《Takeout》I visited the specialty shop for rice cakes and Japanese tea, Tsukimitsu, in Uguisudani for my first shrine visit of the year. Last year, with remote work being the main focus and very few dining out experiences, I look forward to being able to leisurely enjoy eating out alone. Before my shrine visit in Asakusa, I stopped by Tsukimitsu in Uguisudani. The shop opens at 12:00. Currently, it seems that they are only offering takeout service. When I arrived around 11:30, there were already about three groups of people waiting in front of the shop. I tried the "Mikan Miso Mochi" - two pieces for 1,730 yen. It is a mochi with a filling made of Shikoku-grown mikan (mandarin orange) and white miso. When you pull the string like a bento box, it is piping hot as if it was just made. It was hotter than I expected, and I forgot to take a picture, but as always, the mochi was delicious! I look forward to visiting again when they resume dine-in service. ■Instagram https://www.instagram.com/honetsukikarube/ ■Blog post https://ameblo.jp/yusuke-karube/entry-12722646558.html

Located a 4-5 minute walk from Uguisudani Station, down a narrow street just off Gengi-dori, is a specialty mochi shop. I had been curious about this place since it specializes in mochi, but due to its short opening hours for dining (12:00-14:30), I hadn't had the chance to visit. I happened to have some business in Iriya, so I stopped by around noon. Luckily, there weren't many customers that day, so I was able to get a table quickly. You order at the register as soon as you enter the shop. For dining in, there is a set system in place where you choose between a donburi mochi or a cold matcha zenzai as your main dish. The matcha zenzai is apparently limited to August and September. You can also add side dishes, drinks, and extra mochi if you'd like. I had the donburi mochi with zunda and hojicha. The service is a bit slow as they are short-staffed. The mochi comes out warm, soaked in a flavorful soy sauce broth. It has a nice chewy texture without being too soft. The slightly sweet soy sauce broth was delicious. The zunda was also very tasty! I preferred it over the hojicha. While it may seem a bit pricey considering the portion size, I believe it's because of the owner's dedication to quality. It's possible that this shop offers a unique mochi experience that can't be found elsewhere.

#Today's sweet treat, Moonlight's Summer Donburi Mochi and Ginger Mochi, along with Moonlight's special roasted green tea. Finally visited a shop I've been curious about but hadn't had the chance to go to. A mochi specialty store. The Donburi Mochi looks picture-perfect, served with a dipping sauce similar to soy sauce with a hint of dashi. There were instructions suggesting to eat the first piece as is, the second with seaweed and pickled vegetables, and the third with spicy daikon radish. It was tasty but nothing out of the ordinary. The Ginger Mochi had a stronger dashi flavor, with a mild soy sauce-based sauce and a spicy kick from the fresh ginger. The roasted green tea was just average. The price of 600 yen per piece of mochi seems a bit steep for what you get. They mentioned the mochi is made by hand, and it wasn't bad at all. It tasted like freshly made mochi, which was enjoyable. However, it didn't exceed or fall short of expectations. I probably won't be coming back. The shop is run by a single staff member, so the service and seating can be slow, making it difficult to relax. Not really foreigner-friendly either. #Sweettooth #Dessert #Sweets #Cafe #Mochi #JapaneseSweets #MoonlightMochiShop

I had never eaten such a shiny rice cake before. It's not cheap, but the satisfaction level was too high. The shop is also beautiful and calm, making it very enjoyable to eat. My girlfriend was delighted and said it was the best rice cake of her life. I am grateful. Of course, I will go again!!

I went there exactly at 12 o'clock on a weekday and was able to get in without waiting! Although 5 tables were quickly filled, so if you can't get in on the first try, you might have to wait a bit, but the turnover is fast! The mochi is very delicious, and while the prices are a bit high for the portion size, I would like to go again!

