I received a souvenir. I had the Minazuki, which is traditionally eaten on June 30th, a little early. It was a delicious, chewy rice cake with sweet red beans. Japanese sweets are best when eaten right away. The Kyoto Wakka-san souvenir was a combination of manju and cookies. The flavors were strong and the texture was crispy and delicious. It was also very cute. Thank you for the delicious treats.

In the summer, I tried the young bamboo shoot yokan, which was a delightful sweet treat that goes well with the season. The subtle sweetness was delicious! This shop also offers traditional Japanese sweets like nama-fu. The packaging is quite stylish and gives off a cool summer vibe!

I tried the "Kyoto-style Matcha Milk Manju" here. The small manju is individually wrapped. It has matcha mixed into the white bean paste, giving it a strong matcha flavor. It was a snack that goes well with both coffee and Japanese tea.

The review is about a traditional Japanese confectionery shop called Tsuruya Chosei in Kyoto, which is a branch of the former Edo period established Tsuruya Nagashin. The reviewer visited the shop for the first time and purchased a box of "Premium Kuritsuki" for 1,980 yen. They mentioned that the chestnut flavor was rich and the sweet red bean paste was delicious. The service was standard, and the atmosphere of the shop was quiet and cozy. The reviewer recommended the quality of the chestnuts in the confectionery. They also noted that the shop's sign had changed from "Kyogashi-dokoro Tsuruya Chosei" to "Kyogasho Tsuruya Chosei," with the addition of the trademarked sub-name "Kyofujo." The reviewer reflected on their lack of familiarity with the area around the shop despite it being their hometown, as they had not explored the residential areas much. They also shared some historical information about the nearby train stations and their name changes over time.

I saw and purchased this at the Seibu Tokorozawa store's regional famous sweets corner. The old-fashioned packaging caught my eye.

Diameter is about 5cm, and the center is slightly bulging with a firm brown color. It looks like a baked yellow bean paste. The inside is white bean paste, and the outer layer is a crispy type of skin that I like. The sweetness is not too strong, which I also like. There are small pieces of chestnut inside, adding a different texture to the bean paste. As you eat, the sweetness gradually builds up, but it doesn't become too overwhelming before finishing it. The size, taste, and texture are just to my liking, and I will probably buy it again. Thank you for the meal!
