I had lunch here and ordered the Brown Set Meal, which was consistently delicious as always. The portion size was quite generous, so I was very satisfied. Despite the high cost of living, the prices were reasonable, which I appreciated. I will definitely come back again.

I visited a legendary ramen shop called "Kawato Ramen" located next to the Nishiki Linen Garage, after seeing it multiple times on a popular B-grade gourmet community on a huge SNS. The place looked like a cafe or a coffee shop from the outside. Inside, there was only a counter in the shape of a "C". I arrived just before 2 pm, and there were two customers already there. They seemed like locals, as they were leisurely reading newspapers even after I left. I quickly decided to order the specialty of the house - the Pork Cutlet Curry. It arrived in about 5 minutes, just a simple Pork Cutlet Curry with no frills. It came with Fukujinzuke on the side, which was a nice touch. The taste was nothing extraordinary, just like the old-fashioned coffee shops, neither exceeding nor falling short of expectations. It was a nostalgic experience, and I appreciated the simple flavors.

From the outside, it's a shop that you can't quite tell what kind of cuisine they serve. There's a hand-drawn dragon picture on the window, so I thought it might be Chinese food, but they also have set meals on the menu. I was looking for a place to rest and have some tea, so I hesitantly went in when I saw that coffee was only 300 yen. Inside, it was like a curry shop with only counter seats. There were comic books lined up that seemed to appeal to men. It seemed to be run by an elderly couple. They brewed the coffee with a paper filter after I ordered, and it was just normal but comforting. It was nice to have a relaxing break before heading to Shinnyodo.

When passing by the neighborhood, I saw a restaurant that caught my attention, so I decided to stop by. It turned out to be a misunderstanding, as it was the location where the legendary ramen shop Parade used to be. Next to it, an older man and woman run a small diner. The place has a U-shaped counter with about 10 seats, a TV, newspapers, and many comic books. They offer various set meals priced around 700-800 yen, and the atmosphere and energy are nothing special. The service is efficient but the greetings of "Welcome" and "Thank you" are cheerful and firm. I tried the daily set meal (700 yen) which was pork ginger stir-fry, served with plenty of rice, miso soup, and a side dish. I was impressed by the fact that the stir-fry was cooked fresh for each order. The cabbage salad side dish was also generous in portion. I enjoyed the meal alongside students and young businessmen. When I finished eating and left, I noticed cute illustrations drawn on the glass window with the words "bom apetite". I looked it up later and found out it means "good appetite" in Portuguese. It was a quiet place with a hearty menu, but the catchphrase was quite powerful. I wonder why they chose Portuguese for it?