Ogikubo Reii's review of the rice cake and Japanese tea specialty shop, Tsukiko-san. I had to go because it is said that you can eat freshly made rice cakes, which I love. The rice cake had that unique smoothness and chewiness of freshly made rice cakes, it was exquisite. The grated radish and seaweed tsukudani were a nice accent. The soybean flour rice cake was not too sweet and had an elegant taste. You can also enjoy their carefully selected Japanese tea. The attention to detail in the shop and the explanations provided during ordering really show their dedication to rice cakes and tea. However, the price is a bit of a concern, costing over 2000 yen requires something more than just taste, such as the ambiance of the shop. The seating was cramped and close to other customers, and the overall atmosphere was not as comfortable as I had hoped. But there is no doubt that the rice cakes are top-notch.

This might be the only mochi specialty shop in Tokyo, run by a single owner who has a strong dedication to his craft. Each person has their own preference when it comes to mochi, but Moonlight's values and taste may just match yours. The price for a set of 4 mochi pieces can be found in the menu image. I arrived 20 minutes before the opening at 12 pm on a weekday (Friday) and managed to get a seat for the first round. Since it's a one-man operation, it takes about 30 minutes to get your order and another 30 minutes to eat, so the second round would be an hour later. There are 8 seats available (3 for two people and 2 for one person), but it's practically full with 5 groups. However, on the day I visited, there were no customers waiting outside when I left, so it might help to stagger your visit time. (It may vary depending on the day). I have posted a 60-second video on Instagram for reference if you're interested: https://www.instagram.com/mascar_pone7/?hl=en 【Scene】#Lunch 【Menu】#SummerDonburiMochi #SoySauceMochi 【Shop Name】Mochi and Japanese Tea Specialty Shop Moonlight 【Genre】#Cafe #CoffeeShop 【Area】Tokyo, Taito-ku 【Nearest Stations】Uguisudani Station, Iriya Station 【Crowdedness】100% 【Waiting Time】5 groups 【Time】Weekdays 11:40

I went to Tsukiko, a mochi specialty shop located on the first floor of a building about a 5-minute walk from Uguisudani Station. When I arrived at 11 o'clock, there were about 2 groups waiting. After waiting for about 15 minutes, I entered the store and ordered the 2400 yen course. It included 3 pieces of dashi shoyu-flavored mochi, 1 piece of kinako mochi, 1 piece of isobe-yaki, and a tea set. The mochi was freshly made, soft, and had a slight chewy texture.

I visited a shop that opens at 12:00, around 11:20 (>_<). It was a weekday, so I was the first in line. The shop is located on the ground floor of a building a little off the main street on the left. There is a large wooden sign with the words "Tsukiko" at the entrance, which is surrounded by wood. Detailed menu and rules are written at the entrance. Upon entering, the owner provides a detailed explanation. Inside, there are cute, small tables with table seating only. The basic mochi set costs 2400 yen, where you can choose a main (mochi) and a second item (mochi) along with a drink. I chose the donburi mochi (3 mochi) and kinako mochi (1 mochi) with hojicha. The donburi mochi is soaked in soy sauce-based sauce, with three slightly larger mochi pieces, accompanied by nori tsukudani and spicy yuzu pepper. The mochi is very soft and enjoyable, without any strange sweetness. The donburi mochi is soft and stretchy, and hot. It is delicious with a refined sweetness, enjoyable texture, and throat sensation. The kinako mochi is also soft, stretchy, and hot, with a very delicious, high-quality taste. However, the cost performance is a bit concerning at 2400 yen per person, as the prices quickly increase with additional items. The mochi is delicious and the shop has its own charm, but the pricing feels a bit high.

