floor where you immediately receive your latte at the coffee counter on the left. The beautifully drawn art was a nice touch. I enjoyed a cute and delicious red bean butter pastry and had a relaxing time there.

Blue Bottle Coffee opened a branch in the middle of Kyoto. It brings back personal memories because I've had my bike repaired for a flat tire multiple times at the bike shop here (laughs). It's interesting how a trendy coffee shop has come to coexist with it. The place is overflowing with customers, and the only available seats are on the terrace. Well, it's nice to drink warm coffee outside. So, I ordered a cafe latte. Blue Bottle Coffee always has a nice interior and good service from the staff at all their stores. As for the taste, well, it's subjective. It's not bad at all.

I found this place on a humid and muggy day and decided to visit. It was around 10 o'clock, so there weren't many people, and I decided to enjoy my coffee inside the shop. I ordered at the entrance and was told that seating was available on the second floor. The price seemed a bit high to me, maybe because I'm from the countryside – around 500 yen for a blend. I was recommended to try it black to fully enjoy the aroma, and I must say, it did smell really good. It had a slight acidity, so it might not be to everyone's taste, but I personally liked it. I spent my time comfortably looking out the window and watching people pass by without making eye contact, so the second-floor seating was nice. I guess you're paying for the atmosphere as well. They had some cute items with their logo on them, like eco bags, which I'm still considering buying (laughs). Thank you for the meal.

Visited the famous Blue Bottle Coffee for the first time and ordered an iced espresso with their regular blend beans. It had a mild bitterness and a refreshing taste, making it suitable even for those who don't like strong coffee. You order on the first floor and pick up on the second floor, and the atmosphere of the traditional Kyoto-style building adds to the charm. Since it was a weekday afternoon, there were hardly any other customers, allowing me to relax and enjoy the experience.

I had an An Butter Sandwich at Blue Bottle Coffee in the street. The high-quality butter was just right, not too heavy. The slightly acidic Cold Brew paired perfectly. It was 35°C outside, but inside the store was comfortably cool. A very pleasant experience!
