Haneda Airport has many restaurants in the terminal, but during lunchtime, it can get crowded with long lines, making it difficult to relax. In such situations, you can make use of "Flyer's Table" located inside the Haneda Excel Tokyu Hotel in the second terminal. I visited for lunch on a day when I had an afternoon flight from Haneda Airport, so I will introduce my experience. The Haneda Excel Tokyu Hotel is located at the end of the second terminal, and after arriving at the airport terminal via the monorail or Keikyu Line, you can find it at the left end of the departure floor. There are many signs inside the airport terminal building, so you should have no trouble finding it. As soon as you enter the hotel, you will see the words "FLYER'S TABLE," making it easy to locate. On the day I visited, they were having a "Yamagata Fair," featuring dishes made with Yamagata specialties such as Yamagata beef and cherries. I had made a reservation in advance and was seated in the area with windows at the back of the restaurant. Although you couldn't see the runway directly through the windows, they were showing real-time camera footage of the airport inside. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere and mainly serves breakfast and dinner for hotel guests, so it was quiet during lunchtime. For lunch, they offer a la carte options as well as a set menu that changes weekly. They used to have a buffet on weekends, but it was currently on hold. Additionally, you could order from the afternoon tea menu during lunchtime. On the day of my visit, the weekly lunch options were A) Vinegar-stewed chicken breast and bone-in chicken in demi-glace sauce, and B) Herb-steamed white fish with spinach and nori-flavored Van Blanc sauce, both served with demi-soup, baguette or rice, and a mini dessert for 1,750 yen. Considering the high prices of hotel lunches, this was a reasonable price. They also had a drink bar where you could add a drink for an additional 320 yen. After some deliberation, I ordered the B) herb-steamed white fish. The main dish took a while to arrive, about 20 minutes from ordering. It came on a tray with the main dish, demi-cup soup, and a glass dessert. The corn soup in the demi-cup had a good flavor, but it was a bit disappointing that it was a small portion. The main dish of white fish (flounder) in white wine sauce with nori was surprisingly delicious. The fish was tender and flaky, and the sauce with nori had a good balance of flavors. It was served with sautéed spinach and deep-fried eggplant in cream sauce, which I enjoyed with the bread provided. The bread, either baguette or butter roll, was served warm. The dessert was a glass of orange jelly topped with mango, grapefruit, and blueberries, with orange jelly in the jelly itself, showing attention to detail. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the soup, main dish, and dessert. I had a relaxing lunch without the usual crowds, making it a recommended option for lunch in Haneda Airport's terminal, where prices can be high.