■Shop Information In the adult district of Uguisudani stands Uguisudani-en, where you can enjoy freshly made rice cakes. Located in Uguisudani, Tokyo, the shop called "Gekko" offers a limited supply of 4 sho of freshly made rice cakes. They are a tea house that focuses on creating a sensory experience, even paying attention to the aroma. The rice used is called "Akari Mochi," and the shop is located across from Uguisudani-en. ■Basic Set ¥2400 - Main Dish: Donburi Mochi (3 rice cakes) - Side Dish: Kinako Mochi (1 rice cake) - Drink: Gekko's special roasted tea The dishes are served promptly. The Donburi Mochi is delicious with its broth soy sauce coating. The freshly made rice cakes are wonderfully stretchy. The side dishes include seaweed, spicy radish, and wasabi. The spicy radish and wasabi are quite hot, but they pair well with the sweetness of the rice cakes and broth soy sauce. The seaweed provides a hint of ocean flavor and enjoyable texture. The Kinako Mochi comes with a generous amount of soybean flour. Both dishes paired well with the roasted tea, but at ¥2400 for one cup of tea and four rice cakes, it seems a bit pricey. It's understandable that they have their own unique touch, but a slightly lower price would be appreciated. Uguisudani - A specialty store for rice cakes and Japanese tea, Tsukimitsuki. I visited for the first time for a takeout in the afternoon on a weekday. It is a Japanese cafe where you can enjoy freshly made rice cakes within walking distance from Uguisudani Station. Unfortunately, I missed the last order time for dining in, so this time I opted for takeout. The Tamatebako set includes 3 rice cakes with dashi soy sauce for 1700 yen and 2 rice cakes with soybean flour for 1370 yen. The Tamatebako is a set of a heating-style bento box where you can enjoy hot, freshly made rice cakes anywhere. By pulling the string in the box, the rice cakes heat up and become fluffy and impressive. The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter - Bamboo Tube Sweet Bean Rice Cake for 1600 yen: Inside the bamboo, there is a rice cake with sweet bean paste on top. You use the bamboo spatula to take it out and enjoy it.

Omotenashi shop "Gekko" in Uguisudani specializes in rice cakes. They use a special sweet and savory mochi rice called "Akari Mochi". The rice cakes are hand-kneaded over 400 times to create a smooth and easy-to-eat texture. They are so soft that you don't even need teeth to eat them. They sell out by 2-4 pm daily as they only have stock for that day. The basic set costs 2500 yen and is a must-order, so the cost performance is not great. The kinako mochi was especially delicious. - Name: Gekko - Rice Cake and Japanese Tea Specialty Shop - Google Maps: Gekko 03-5849-4569 - Nearest Station: 4 minutes walk from Uguisudani Station North Exit on JR Yamanote Line / Keihin-Tohoku Line, 5 minutes walk from Inarai Station on Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line, 194m from Uguisudani Station - Business Hours: Weekdays 12:00-19:30 (Last Order 19:00), Weekends and Holidays 12:00-19:00 (Last Order 18:30), Open on Sundays - Closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays - Budget: 1000-1999 yen - Other Information: No private rooms, no reservations, all seats non-smoking, no parking #Gekko #UguisudaniGourmet #UguisudaniSweets #RiceCakes #Mochi #TokyoRiceCakes #ConnectWithGourmetLovers #GourmetStagram #GurumeMemo #ConnectWithGourmetLovers #FoodPornGram #FoodPornographer #TabeSta #TabeStagrammer #FoodPornism #GourmetTravel #DeliciousIsHappiness #GourmetFriendsWanted #FoodieClub #FoodieGirls #FoodieGuys #WantToConnectWithGourmets #KantoGourmet #FoodReportGram #GourmetReport #GourmetWriter #FoodWriter #BGradeGourmetInformation #TokyoGourmet

I arrived 30 minutes before opening on a regular day. There was one group of customers waiting ahead of me. The staff seemed to be handling everything alone. As a first-time visitor, I ordered something that was available. The rice cakes soaked in dashi soy sauce, served with sweet red bean paste, were delicious. Thank you for the meal.

※Only those who order the price increase course are allowed to enter. There are no individual items available. [Note] I forgot to take a picture of the menu, so the prices are approximate. ・Mochi Course (without options, approximately 2400 yen) → Additional options will increase the total cost. Soy sauce mochi + sweetened soybean paste mochi (additional approximately 280 yen) + roasted green tea (additional approximately 200 yen) = Approximately 2840 yen total bill. Firstly, the price for this menu seemed high to me! And after eating, I still felt the same. It is true that the mochi is handmade every morning, but I still found it to be expensive. The taste is good, but not surprisingly delicious considering the price.

