On October 1, 2021, finally the state of emergency was lifted, so I went to eat right away. The atmosphere of the restaurant was as good as ever, with a calm atmosphere, and the food and drinks were delicious. I don't have a photo, but the steamed dish in a clay pot (with matsutake mushrooms) was excellent (^^)

I searched various things on the internet and found this restaurant. Since it's the Gotoeat period, I looked for a place where I could make a reservation online, but it seems difficult to make a same-day reservation for a Japanese restaurant in Kyoto. This time, I made a phone reservation for a 6,000 yen course. I ordered a 2-cup serving of hot sake, and for the course, we had appetizers, tuna and sea bream sashimi, grilled sea bream, seafood chawanmushi with yuzu sauce, a vinegar dish with small fish (I can't remember the name...), clay pot rice and miso soup, and for dessert, warabi mochi. Somehow, the course ended quickly as I drank two cups of sake, and I felt like, "Oh, it's already over..." Was it because there were few dishes?

I visited a recommended local restaurant. Each dish was carefully made and very delicious. I liked that we were seated in a semi-private area, allowing us to focus on our meal without worrying about our surroundings. The flavors were a bit on the mild side, so my family, who prefers stronger flavors, found it a bit lacking. However, as someone who enjoys lighter flavors, I was completely satisfied.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that I revisited this place for the delicious appetizers and sake. The richness of the broth warms you up from the core, even on a cold day. It's enjoyable to think about when to visit next, considering the changing seasons. Watching the two chefs grilling and plating the dishes is like entertainment to accompany the sake. I'm thinking maybe next time during cherry blossom season.

The atmosphere inside the store is very much to my liking. The counter seats with floor cushions are well-balanced and everything was to my taste. The dishes are visually pleasing and beautiful. The rice is delicious, making it a great restaurant.

The first dish with a hint of orange was extremely hot and helped sweep away the discomfort of that day. It left a great first impression! The creamy and sweet sea urchin in a pot, fatty tuna with grated yam, and raw spot prawn were perfect with the champagne and white wine we brought. The matsutake mushroom and conger eel soup was elegant and delicious. It was a bit disappointing that the meat was a little dry and the eel rice at the end seemed a bit cheap. I thought it would have made a difference if the eel had been grilled firmly in the Kansai style until it became crispy. However, overall, the value for money is good, so I would like to visit again.

We visited the restaurant based on a recommendation to try their limited-time Kyoto Winter Special menu. We were initially worried about parking in the town, but luckily there was a relatively large coin parking lot right next to it, so we parked without any issues. We arrived before opening hours and waited outside, but the staff kindly invited us in despite still preparing for opening. We were led to a table in a cozy sunken kotatsu-style seating area for four. The entrance was adorned with beautiful flowers and the contrast of the black lacquered (persimmon tannin) pillars added to the elegant atmosphere. The only disappointing aspect was the torn shoji doors, likely due to foreign guests not knowing how to handle them or intoxicated patrons accidentally damaging them. Nevertheless, the well-maintained counter seats in front of the kitchen and the charming courtyard view seen later when I visited the restroom were delightful. As for the lunch we had, my mother was surprised at the value for money, exclaiming, "All this for 3,500 yen? If this was nearby, I'd come with friends all the time..." The finishing touch of the rice cooked in a clay pot was exceptionally delicious. I felt hesitant to leave any leftovers, but was pleased to hear that we could take them home. When we enjoyed the remaining portion later, the rice, though cold, was still incredibly tasty.
Located in Sakaimachi Street, Tako Yakushi, on the right hand side after going up the steps, the restaurant has the appearance of a traditional Kyoto townhouse. Upon entering, you will be surprised by the unexpected interior, with a long counter made of a single board extending straight towards a courtyard, an open kitchen on the right, and comfortable green chairs with backrests on the left. I chose the "Enkou" mini-course for lunch, which includes the restaurant's specialty dishes. The meal started with a delicate appetizer of Hama tofu topped with fresh sea urchin and wasabi, followed by a dish of marinated tuna sashimi. I then switched from beer to sake and enjoyed a glass of "Ichihakusui" Junmai Ginjo. The course continued with a beautiful presentation of various dishes, including grilled belt fish, duck breast, and tempura. The highlight was the braised pork belly, served with freshly cooked rice and miso soup made with fish broth. The pork belly was incredibly tender and flavorful, and the rice had a sweet taste with a complex umami flavor. The meal ended on a high note, leaving a lasting impression with its unique and delicious flavors.

<May 2011> I went out with my wife on my birthday. There are tatami rooms, but counter seats seem to be the main option. The unique and energetic movements of the head chef are fascinating to watch up close. While it may not be traditional Kyoto cuisine, I believe the creative dishes are elegant and satisfying. The food pairs well with drinks, and I found myself enjoying some wine but ultimately preferring sake. The stylish and pleasant atmosphere makes it a great place for a special occasion, despite the somewhat high prices. I am already thinking about returning on another special day.
<December 2012> I revisited the restaurant two days before Christmas. I have also uploaded some photos. The cozy atmosphere remains unchanged, and this time I enjoyed a recommended red wine from Yamanashi. I am satisfied.