The donburi mochi with zunda mochi (+250 yen) comes with a side of water-brewed hojicha tea, which is currently a required set order. I chose wasabi as an additional condiment for the donburi mochi. The wasabi added a refreshing flavor, which was nice. The seaweed and grated daikon radish were already included in the set. As for the main dish, the mochi was lukewarm, lacked the flavor of rice, and was quite firm, almost like a rice ball. I had imagined freshly pounded mochi to be soft and stretchy... It would have been better if I could at least taste the rice flavor. I was disappointed that the mochi wasn't enjoyable with the condiments, considering this is a mochi specialty store. As for the zunda mochi, it was warm and soft! Although it also lacked the flavor of rice, the zunda flavor was strong and delicious! I wonder what the difference between the two mochis is... Perhaps it's in the way they are heated. The water-brewed hojicha tea was just a regular cold hojicha. I visited on a Saturday afternoon, and the restaurant was empty. The unique smell of the restaurant could be improved, rather than focusing on the scent of the disposable chopsticks. The total cost for one person was 2650 yen, including the basic set and the additional 250 yen for the zunda mochi. Considering the price, I don't think I will visit again.

When I arrived at John, I was told that they only operate by reservation at a private residence. I decided to try their takeout option since indoor dining was only available until 1:30 pm. I purchased two pieces of mugwort and kinako mochi for 1500 yen. The mochi was served in a heatable bento box, and after heating it for 7 minutes, it became soft and gooey. However, I found the taste of the mugwort mochi to be much better than the kinako mochi, and it was also cheaper.

I visited around 1:00 pm for lunch. I was able to enter the restaurant after waiting for about 5 minutes as some customers had just left. The only option for dining in the restaurant is a 2,400 yen course. You can choose each item from the menu. I ordered the seasonal limited edition Nankou Ume Anko Mochi, Kinako Mochi, and Houjicha. Everything was delicious, and the tea was also surprisingly tasty! The mochi was incredibly soft and stretchy, probably because they make it fresh every day. I would love to try the Donburi Mochi next time!

I heard about a shop that serves delicious mochi, so I decided to check it out. This shop makes their mochi fresh every day using a mortar and pestle, which is a rare and impressive dedication. They offer a set menu called a Short Course, which includes savory mochi, sweet mochi, and tea. You can also choose toppings like wasabi for the savory mochi. The mochi has a strong chewy texture and a subtle balance of saltiness and sweetness that enhances the flavor of the mochi. Even my friend who loves mochi said it was the best mochi they've ever had. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

In January, the sales were only for takeout. Thanks to that, I was able to purchase without waiting in line at 12 o'clock on weekdays. The price is high, but thanks to the heating lunch box, I could eat it as if it were freshly made, which was exciting and great as a souvenir. Especially children will be delighted. However, I had high expectations for the taste. It was a stretchy, soft, and light mochi. It's a shame that I couldn't enjoy it in the store. Also, there were too many love hotels in Uguisudani, which made it awkward.

Every time I travel, this place has been on my list but I hadn't been able to go yet! It's a short walk from Uguisudani Station. I ordered the basic set which includes the following: 'i' main dish - ozounzai (2 mochi), 'ro' side dish - kinako mochi (1 mochi), 'ha' drink - [hot] houjicha for ¥1980. I also tried the basic set which includes: 'i' main dish - donburimochi (3 mochi), 'ro' side dish - kinako mochi (1 mochi), 'ha' drink - [hot] houjicha for ¥1980. The donburimochi with soy sauce flavor was the most delicious! The ozounzai could have used a bit more moisture. The kinako mochi had a mild flavor. The seasoning is meant to bring out the original taste of the mochi. Personally, I prefer stronger flavors!
